Where You Lead
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Where You Lead (1971)
Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.
1) This is the theme of The Gilmore Girls, a TV show that ran from 2000 to 2007. It recently enjoyed renewed popularity as a reboot. Were you a fan? Nope. I've never seen that show.
2) The show is about thirtysomething Lorelai Gilmore, her teenage daughter Rory, and her parents, Richard and Emily. The four of them had dinner together every Friday night. Who did you have dinner with on Friday? With Joe. What was on the menu? Last night, we had home-made tortilla pizzas and a nice salad. Easy!!
3) Lorelai is outgoing and talkative. How about you? Are you seldom at a loss for words? I put myself somewhere in-between. I can be outgoing and if I know someone can hold my own in a conversation but I am not comfortable in a crowd of people I don't know. Not good at small talk, at all.
4) Rory dreamed of going to an Ivy League school and then becoming a broadcast journalist. When you were in high school, what were your ambitions? Early in my teens, I wanted to own a horse ranch in Colorado. Then I thought I'd be a hair-dresser. Then an art teacher. Ended up an accountant and human resources manager. Jokes on me!!
5) Rory's grandfather (and Lorelai's dad) went to Yale and performed with the Whiffenpoofs, Yale's famous a cappella group. Have you ever sung in front of an audience? Not solo. I sang alto in the high school chorus and have sung many times as part of a group. I even made all-county chorus one year.
6) Rory's grandmother (and Lorelai's mother) Emily was very active in civic organizations and worked hard on the Hartford Zoological Society's Annual Silent Auction. Have you ever attended an auction? I have attended quite a few silent auctions. The museum where I worked for 20+ years had one every year at their Gala fundraiser and I belonged to several civic organizations that also had silent auctions. They are fun.
7) Alexis Bledel, who played Rory, went on to appear in Mad Men and The Handmaid's Tale. Of these three shows -- Gilmore Girls, Mad Men andThe Handmaid's Tale -- which would you prefer to binge-watch? I can't answer this since I have no idea what any of those shows are about. I've not seen one of them, even once.
8) Carole King originally wrote this week's song, "Where You Lead," for her Tapestry album. Do you have a favorite Carole King song? I'm not a big Carole King fan though do like several of her songs. I like "Far Away" and "I Feel the Earth Move".
9) Random question: If zoo animals could talk, which animal do you imagine would be the rudest? The apes. Aren't they the ones that throw their poop at zoo visitors? Yuck!! (I believe they are also closest to humans.)
Thanks for peeking in today! Happy Saturday!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Wishing you and yours a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We love tortilla pizzas. They are my go-to when we need something quick or light. The apes got my vote for the same reasons.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Saturday, Terri!
I did love and watch the Gilmore Girls. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDelete"Aren't they the ones that throw their poop at zoo visitors? Yuck!! (I believe they are also closest to humans.)"
ReplyDeleteI don't know quite how to take that! 😂
Goodness, laughing over your last statement about the apes, LOLOL.
ReplyDeleteRude zoo animals. Hmm. I never think of them as being rude, just in terms of how friendly, approachable they are. Love the elephants and giraffes the most.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, Terri. LOL about the ape...so true. Have a great weekend. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI've never seen any of those shows either. LOL about the apes.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
This was Amelia's favorite show. IN fact, if Landon had been a girl his name was going to be Reese Lorelei.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of Gilmore Girls! (Actually none of those shows in #7.)
ReplyDeleteChuckling about the horse ranch in Colorado. Terri, that was MY dream …. only while in grade school. Guess I'm not such a fan of Ms. King either. I was going to say "Clouds", then remembered that was Joni Mitchell.
I have seen that show - they run it on one channel over and over. Not my favorite. I didn't know that you sang! Cool! sandie
ReplyDeleteNot much singing anymore, Sandie. When my thyroid was removed (cancer) I lost the upper register of my voice for about three months and it never has come back to what it was. Maybe I could sing bass now!!
DeleteI never saw that show either.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you - not outgoing, but not shy either.
I always wanted to be a nurse, from the time I was in elementary school!
I think of the shows mentioned you might only like Gilmore Girls..Mad Men is full of sex...I did not watch it. Handmaid's Tale is different. I have only read the book, but a bit sad. Gilmore Girls is silly. I watched it when it was on, did not watch the re-boot. It started the careers of several actors. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

I used to watch the Gilmore Girls with my daughter because she wanted to, but I never really got into it. Not interested in the other shows, either. However, I did listen to a lot of Carole King growing up, and learned to play many of her songs on guitar.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Terri!
Love your ambitions, so funny! We just never know the path our lives will take us do we. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe agree on the ape and monkey. They just seem rude to me!
