Friday Fotos...

I don't have any new photos (again) this week but I was looking at some old photos of Helen and her hubby Al.  Several have asked how I know Helen.  We have been friends since before we bought our first house here in Lakeland 33 years ago.  Her husband, Al, was a CPA and he and Joe hit it off right from the first meeting.  Helen and I did, too.  We shared holidays with them every year and continued to do that after Al died 10 years ago.  Some have said Helen looks like Queen Elizabeth and we have had some fun with that.  She actually does - could be a cousin, for sure! LOL

Helen and Al celebrating their 40th anniversary.
They were married 62 years (I think) before Al died.

One of their church directory photos.
Cute story... Al was in the Navy during WWII.
Helen wrote to him and he wrote back to her.
They were war-time penpals before they met in person.
Kinda like Match.com of their day!!!

Al's birthday years and years ago.

Sweet Helen

For her 90th birthday.  She is 94 now.

Me and Helen

She had red hair in her younger years and colored it in her later years.
Al called her "Red"

Another birthday celebration.

What do you think?

I will stop to see her after work today.  Friday seems to be my day to visit these last few weeks.  I miss her.  She isn't Helen anymore, yet she is.  She is still my sweet friend.

Peace & hugs!
God is so good!!

  2. She does favor the Queen. You are so right. It isn't them, yet, it is. I feel that way with Mom. It is like I lost her years ago, but she is here and we do, but it is not the same. Helen was pretty with her red hair, but I am firm believer in our skin changes to match the gray. My mom was a red head too.

  4. Aw, I love this backstory how Helen and Al met! Yes, I think she does resemble the Queen -- especially their smiles. Makes me want to pull out my old scrapbooks and remember when.

  5. Like Myra, I love the backstory of Helen and Al, Terri. What wonderful photos! And yes, she could definitely be a relation of the queen. :)

  9. What a beautiful story. Helen is so blessed to have you as a dear friend, and I know you feel the same way about her. Yes, she does resemble the Queen! And a redhead too! Of course I have a special place in my heart for redheads since I was one and so was my daddy. I'm still waiting for my hair to turn white. Daddy's finally did in his 80's. What a sweet sweet story. I hope you had a nice visit today.
