Monday's Weekend Recap...

I have had a wonderful few days and am happy to make note of them here as I share my weekend.

Six of my neighbor friends were here on Thursday for fajitas.  It was nice to entertain in my home again and get out platters and bowls and do the planning and cooking. It's been too long.  I wrote about this already (on Friday) so won't belabor it.  I had a good time and I think my guests did too.  We also lingered for a couple of hours, just talking.  We can't stay that long in a restaurant so it was nice.

On Friday, I met my friend, Linda, at Allegria Italian Restaurant in Brandon.  She and her hubby live over that way.  They belong to my church and Linda is the pianist in our praise team.  She also just retired from teaching Latin (but is subbing a couple of days a week).  We talked through a delicious dinner and got to know each other better. She and her hubby have six kids and nine grandkids! She and Bob do the Alafia River Rendezvous each year. You may remember that I posted this picture back in January when Joe and I took Elaine and Jim to the campground and met up with Linda and Bob in their camp.

On Saturday, I slept in a bit before going to Publix for a  prescription, and I also got a bottle of wine, and a pot of mums to take to my boss's house. It was so nice of him and his wife to invite me for dinner.  They also invited Vol-M to join us.  She is a volunteer at our state park.  She is in charge of keeping the hiking trails mowed and marked and managed.  A lovely lady with a passion for the outdoors!

Mrs. Boss cooked a delicious meal of dijon chicken, rice, and green beans. She also had fresh bread served with whipped butter and chives and also baked brie.  After dinner, we played two games of Skip-bo!  I'm not much of a game player but it is not difficult to learn and I actually won both games!  Beginner's luck. LOL  (Not doing names because I didn't ask if I could identify them.)

Yesterday was Sunday school and church and a very lazy afternoon watching a couple of old movies before switching back to Midsomer Murders.  I did laundry on Saturday and had already cleaned pretty well before my guests came on Thursday so it really was a lazy Sunday afternoon and evening.

I will peek in on Helen after work today.  I got a call last week that she had slipped/fallen out of bed again but was not hurt.  I asked about a railing on the bed but the nurse said they are not allowed to use them because it is considered a restraint.  Who knew. At least with the lower bed, she is not hurting herself. The nurse said she asked Helen what she was doing and Helen told her "the kids outside are making too much noise".  It seems another resident was making noise in his room, down the hall and that is what disturbed her.

I will do my cake pictures and write about my little bakery business for Friday Fotos.

Peace & hugs!

Jesus loves us, this I know!

  1. That's interesting about the bed rail being considered a restraint. (and that's a bad thing?)

You socialize more than me. It seems to be agreeing well with you. I will try to increase that in my calendar, learning from you.

    Love you, girl!

    1. Love you, too, dear one! Joe knew I like to entertain. He also helped with clean up so that was on me this time. He was with me, though! xo

  2. That's the first I've ever heard of the game Skip-Bo, Terri. Makes me want to definitely look it up and find out how it's played.
It's hard to believe that a bed rail is considered a restraint. My mother had to have them when she was in the hospital/rehab because she was prone to fall. Sometimes, things simply don't make sense.
    Have a great week!

  3. Wow you are always so busy. That's strange about the bed rail not being allowed. Have a great day!

  4. Who knew a bed rail could be a bad thing? Good grief. I am glad you had a fun weekend with people. We need lots of more that in life!

  5. I could do the mowing trails job. Would love that. We've had so much rain this year, though, our grass is up to my knees 'cause the ground is too soft to mow! Not complaining but it does need to slow down just a tad. *lol*
Steve's Mom, Althea, keeps slipping outta gear. Her mind ... well, she's not doing well. She's 92 and at Baptist Village. I wish the Lord would call her home. That poor woman is suffering so much.
I hope your week is blessed my dear. xx

  6. Such a wonder-full few days you enjoyed. I'm delighted to hear, Terri! (Chuckled at the Mrs. Boss reference, but yours is a kind thought.) I don't recall there being rails on my mother's bed, but they did use a 'seat belt' when she was in her wheelchair. I remember one day, she was like a naughty little kid -- so proud of herself, for having figured out how to undo it.

  9. What a lovely weekend! Sounds like your dinner guests, lunch, dinner with the Boss and wife, etc., were all great successes! So happy you are having plenty of "company", one way or the other. And also some good downtime just for you to relax and enjoy some old movies and Mid.Murd. I am looking forward to the new season starting later this month. Just wish we could get Murdock Mysteries new season now. It is on in Canada, but can't get it here until spring I guess. If you discover another way, let me know. We actually have discovered Colombo shows and are enjoying them. We never watched them when they were running back in the day. Not sure why...just must have been too busy or something. But we are enjoying them now until we can get Murdoch Mysteries again. LOL. Glad to know Helen was okay, but I don't understand about the bed rail either. Seems like it would make good sense to have it if you ask me. Anyway, I enjoyed your post as always. Thank you!

  10. I loved reading about your weekend! Glad you were able to entertain and be entertained!
Yes, here in MI we can't have rails either, for the same reason. Lots of families get upset about that, but the state makes the rules.

  11. I went thru the bed rail situation with my Mother, they would let her fall out of bed and get hurt, but they couldn't put a rail up to keep her safe. They put mats on the floor beside her bed. I'll never understand that thinking. I think it's great that you entertained friends again, it's something you do well.
