Monday's Weekend Recap...

Let's see.  If I back up to Thursday, Joe and I both had eye doctor appointments and we both need new glasses. Yikes!  Thursday evening, we went to Mellow Mushroom with 16 other people from Mas Verde, most of whom were Canadians.  We were invited to join the group by our wonderful neighbors, Jill and Murray.  It was fun, but we could only talk to those near us. In a group that big, it is hard to get to know everyone.  We are not fond of Mellow Mushroom's food, so that was disappointing too.  BUT, we did enjoy talking with Jill and Murray and two others.  We were pleased to have been invited.  Usually, the Canadians are pretty tight in their group.  We have discovered the cliques here... Canadians and New Yorkers stick together and aren't quick to let others in.  They are snowbirds and we are year-rounders, so there is that too.  We don't care. It is what it is and we are who we are.

On Friday, I had brunch with girlfriends at Keke's.  We had a great time catching up!  Cindee and her hubby just got back from a trip to Isreal with a group from their church.  There were 51 in their group!  Cindee had us in tears when she described being in small wooden boats, on the Sea of Galilee, on a very quiet and misty morning.  The boats were just floating with mist gathering around them and someone started singing some of the old hymns. She said it was one of her most moving moments.  Another was when they gathered in the Garden of Gethsemane to pray.  It was all she could do to hold it together.  She also talked about the soldiers with guns and the poverty and the commercialism but tried to let that go.

Saturday was my cleaning and laundry day.  Joe helped a bunch!!  It is hard for me to be upright for very long before the pain gets to me and I have to sit down.  We got the guest room ready for Jeff's arrival and were so excited about getting ready for him to come down for a visit!!

We went to Sunday school and church on Sunday morning but didn't stay for the pot luck lunch this time.  We still had a few things to do before heading to the airport to pick up our #2 son, Jeff.  His plane got in about 20 minutes early but we planned ahead for that.  Often (we say they are flying down-hill) arrivals in Tampa are early.  We waited in the cell phone lot and picked him up at the curb in arrivals!  Yay!!  We went right to GOSH for some yummy Vietnamese food before we took him home with our tummies full.

We don't have any plans for this week, other than to enjoy Jeff's company.  I'll get some photos!!

Wishing you a good week, and I thank you for your visit!!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  2. Boy, us New Yorker's get a bad rap, LOLOL. You know, on second thought, I am not sure I am such a New Yorker or Southerner, not sure what I am, LOLOLOL. Probably southern because we lived so many years down south. grin

    1. We don't feel like we are from anywhere either, Linda. I was raised in Ohio, then lived in Maryland and Virginia before moving to Florida. We have been here longer than anywhere, so consider ourselves Floridians.

  7. Flying downhill … too funny, Terri! I hear you about the (unintentional) cliques; we witnessed much of that sort of thing in Arizona. Still, it must have felt nice to be included.

  8. I was all set to discuss other things until you mentioned Vietnamese food. WE have a ton of those and Thai on every corner here. Many settled here after the fall of Saigon and being brought to Eglin. I love Thai and Vietnamese food, not so much Chinese...there is a difference. I could eat it every day. Hubby not so much.
Now I can't imagine that Israel wouldn't have poverty OR tourism and commercialism. It is big business to go there to see where Jesus walked. My mother-in-law traveled there. I don't think I have a desire. I am not sure I wouldn't leave troubled more than uplifted by what I saw. I have always felt so lucky to live in America and being outside always says to me God is near.
I know you enjoyed family! Take care! I can get wordy sometimes:)

    1. I agree with you on the difference between Vietnamese and Chinese. The Vietnamese food is SO fresh and never over-cooked. Chinese can sometimes be more like mush compared to Vietnamese which is always crisp and so fresh tasting. I don't have a desire to travel to the Holy Land. Cindee had some very hard experiences there too and they would be hard for me to rise above, I think.

  12. There are, indeed, a lot of New Yorkers here in Florida. We've befriended a lot of them both here in the neighborhood and at church. Good people.

Glad Jeff is with you now. Have a wonderful visit!
