The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

Thank you, Joyce, for this first Hodgepodge of 2021!!  Become a Hodgepodger HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 402

From this Side of the Pond

1. What advice would you give yourself as we begin this new year?
Just chill.  Stop giving too much credence to social media hype!

2. If you could throw a themed party for yourself what would the theme be? Well, I will turn 70 this year (not until December!) but a 70s theme does nothing for me.  I'm really not that into themed parties or dressing up for a party.  I stand more for come as you are and be comfortable.

3. Tell us where you were and something about what life was like when you were 20- 21. Married to a former Vietnam Vet/Marine and both of us in school.  I was working part-time at a furniture store and thinking about being an interior decorator. He was studying accounting and working for a CPA.  We had a tiny apartment in Columbus, Ohio.

4. What's on the menu at your house this week? I don't plan menus.  We are going out with the 'gang' on Thursday for seafood.  Elaine and Jim invited us over for dinner on Saturday and she is making poppy-seed chicken. I don't even know what I'm making tonight!

5. What should you do more of this year? Less of? I probably should plan some meals for the week instead of flying by the seat of my pants.  I need to stop eating snacks at night so less junk food, especially after 7:00 pm.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Elaine and I walked Monday and Tuesday morning and my knees and back are holding up well. I've actually been pleased with how far I've been able to walk.  We need to build up to 45 minutes/a mile or so.  Feels so good! Today we will try to go a little farther. We aren't going to the farm (Joe's client) today because Ann had some surgery and also had some dental work done. She isn't up for it this week.  Instead of walking to the pastures, Elaine and I will walk the community.  Jim is golfing on Thursday so we will walk Bella (he usually walks Bella and they walk faster than we do).  I will try to get some pictures!

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves you!!

  1. Glad you are able to do some serious walking without pain, Terri. Yes, exercise is so important, especially as we get older. I try to workout at least three days a week if not more, and it does make me feel so much better.
    Blessings!

  3. I see you have a spammer already this morning. Idiots with nothing better to do. I am glad you are getting some exercise. I am walking on a treadmill (in a cold, unheated garage) every morning. Ny goal is to walk before 8am our time.

I hope you figure out what you are having for dinner tonight before you sit down to eat! lol. xo Diana

  5. Had to delete the spam. It's been awhile. Hope I don't have to go to moderation again.

  6. Sorry to hear you had spam to deal with. And yes social media can become tricky, but it's soooo enticing lol. Well done on the walking. Good that you've found someone to go with - I'm sure it will help you keep it up.

  7. I have been trying to get out and walk too. The weather is cool still but sunny so I can take that. I will say I never eat after 5:00. It was not easy but we eat supper early...think it is that school teacher thing. Then I never walk back in there. Now, 2:00 might be a different story:)

  8. I typically don't plan meals ahead either. However, I did ask hubby to make chili tomorrow night. Otherwise we try to decide the night before or in the morning before we leave for work in case we need to set something out to thaw.

  10. I wish I were going out for seafood tonite. I do so much better with my eating if I plan meals in advance. One thing I've been doing during Covid is less trips to the grocery, which means I have to plan ahead. Enjoy your walks! So glad the knee is feeling good.

  11. Meal plans. I think I should do that all the time, but somehow it never happens. Make it simple tonight. I'm going with tomato soup and grilled cheese.

  12. A 'come as you are' party ... remember those? I need to QUIT making excuses and get out to walk again. Wish I join you and Elaine. :)

  13. I'm avoiding social media today after the mess of today and the mess in Georgia!
Glad you have a good walking partner - that's a blessing!

  14. We try to take a walk every morning. John usually goes again in the afternoon, but that's when I cook supper. I don't plan menus either. I should, but how do I know what I want to eat at the first of the week? Things change. We try to use up leftovers as often as we can. I hate to throw away food. We try to limit going out only on Sunday after church, unless we have to be out all day for something. I am happy you have a new walking partner and that you are able to walk so well now. That is a great blessing!! I'm trying to avoid the news...today was a big mess. Praying hard for our country. We need A LOT OF PRAYER!!
