Saturday 9... Don't Envy Me

Don't Envy Me

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Don't Envy Me (1963)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) What is it about you that you believe your friends and acquaintances envy?  I don't want to be envied, but I will say that I have heard more than a dozen times  "I wish I was tall like you".

2) Do you have a friend or acquaintance that you envy?  Envy can eat you up.  Don't envy people.

3) This song was not a hit, even though it was written and produced by the supersuccessful team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Tell us about a project you had great confidence in at the beginning, but didn't turn out as well as you'd hoped.  I wouldn't call it a project, but I had high hopes for my first marriage and it did not work out, at all.

4) George Hamilton is better known as an actor. He is proud of his performance in the 1960 movie Light in the Piazza. He played an Italian who romances an American girl on holiday in Florence. Did you ever find love while vacationing?  No.  I have never been on a vacation without my parents or a husband.  Ha.

5) George had a small part in Godfather III. How many of the Godfather movies have you seen?  I have seen all three of them (we own the DVDs) but GFIII should not have been released. It was just awful.  Have you read the book?  No, I have not read the book.

6) He's gotten a lot of publicity over the years for his personal life, including his 1966 romance with First Daughter Lynda Bird Johnson. At the time, she was living in the White House. Tell us about a memorable experience you had "meeting the parents.  I met Joe's ENTIRE family, all at once, when he invited me to attend the wedding of his nephew, Lou.  THAT was an experience!! Need I say Italian?  Need I say loud, fun, and lots of food?

7) George is also known for his year-round tan. Have you ever used a tanning bed?   No. I burn fast!  Or self-tanner?    I have tried a few self-tanners and they just streak and turn me orange.  I have not tried a spray-on because I figure it will just look orange too.

8) In 1963, when this record was released, President Kennedy made a historic trip to Ireland. Have you ever visited the land of your ancestors?  No, but I would love to see Ireland, Scotland, Germany, England, and Norway.

9) Random question -- The last of a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies just fell on your kitchen floor. Would you eat it?  My kitchen floor is pretty clean and I would not let cookies be tossed for hitting the floor.  I wouldn't serve them to company, but I would not throw them out.  Five-second rule counts!! LOL

Peace & hugs! God bless!!

  1. One way to help me look taller is by carrying a ladder with me all the time. When people speak to me, I stop, stand on the ladder and answer them back. It's a bit difficult on the bus or train though. Also in public toilets when I stand above the cubicles' top.

    God bless.

  5. I tan easily so wouldnt need to use the spray or bottle stuff. As for the cookies, the 5 second rule definitely applies! I would love to go to Ireland, Germany, Scotland. Happy weekend.

  9. I'm a firm believer in the 5 second rule, Terri. Lol! Especially when it comes to cookies. And I can only imagine what that must have felt like to meet Joe's entire Italian family all at once. Talk about an introduction to remember!
    Have a great weekend!

  10. Oh, I'm with you on the 5 second rule, never would I throw the cookies away. And, like you, wouldn't serve them to anyone but us, but we'd eat them and never look back. Envy will eat you alive, not a good place at all. Enjoyable post!

  11. Do you ever wish someone had been video-taping that first meeting with Joe's family? What a great memory! I've never sat down and watched more than a few minutes of any of the Godfather series (or read the book.) Weird, on account I've always been subtly drawn to mafia types. Ha!

  15. I haven't heard anything about George Hamilton for a while. I wish I was taller - 5"4' isn't bad but it would help me get things off shelves. :)
