My Weekend Recap on Monday...

Backing up to Thursday, Joe and I met an old friend and her daughter for lunch.  Judy and I worked together more than 30 years ago at the American Red Cross  Blood Services, DC Chapter.  I worked there for six years and Judy was there longer than that, I believe.  She retired a few years ago, after 20 years or so, from Catholic University.  Her daughter, Brooke, is a nurse.  They live in Maryland, outside of DC.  They have turned part of their home into an AirB&B that sleeps five and has a full kitchen.  If you are headed for the DC area and need a place to stay, let me know and I'll put you in touch!!

We caught up on our lives and talked about the people we knew at ARC.  She had been in touch with some I hadn't and vice-versa.  We ate at Burger 21 and then sat there for nearly two hours.  It was a wonderful visit.  We have stayed in touch with Christmas cards and letters but hadn't seen each other for all of those years.  It was such a blessing.

Friday was a free day (no appointments) but we ran a couple of errands.  Joe always has back pain and the shots he has gotten just don't help.  A friend here in Mas Verde has been using CBD (not marijuana) with some success so that was one of our stops.  We bought the cream and the oil and Joe is already feeling some relief from the cream. It isn't cheap, but if it helps him, it is worth it.  Add up the co-pays for his therapy and pain management visits, and it is actually a much better deal - if it works.  I'll keep you posted.

Saturday was another day with nothing planned.  I did laundry and started doing a few of the projects around the house that I have been putting off.  I want them done before my surgery, so that is my incentive.  We moved furniture around a bit in our bedroom to make it easier to maneuver around with a walker.

On Sunday, we were welcomed into membership at Redeemer Presbyterian (PCA).  The Elders accepted us over a month ago, but they want you to answer the questions in front of the congregation so yesterday was our day.  It was even in the bulletin.  It was nice to be hugged and welcomed after the services.  We really feel part of the 'family' there.

Nothing on our calendar today but we have appointments tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.  I will tackle my closet today.  That is my last BIG project.  Joe and I have separate walk-in closets and I have to admit that mine has a few things that have been shoved into corners. We have only been here two and a half years.  Good grief.

To those who are promising prayers and positive thoughts for me and my surgeon and his team, thank you so much!!  I am not worried at all and am already feeling covered by your prayers and love. Thank you!!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. Florida is a medical Marihuana state.... one can get it without the THC ... friends have said it has been very effective. Need to get a card.

  3. What a nice visit! And I have heard the cream works well...my cousin uses it. I hope it helps. You are smart to get things ready before your surgery! Have a blessed week!

  4. I know folks who use that stuff and we have been joking perhaps my mother in-laws husband could use it. Be careful with it as it is unregulated and also it is one of many compounds, known as cannabinoids, that are found in the cannabis plant. Like I said, we have been looking into it for Ron.

Keeping you in prayer, Terri with the upcoming surgery. smiles

  5. Finally getting to visit you again! Your catching up with an old work friend sounds like such fun! That's such a good picture of you and Joe with those ladies.

It's good to have an incentive once in a while to get those things done that are easy to ignore. And I'm so happy to hear that you're not feeling stressed about the surgery. It will be so WONDERFUL to have that new knee!!

I hope and pray the CBD works for Joe's back pain!

  6. I would be interested in getting an update on the CBD oil Terri. Marvin has bouts of sciatica and only an epidural seems to help. Like you said, it is cheaper than all the bills for treatment. And yes indeed you are going to be covered up in prayer for your knee. Love you sweet friend.

  8. I love seeing old friends and enjoyed reading about your visit. Has it really been 2 1/2 years? WoW, seems not that long ago that you were keeping us informed on your move. Time sure does fly. I'm adding your surgery date to my prayer list, you'll certainly be in my prayers. ((hugs))

  10. How richly blessed, your past several days! I'm keenly interested in learning more about the CBD cream and/or oil. There's so much out there; did someone point y'all to a specific manufacturer?

    1. No. This store advertises in our community newsletter so we thought we would give them a try.

  11. If I ever go to Washington DC, I'll talk to you.
I love that you are now "official" in your new church. I know they will be blessed by you and Joe.
Bob and I have both tried CBD oil for my knee, and his shoulder. We didn't notice any change, but his brother swears by it. So - I hope it helps Joe!
I am and will be praying for you.

    1. The cream is working great for him. They told us the oil could take as many as six days to feel a difference. The oil is ingested.
