Thankful Thursday...

I am joining Rebecca Jo, at Knit By God's Hand, for her Thankful Thursday.  You can join in HERE to share your blessings with others!

Most of you who connect with me on Facebook know what my Thankful Thursday post is all about!!

On Tuesday afternoon, one of our neighbors dropped in to talk awhile.  When she was leaving, I was standing at the door finishing our conversation and Lucy ran right out of the house.  This cat has never shown any behavior that would lead me to believe she wanted out. She has been an indoor cat for the entire nine years we have had her.

I think she found a way to get under the house because she disappeared so fast.  All of our neighbors were out helping us call for her and look for her.  Nothing.

I put out food and water when it got dark, put her litter box out so she could get the scent to find home, and prayed that she would stay off the busy street behind us.  Lots of people were praying for her and for us.  If you have a pet, you understand.

Joe and I didn't sleep well. We kept getting up to look outside and call her name.  No Lucy. We walked around calling her when we got up. Joe had a doctor's appointment.  I stayed home. I sat in the quiet, hoping to hear her if she came around. I thought I heard her so got up and opened the front door to look.  There she was, heading around the back of the house. I called her to come home. The back door was open for her to come in so I closed the front door and headed to the back of the house. There she was. I opened the sliding glass door quietly and invited her to come in.  She hesitated, then darted into the kitchen. Praise God!!

I closed up the back of the house and went to see where she went.  "Her room" is the front guest room and that is where she was.  When I approached, she went under the bed. Where she spent all afternoon and evening.  Joe got her to come out for a quick pat.  He saw no injuries and she isn't dirty.  She had not come to me yet when we went to bed. I am writing this on Wednesday night. Hoping the quiet night will get her out to eat and use the litter box.  If we are lucky, she will be sleeping with us when we wake up (her usual spot).

I am so THANKFUL that our sweet Lucy has returned. I was really concerned that we would never see her again.

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. It’s a terrible feeling to have a lost pet. When it happened once with my dog, a kind person took her in. Lots for you to be thankful for next week!

  8. So thankful that Lucy came home. Interesting how she acted when she came inside. Maybe she was traumatized by having to stay outside all night. Praying she will be back to her usual warm and cuddly self again soon. I do wonder what adventure she was having, but maybe it wasn't so great and she is now very happy to be home, safe and sound.

  10. She must be so stressed, her little episode was not fun. It may take her a few days to calm herself. I'm so happy she's home, my heart was hurting for you.

  12. I'm looking at your picture of Lucy and thinking about your post yesterday, where we were to talk about how the picture made us feel. I'm thinking Lucy had some secret adventures she either would maybe like to re-live, or maybe not!

She is much safer back inside her loving home where there are few 'unknowns' and a dependable source of food! I'm so glad she's back. Worrying over her must have been terrible.

    1. It was terrible, with my biggest worry the busy street behind us. She doesn't know about cars and trucks. Thankfully she is not hurt and has settled back into the rhythm of our home.

PS - our daughter Heather has a cat named Lucy too. :)

  14. I'm so glad Lucy's adventure had a happy ending! I have spent far too many hours chasing wayward dogs over the years. It is indeed scary stuff!
