Thanks to Joyce for this week's questions! You can join us Hodgepodgers HERE!
1. In a single sentence tell us something about your 40's. If you haven't reached that milestone yet tell us (in a single sentence) something about whatever decade you're in now. In my 40s, we were already living here in Florida and I was running my own business, The Wedding Cake. When I decided to get out of foodservice, I went to work as their Business Manager for a private Catholic high school and from there I went to the Polk Museum of Art where I worked for 20+ years before retiring. It was an exciting decade and one in which I grew in my career and in the community. I belonged to several community service organizations and was also active in our church's women's group. It was probably my busiest "decade"! I am too tired for all that activity and work now. I have learned to say "no".
2. Life begins at forty. Agree or disagree? Tell us why. And if not at forty, when? Life began for me in my 30s when I got out of a bad marriage and then met Joe. Life began for me then and progressed to my 40s, explained above.
3. Share a favorite book, song, or quote with a number featured in it somewhere. Well, not necessarily a favorite but the first song that came to mind was "Love Potion Number Nine"!! LOL
5. Last time you drove more than 40 miles from home? More than 400 miles from home? Where were you going? Was it before or after this current season of social distancing? It is a little over 40 miles to Tampa General Hospital and we have made that trip a few times over the last couple of weeks. More than 400 miles would have been our last trip to Ohio and that was Fall of 2017. Tampa was recent. Ohio was not.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I sit here trying to think of something to say other than to talk about my knee surgery. There is nothing going on in my life right now, though, other than my knee.
Joe has been amazing and has made this week so much easier on me than when I had my right knee done back in August. You, who have been here a while, might remember that Joe got real sick and ended up in the hospital for a week while I was at home doing physical therapy and not able to leave the house. In a way, it might have made me move faster since I had to take care of the cats and feed myself without him here. It was sure a crazy time for us but he came home much better and I got through all the therapy and we have moved on to getting this left knee done.
Joe is taking great care of me and good care of the cats, feeding them twice a day, and litter box duties! He is microwaving meals, cleaning up the kitchen, washing my hair in the kitchen sink... such a blessing!! When I need anything he is there. Starting today I am working on becoming a bit more independent. I know one thing for sure... I really need to get in the shower!! Washing at the vanity sink is okay but it isn't a nice hot shower. I have a cover for my leg that I bought online. It will work much better than using tape and a plastic bag like I did last time!! I just need to be able to stand long enough to get it done. Working on it. Yes, we have a shower seat but it is easier to not use it. So I'm waiting another day or two.
Thanks for your visit today!
My Whimsical Wednesday will appear tomorrow!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

I always feel better after a hot shower. Hope you can stand long enough to get one. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAs our Lord said in Genesis, "It's not good for man to be alone..." and this applies to women, as well. I'm so glad the circumstances are much better with this second knee operation. Joe is a gem of a guy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Joe has been able to take such good care of you while you recover, Terri. He's a good man! And yes, I think I'd go a bit crazy if I couldn't have my shower in the morning. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
The big thing about 40 I can think of is this. I turned 40 in the year 2000. As a kid that seemed so far away and so futuristic. Well it 20 years past and I am turning 60 this year so there is that. I also decided during my 40th year that I was over coloring hair. It took me the next year to let it go and I never looked back. It was quite liberating and I think it is a joke that gray hair ages someone. I think putting dye on is aging.
ReplyDeleteHope this surgery goes as smoothly as possible and you are up and about soon.
Yikes about the knee...actually, it looks pretty, Terri. I expected for some odd reason worse? (ducking) Me and blood and stitches, ick. I'll have to answer the HP tomorrow, I forgot today. sigh.
ReplyDeletePrayers you recover quickly. Love the song choice with number...LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Joe is taking good care of you. I hope that you have a speedy recovery, Terri.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember the first time Marvin took a shower after his knee replacement. He had to lay down for a while, it really tuckered him out. So glad Joe is able to be such a help to you Terri. As for my 40s...busy with working and teenagers. Like you, I kind of miss the energy I had then.
ReplyDeleteNothing like that first hot shower when you haven't been able to shower in a while. I loved reading all your answers and so glad Joe is able to help you out this time around, Terri. Blessings and prayers-xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you met Joe! You two are a wonderful couple. Your knee looks pretty good - I know you want that shower.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're recovering well. My neighbor had his knee surgery in March so is now walking the neighborhood, albeit slowly. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteWow, on your former careers and community service. Yep, it's high time you put your feet up. Methinks all the help Joe's been, your kitties should pitch in and get him a nice Father's Day present. (*smile*)
ReplyDeleteI am so old now, I dont even remember my 40's....I know I was rearing 3 children so that took up most of my time. Glad to know you are recovery nicely and that Joe is there to help you. You are both blessed to have one another.
ReplyDeleteYour Joe sure is a "keeper". My "John" also was a big help when I came home from my surgery two + months ago. Now we are back to "business as usual" so enjoy your break while it lasts! ha ha!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you here at the Hodgepodge today! What a blessing that Joe is able to be such a wonderful help to you right now. Glad the circumstances have been better with this recovery from knee surgery than the previous one.
ReplyDeleteOhhh - that knee pic - mine hurt just looking at it.
ReplyDeleteI love life started when you met Joe & started a new life :)
Must be so much easier with Joe to help you this time around but I hope you manage your shower soon. I'm sure you'll feel much better for it. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fine looking knee! Soon those steri-strips will fall off and it will look even better. :)
ReplyDeleteSo thankful for a wonderful husband! I know that Joe would say the same about you. It's a blessing to have a marriage where you can depend on each other.
I didn't know you had a cake business. Very interesting!
Glad you are healing and feeling better, enjoy that hot shower! Thank you for your thought provoking questions, they served as writing prompts for me as I have had a case of writers block :) My weekly writers group has not met for two months, one of the things I miss during this period of social isolation.
