Monday's Weekend Recap...

I don't have anything exciting to share but the weekend is behind us now so here is my recap...

My Vinny is in his favorite hiding place.

This was on my window at work on Friday.  Yikes!

The big one is the female walking stick and the little one
is the male.  I Googled it and they mate for up to 79 days.
She carries him around for more than two months.
Good grief!!

They don't bite and aren't dangerous.  They eat foliage.

I stopped in to see Helen after work on Friday.
She was talkative but nothing made much sense.
She did smile real big when I walked over to her and one of the
aides said "look how she recognized you!".  That was nice.

They laid the sod around the new house, across the street
from me.  I think they are done with it and I will be watching
for new neighbors.  Hoping they will be full-time and not snowbirds.
And nice. I hope they are nice!

Vinny let me sleep in a bit on Saturday.  When I got up and got him fed - and myself - I started cleaning the house.  My church small group will be here tomorrow.  After work today I will do some grocery shopping.  I'm doing a chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole, a cranberry & pineapple jello salad, and brownies for dessert.  It will be a smaller group.  One couple is still traveling, and another couple has covid (but they both feel okay).  Maybe only 10 instead of 14.

I got to talk with Joey and Darlene on the phone Saturday evening. Always good to catch up with them and the horses.  They are so busy and are having a time getting workers, paid, and/or volunteer.  Hoping they can get away sometime this month to visit.

Church was great yesterday. Our Pastor is preaching on the Gospel of Mark. I did my usual two loads of laundry when I got home.  Made some pasta and Italian sausage for my dinner and will enjoy it again tonight.

Peace & hugs!
Jesus loves us, this I know!!

  1. I am praying for you and your new neighbors...praying they will be very nice and become really good friends with you. The house looks nice with the grass in front! Vinnie is so cute up there in his hiding place. I guess he feels safe up there. Oh, your meal sounds SO good. I would enjoy that. Wish I could get there on time! LOL. Helen looks nice and it's wonderful that she seemed to recognize you. I am sure she knows you are her very special 'family'. Please take care and enjoy your supper tonight and have a great week. Happy Monday. Our day "off", as Dixie Cottage is closed on Sun-Mon. Yay. I can get something done! LOL.

  3. I hope your new neighbors are pleasant and make good neighbors. Vinny and his hiding place gave me a good chuckle. Interesting about the walking sticks! I think I would get tired of carrying him around though.

  4. Those walking sticks are rather scary looking. Vinny is so cute sitting up there. If I left right now, maybe I could make it to your dinner tomorrow. Sounds really good and it's always fun to be with friends. Have a great day!

  8. Aw, Vinny's such an imp! Tomorrow night's menu sounds perfect; I hope the conversation's even better ... and you get to sleep on time (heh-heh). Crossing my fingers your new neighbors will embrace the friendly atmosphere you so enjoy!

  9. The biology lesson was certainly interesting! Helen's hair looks good in this picture. I'm glad the visit went well. I'd be over for dinner, which sounds great, have other plans for when your group comes over. Hugs!

  10. The house across the street looks good. Praying you get nice, year round neighbors.
Love Vinnie up there - he's so cute!
So nice to have Helen recognize you. You need those little positive points occasionally.
    Have fun with your group!

  11. The house across the street looks nice and like it may be the same style as the one across the street from me. I was in it once and loved the layout with the entrance on the end like that. Praying you get great neighbors who are friendly and permanent! Gotta love Vinnie! I'm surprised Jasper doesn't do that, but so far he doesn't seem to ever head for the high ground. Probably a good thing since unlike most cats I know, he is not careful. When he gets up somewhere he is likely to knock something down and break it. 79 days...I learned something new today. LOL Have a great time with your group tomorrow!

  12. Woohoo! I can comment again! I had to go to Chrome and unblock all cookies. Anyway, I just love that picture of Vinnie on top of the cabinet!!! Aren't cats so funny!! I remember when Cookie (one of the grandcats we kept a few years ago) did that. I really wished I had seen him get up there!

Dear Helen. I love that she smiled at you!
