Thanks to Joyce for taking time out of all the birthday celebrations to bring us this week's Hodgepodge of questions! You can become a Hodgepodger HERE!! (Keep celebrating, Joyce!)
Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 435
1. It's fall y'all! Officially that is and in the northern hemisphere only, so if you're visiting from down under happy spring! Does it feel like fall where you live? Does it look like fall aka are the leaves beginning to change? What is your favorite fall color? Scent? Flavor?
It does not feel like Fall yet, here in central FL. It does not look like Fall yet, here in central FL. My favorite Fall color is probably the peachy oranges. Scent... turkey roasting!! Flavor... turkey, stuffing, cranberries (notice I have not said anything about pumpkin - not a favorite).
2. What's something you're not? I'm not homeless. I'm not hungry. I'm not without family. I'm not without friends. I'm not without pets to keep me company. I'm not without faith in Christ Jesus. What I AM is extremely blessed.
3. Share a favorite quote related to fall and tell us why it's a favorite. I had to go looking because I couldn't recall a specific quote related to Fall. But, since I loved the Outlander books, I will share this one: “It was a beautiful bright autumn day, with air like cider and a sky so blue you could drown in it.” – Diana Gabaldon, Outlander
4. Besides Thanksgiving, what's your favorite fall meal? A good, thick chili with cornbread on the side.
5. Share a favorite photo you took last fall? Joe's birthday is September 5th, so that and Labor Day always brought Fall "in" at our house. Last year we met the grands down in Punta Gorda for a birthday lunch on the bay.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Part of me is sad about having to work on Thanksgiving morning but another part of me is okay with it. Joe always made a big deal of sharpening his knife before carving the bird and telling me I was making too much food but then enjoying seconds and leftovers... I'm okay with this year being very different. Perhaps next year will find more friends/family around the table again. Still counting my blessings Amen.

Your attitude is unique and so positive…prayers…
ReplyDeleteI agree with the chili and cornbread, and when the air is "like cider", I love it! God bless you for your good attitude. I can just picture your Joe, chiding because there's too much food, but sharpening the knife, and enjoying it all, you are very blessed with such good memories.
ReplyDeleteLove that photo of Joe and you with the grands, Terri. Yes, this season will be different, but I have no doubt your strong faith will see you through.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Tell your boss you get to watch the Macy's parade while you work.:)
ReplyDeleteHanging onto Christ and His promises gets us through all these sad and difficult times, doesn't He?! Praise His name. I'm so proud of you for your faith. I pray Jesus will give you peace and show just how important you are to everyone. You are very loved.
ReplyDeleteAnd, chili, YUM! Steve makes a keto friendly one (no beans) that is out of this world delicious. Very filling too. Now I want a bowl! *lol*
Hugs & Blessings. xx
OK, OK. Your answer to number two tops everything. What a great answer! I made chili yesterday and I’m having yet again today. I think I might make some cornbread since I put Fritos in it yesterday. Thanks a bunch!
ReplyDeleteYou make me feel even more thankful for my blessings too. Life changes over the years and it's hard to let go of the best part of the past, like your Joe. You are such a great example of someone who it thankful and blessed. Sweet hugs!
ReplyDelete...and if you lived closer you would be over for dinner. smiles. Keeping you in prayer, Terri.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts and memories and quotes...And yes, chili is always good in the fall... Yes, we are waiting for those cool crisp autumn days here in Florida. May have to wait a while, but then we will have fall like temps all winter long pretty much, while everyone else is freezing! I do hope you will get to enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with someone after you get off work. We still have thought much about our plans yet...we usually have everyone here, but I just don't know yet what's going to happen. Seems like this year and last have been very different and no one seems to want to make plans...so we shall see. If you were closer, you could join us! Anyway, let's enjoy these lovely days and yes, we have so much to be thankful for even with the things that make us sad. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteLove chili and in fact, hubby is planning to make a pot for supper tonight (and he makes the best). Never really thought to make cornbread to go with it though. Sounds good! Hope you have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bonnie .. your response to #2 is the best! I hope you're not the only one in your office having to work Thanksgiving? I'm imagining a little pot-luck.....
ReplyDeleteStupid autocorrect... That should be Nonnie, not Bonnie.
DeleteI will be there all by myself. Same as on Labor Day. All the other staff are full timers with benefits (leave & holidays) and spouses and families. It's okay.
DeleteAnd now the advertisements for Christmas just started.. and we are talking about Thanksgiving! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd it isn't even October yet!! I know!
DeleteI love that you took that what you're not question and made it so positive. You are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYes, this may be a good year to work on Thanksgiving and have it be completely different.
Chili sounds good!
I said chili also; love it! Hang in there this holiday season.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, your life and mine are very different with the absence of our husbands, and so deeply felt when traditions of the past slam into our thoughts. I rather wish we could avoid holidays but of course that's not right.
ReplyDeleteYour frequent focus on all you're blessed with is excellent therapy, a good reminder to me. All of this could be so much worse. We miss our mates but we have been left with so much for which to be thankful.
Loved your answers. I had aunts who lived in central florida and both recently moved back to northern ohio and both were so excited to finally "feel" fall.
