Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions!  You can join in here!

W-O-L-D

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and sometimes the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

W.O.L.D. (1973)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song tells the story of a man who has made a career in radio.  How many professions have you worked in?  My serious full-time jobs have all been in bookkeeping/accounting, human resources, and business operations/management.

2) He describes himself as "45 going on 15." This morning, do you feel older or younger than your years?  I still have problems remembering I am 70 years old but I don't feel much younger than that when all is said and done.

3) He estimates that he's traveled thousands of miles, from town to city, as disc jockey at various stations. Have you ever relocated for a job?  I relocated for my husband's job, never mine.

4) This song is written as though he's reached out to an ex. Is there someone from your past who is on your mind this morning?  Well, Joe is always on my mind.  I do have an ex and I rarely think of him.  He was a very long time ago.

5) Tell us about a radio personality you grew up listening to.  I had a small transistor radio in a brown leather case that I thought was the best thing ever.  I listened to an AM station out of Columbus, Ohio (WCOL) and they played all the popular songs by the Beatles, The Byrds, the Stones, etc.  I don't remember the DJ's name.

6) This week's featured artist, Harry Chapin, was an Oscar nominee. Before he became a musician, he wrote and directed a documentary about boxing called Legendary Champions. When you sit down to watch a movie, would you prefer action, comedy, drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, thriller, or documentary?  I might go for any but the documentary, depending on my mood.  Mysteries and dramas would be at the top of the list.

7) Today Harry Chapin is fondly remembered for his philanthropy. He filled his calendar with benefit concerts that supported local food banks all around the country. How would you like to be remembered?  As someone who loved and was loved.  I want to be remembered for being a nice person rather than the hard-headed pain I can be on too many occasions.

8) In 1973, when this song was popular, one of the top-selling toys was a Curious George book packaged with a plush Curious George. Can you recall a favorite book from your childhood?  I had a Mary Poppins book before most knew about Mary Poppins.  I also loved Darby O'Gill and the Little People which was made into a Disney movie.  Loved it too.

9) Random question: Here's $100. What will you spend it on?  Two men from my church are collecting money and supplies to take 14 crates of medical supplies to Poland where they will be given to Ukrainian refugees.  That is really where the money would go because I haven't been able to help.  Several churches are helping and our two men will be escorting the supplies next week into Poland.  Lift prayers for them, please!

Peace & hugs!

“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples.”  Psalm 96:1-3

  1. The summer from Hades - 2017 and Hurricane Irma that took a big swipe out of many close to me, comes to mind with Harry Chapin. Long after everyone left supplying food and water Harry Chapin's group hung around to make sure the poor sections of the area had enough. Water was a main concern for them and Chapin stuck to it for several months.

  2. Lifting prayers for those fellows' travel mercies! There's so much need everywhere these days, I hesitate to turn on the television. Closer to home, I'd probably give the $100 to my son towards gas; it's costing him near $200/week just performing his job.

PS - I'll join you at the mystery matinee!

  3. Prayers for safe travels for your church members heading to Poland, Terri! I was not aware until your post here that Harry Chapin was such a philanthropist. I sure would love to be remembered as a caring, loving and giving person.
I am 67, and have rarely thought about getting older until this year with all the illness and now, PT. Yes, I feel my age!
    Blessings!

  4. I'm pretty sure that is exactly how everyone will remember you, Terri. And what a great thing those men are doing. I will add them to my prayer list.
