Since U Been Gone
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
8) Also in 2005, Tom Cruise had a pop culture moment when he famously jumped on a sofa. Do you remember where he did this? Yes, on Oprah. I thought he was on something because he was so silly. I was embarrassed for him, actually.
Saturday 9: Since U Been Gone (2005)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Kelly Clarkson is dissatisfied with her relationship, and she's moving on. What's something you've moved on from lately? It could be anything from a romance to the laundry detergent you've been using for years. It's not really a good thing, but I've moved on from reading as I used to. For years, I would always have a book in progress. Always. I hope I get my reading mojo back, and soon!
2) She sings that she can now breathe. Studies have shown that July can be a good month for allergy sufferers because trees and grasses are no longer pollinating. How are your eyes, ears, nose, and throat this morning? Just fine. I don't have allergies, thank the Lord!
3) Kelly complains that their romance reminds her of a "stupid love song." Let's be more positive: what love song do you associate with positive memories? Ricky Nelson's Traveling Man brings back happy memories from the public swimming pool when I was 9 years old. Not really a love song, I guess. The teenage girls always played that song on the juke box, and I can almost smell the strong chlorine when I hear that song. Happy, carefree days of summer.
4) While Kelly's first love is music, she's established herself as a TV personality. In addition to her daytime talk show, she's been a judge on The Voice and hosted an awards show. Have you ever been on TV? A very long, long, long time ago. There was a kids' show on local TV called Aunt Fran (something), and I was on there once. I don't remember it. Too young, and it wasn't a big enough deal for me to remember it. My mom told me about it, though.5) She has confessed a weakness for Doritos. Would we find salty snacks in your kitchen right now? Yes. Potato chips, pretzels, and I think there are Doritos. Crunchy Cheetos are my favorite naughty snack right now. I also have some salted peanuts.
6) Kelly has found her weight the source of public debate. Are you like Kelly, whose weight fluctuates? Or does it stay stable? I started a weight loss journey last September and am down 43 pounds! I want to lose another five or ten pounds and then slow it down. Hoping to hold it there going forward! I gained 30 pounds or so after Joe died. Comfort food is the culprit... that and over-eating. Portion control is my friend these days. (But my weight has definitely fluctuated through the years.)
7) In 2005, when this song was popular, a motorist made news in Texas when he was ticketed for driving over 200 mph in a 75 mph zone. Have you ever been pulled over by the police? Yes. I got a ticket for speeding once, back in the early 80s, when I lived in Alexandria, VA. I was going 35 in a 25 mph zone. It was a residential area, and I did not see the sign changing from 35 to 25. Grrrrr. I was nice about it, and the policeman thanked me for being so nice. He still gave me a ticket.
8) Also in 2005, Tom Cruise had a pop culture moment when he famously jumped on a sofa. Do you remember where he did this? Yes, on Oprah. I thought he was on something because he was so silly. I was embarrassed for him, actually.
9) Random question: Tell us about a photo you wish you'd taken, but didn't. I doubt it would have come out, but flying over the Italian Alps, I looked out of the plane's window and saw such a beautiful turquoise blue river meandering between the mountains. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and words don't do it justice. I wish I had a photo of it, but the one in my memory will have to suffice.
I will be taking a break from blogging over the next two weeks. I will be away and won't be taking time out to post. I may have time to quickly read a few posts now and then, but I will do my best to catch up when I return home. Thanks for your prayers for my safe travels!! Much appreciated! I will definitely share my experiences when I get home!
