Monday's Weekend Recap...

Backing up to Thursday, I went to dinner with Tim & Judy and Sharon & Larry also joined us at Shell's Seafood Restaurant. It was a lovely evening and the food there is always good.  I had crab cakes. Yum!  I believe we may have another person joining us next time. Some of the snowbirds are beginning to come back!!

On Friday, since Kalisa and I had to postpone our lunch at Mr. & Mrs. Crab, I went by to see Helen right after work. She looks good and hasn't had a fall in weeks (praise God).  She talked and talked and was quite animated. She always wants to get up and walk me out when I get ready to leave.  As we passed the shadow box display, outside her door, she pointed to the picture of Al and her and called them some other names. I didn't question her. We just kept walking. The staff was serving fruit cups in the dining room as an afternoon snack. She got distracted and sat down for a fruit cup so I could go on out.

They are experiencing a little COVID outbreak in the assisted living side and are COVID testing everyone, staff, and visitors, so I had to wait for my negative test before going to see her. I'm glad they are being proactive and that the memory care side is doing okay.

I had an appointment at Haverty's and headed there from Helen's.  Melanie (salesperson) was expecting me and we looked at the recliner chairs available.  She showed me one that is also a rocker and does have the lever to raise and lower the footrest.  I liked it and she checked the computer for pricing.  I asked her if it would take another 3-4 months to get it in and then asked her if the one on the floor was in stock in that fabric.  The color is nearly the same as the one I chose and YES they do have it in stock so I am getting my new chairs this coming Saturday!!  The insurance transfers over to the new chairs, for the exchange, and Melanie applied a "store sale" to the price of the chairs and my balance due is zero!!  I can't say enough nice things about Haverty's and how nice they have been through this chair debacle.

Saturday!  I slept in until 8:00 (!!) and then got started on several projects I've been putting off.  Some touch-up painting got done in four places, dusting, vacuuming, and mopping got done, and I did some laundry.  Felt good.

I went to church on Sunday.  Al and Theresa stopped by for a bit. Al retired from the museum last month and Theresa is retiring from her job at the end of this month. She asked for my help doing a letter of resignation. I was happy to help.  They are excited to be starting on their next journey.

September 5th - Joe's birthday. I had a phone call from Joey, a phone call from my friend Cindee, many text messages (many!!), and lots of comments and good wishes on Joe's first birthday in Heaven.  Your prayers and good wishes are all so appreciated! I confess to shedding a few tears a couple of times but just because I miss him and we always celebrated his special day.  The thought occurred to me that I really would never wish him out of Heaven.  How wonderful it must be for him to be joined again with so many who love him, including Jesus.  Selfish to even think to wish him back.  But I still miss him terribly.

On a happier note!  Some of the messages I received over the weekend were from a few D'Orsaneo nieces who were sharing pictures from Haley & Colin's wedding (on Friday).  Joe and I were planning to go but I just couldn't go by myself. Everyone understood.  Here are a few of the (over 20) photos I got!

You may remember this one from the actual wedding they did in June so that Debbie (Haley's mom) could be there.  Debbie has been battling cancer for a couple of years now and they were afraid she may not be there for the September wedding.  This was the picture from the intimate June wedding...

Debbie (seated) sisters Carly & Nikki, and the bride, Haley.

Debbie was able to attend the reception but my niece, Peggy, said she sat outside the tented area at a table and people could visit with her there.  She is not doing well, but praise God could be at the celebration.  Haley is the last of Nick & Deb's seven kids to be married.

Joe's older brother, Lou, and Lou's two daughters, Lisa and Linda.

Looked like a beautiful venue!  Three of our nieces.
Nikki (another Nikki) Mary, and Carolyn

There were so many great photos, but you don't know them so I won't post any more of them.  Suffice it to say that I was so happy to get the pictures of our loved ones.  Cried a few tears over them, too, but it's all good.

I am working this morning and just plan to relax the afternoon away!

Peace & hugs!
Jesus is love!

  6. You were certainly thought about yesterday, and I'm happy to hear of friends' outreach. Those wedding photos are so lovely! And woot(!) on Haverty's coming through for you. Your experience is sure a strong testimonial.

PS - I was going to ask why a shadow box outside Helen's room, but went to Google instead. Ingenious!

  8. Wonderful pictures and stories from your weekend. So glad to hear that Helen is doing well and that you were able to have a nice visit with her. And then to get that chair situation worked out so wonderfully! Can't wait to see the new ones! (((Hugs))) to you regarding Joe's birthday. I bet he felt the love going up from here to heaven and I can imagine he actually sent some back down to you. Just little things that mean a lot are like sweet kisses from heaven. So happy you got to see such nice pictures from the family wedding. So glad Debbie was able to attend afterall. I know that meant a lot to the bride and groom as well. I hope your morning at work went well and that now you are relaxing. It's rather warm out there today. We are staying inside and keeping cool. No picnics for us today. The "kids" are better, but we are still staying at a distance since they are still coughing a bit. They do plan to be back at the store this week, since they are negative now. I hope you have a blessed week. So happy you have so many good friends there to do things with. God is good.

  13. I'm glad Debbie was well enough to attend. I remember the earlier photos. Such a beautiful bride! I can see that Lou is Joe's brother. The D'Orsaneo good looks run strong!
I read once that tears shed after losing a loved one are really a blessing, because it shows that person was special enough to be loved and impact your life.
