Good Old Days
Welcome to Tuesday 4 begun by Toni Taddeo and kept in memory of her.
This week's subject is the Good Old Days.
1. Do you know who supplied the voice of Lamb Chop, Hush Puppy and Charlie Horse? It was Shari Lewis according to Reminisce.com.
It was a very popular kids show in the 50's and 60's.
What childhood program meant a lot to you or taught you things you feel were important to you. The original Mickey Mouse Club with Annette Funicello and Bobby Burgess. Loved that show!
2. Is there a memory from your past that makes you feel at home, warm, and nostalgic? Maybe you would share it with us. Perhaps there is a story your parents told you that brings back good memories. I had a great childhood and there are many, many good memories of holidays and vacations. I was blessed.
3. Dirty Dancing was a big hit movie of the 80's. Mullet hairdos for guys and huge puffy hair for girls was a hallmark of those days.
Did you dance at school dances, Proms, etc? What kind of dancing did you enjoy? I was in high school in the 60s so we danced all of those funky dances. Yes, I did dance and actually love to dance. Hoping I can do it again, soon, with my two new knees.
4. Do you think we have passed by the good old days or do you think we will be able to look back and see these as the good old days in the future? Will your kids or grandkids think they were? The "Good Old Days" is a generational thing that we all experience, so yes, the kids and then the grandkids will all look back (hopefully with fondness) to their good old days! I do mine!

We had a nice lunch with our friends Helen and Cheryl. It was a good visit. Not a typical Memorial Day celebration with our community potluck, but we did enjoy our visitors and food picked up from Cheddars.
I have physical therapy today and twice more this week before my stitches come out and I go to outside therapy. Now that things have opened up more here in Florida, I am anxious to be done with my knee isolation!!
Wishing you a blessed week!!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Good Morning and so glad to hear you had a great day yesterday with your friends. Also happy to hear your stitches are coming out soon! Hope you will soon be back to dancing again! I haven't danced much in the past 50 years, except an occasional dance with my hubby in the living room. There really isn't anywhere to go dancing anymore, at least not where we live. I don't even know if the teenagers have dances like we did when we were teens. But we did have some fun ones back then. Hope your week is beautiful and bright! Although I think we may get more rain...I hope we do as we need it!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you had a wonderful time with friends, Terri. So glad to know your knee is progressing getting better. Have a great day friend!
ReplyDeleteDirty Dancing movie is one of my fave movies. I watch it quite a few times a year. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteCaptain Kangaroo was the tv show I remember with great fondness. I can still hear that opening song in my brain as I type this. And Dirty Dancing...Patrick Swayze...he was so cute.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the good old days. Every generation sees it's own youth through that filter.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Kangaroo was my go-to kid favorite back in the day. Hope you'll be up and dancing soon, Terri!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I agree about the original Micky Mouse show! Karen and Cubby were my favorites. Tom's been increasingly recounting tales of his youth -- probably because he struggles with the Millennial generation. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou will be dancing it all up in no time :)
ReplyDeleteAHA, yet another good reason for going under the knife.. Im probably looking at repalcement some day soon!
ReplyDeleteYour celebration sounds nice! I hope your therapy goes well! Loved your answers! Have a great Tuesday!

Glad you’re getting through your physical therapy and hope you’ll be up dancing soon.
ReplyDeleteI was blessed with a good childhood too. Hope my girls and grandson will think the same when they are my age.
I hope you are soon dancing again! Thanks for joining in
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a tv when I was young - didn't get one until I was in 5th grade, so I was always jealous of my friends talking about Leave it to Beaver... But one of my good memories was our weekly trip to the library. We would fill up a big box with books and we all read a lot!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're Memorial Day went well and I'm still praying for continued healing of that knee.
I loved to read from very young. Our library was only three blocks away and we walked there often. We did have a TV though and spent what could have been reading time in front of the boob-tube. You were blessed!
DeleteWould you believe Dick and I both grew up without a TV, and then in our home we did not get one until 1989! Anthony was starting to go to friends' houses to watch sports, and we decided to get one, but only for sports and videos in our VCR. Of course, you know how that eventually went, haha!! There are so many old shows that I have never watched.
