We had a good weekend. Not too busy, but we had some fun!
Friday morning, Joe and I had fasting lab appointments at our clinic. After we gave our blood, we went out to breakfast at First Watch. It is fairly new and we hadn't been yet. They have lots of healthy choices on the menu when all we really wanted was eggs, meat, and hashbrowns. LOL We did get our breakfasts, some good coffee and we can say we've been there, done that. We paid over $30.00 for breakfast (with tip) and that is bordering on ridiculous, for us anyway. We won't go back.
I did laundry and some cleaning and we got stuck in a marathon watching Strike Out (note: it is Striking Out) on Acorn TV. Katie, at Preppy Empty Nester, mentioned it in one of her blogs last week so we checked it out and now can't wait for the next season to come out. Good stuff and thanks, Katie!
On Saturday, we continued watching Strike Out (Note: it's Striking Out) and then we took a break to watch Villanova get killed by Purdue in the basketball tournament game. It was very sad.
Yesterday (Sunday) we attended our first session (Redeemer 101) for membership in our new church. Another couple joined us, Bruce & Maryann, and they are also seeking membership. After church, we met our old friend and neighbor, Kathy, for lunch. She is down here on vacation with her friend, Becky. It was fun reconnecting with Kathy and catching up on the old neighborhood and people we know in common. Becky is very nice. This photo is the last time we saw Kathy. She and another friend were vacationing in Sarasota and we met them at The Ringling Museum that day. You can see it was in 2005!
Here we were yesterday. Kathy hasn't changed a bit!
Here is a photo of our old neighborhood on N. Armistead Street (not our homes, though) in Alexandria, VA. We had a 2,400 sq.ft. townhouse with four bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room, formal living room and a walk-out family room with a fireplace and wet bar. It was a lovely place to live but we still don't regret our move to Florida! Both of our boys were living at home then, so the house was lively and full! Kathy was right next door. She was a recent widow and a school teacher. Her hubby died not long after they bought the house and moved in. So very sad. She is a strong lady and we formed a good friendship quickly. The people who bought our house are still living there, 30 years later.
I am off work one last day, today. We have our 3-month doctor appointments this afternoon and we are having a pizza dinner with our friend, Gregory tonight. Back to work for me tomorrow.
Oh, I need to share this, just for fun! My BFF, Elaine, and her hubby are helping her mom clean out the house, preparing to move her into an assisted living home. They found this tucked away somewhere and had to send me a picture of it. Back in high school, I painted pictures of people's dogs on velvet and sold them for $10.00 (yes, including the frame made by my grandpa). Now, Elaine's mom did not have a dachshund so I don't know how she ended up with this one, but there it is. Made me laugh. Thanks, Elaine and Jim, for the memories!
And, I took a picture of Vinny in the window, soaking up the sunshine. He looks like he is all glittery! And then there he is sleeping on my lap.
That was our weekend! Thanks for your visit and patience with all these photos and memories!
Peace & hugs!! God bless!!

Happy Monday Terri. Enjoyed reading your post. I don't think I'll ever spend $30 on a breakfast myself. I'll have to check out Strike Out on Acorn. Sounds like you really liked it. Enjoyed all your photos too. Have a day of blessings.
ReplyDeleteIt is Striking Out... not Strike Out. Sorry I missed the correct title.
DeleteOh that dachshund picture is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe never go out for breakfast because Jack has all his medical stuff to do in the morning. By the time he finishes, it's nearly lunch time! LOL
Have a great week!
Really like that dog painting. Well done you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I would not be going back to that place for breakfast again either...that is entirely too much to pay. Love the picture of the dachshund...you are very talented my friend. Glad you got to spend some time with your old friend...bet there were lots of stories to tell! Hope the new week is good to you.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to catch up with your friend from Virginia. I think I would like Florida better as well. Some days I want to move from Alabama to Florida!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking at the restaurant's menu and the first item is Million Dollar Bacon so I think for thirty bucks you got off easy.
ReplyDeleteWow $30 breakfast is pricey. I wouldn't go back either. You are very talented. Your doggy painting is adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I'm so taken by this photo (and your description) of your Alexandria home! Probably from reading certain books, I've imagined it as a very stately and romantic city. That dachshund painting is so sweet; I love that beautiful frame!
ReplyDeleteOur "mew" was not enclosed like this area. We could park right in front of our house but the little enclave development really is beautiful. We brought for about $175,000 and sold for $225,000. They are worth around $500,000 now. A good investment for those who stayed!
DeleteI think they have one of those breakfast places in Destin. It is good, but you are right a bit pricey. I am a plain grits and eggs kind of southern girl for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI love the dog painting. That was a great memory.
It is fun catching up with old friends.
Impressive painting!!!! That is so nice that you meet up wit so many friends! Annster's Domain
ReplyDeleteI'm so upset Purdue is doing so well... I swear I thought I picked them... hello, its my area of the country... & I clicked the wrong one & had them out first around against an 11 seed - MESSED UP! DANG IT!
ReplyDeleteI love First Watch, but it is indeed pricey. It's a rare treat for us too.
Your painting is so cute! It made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that breakfast should be cheaper than that.
Glad you had fun with your old neighbor.
The painting really is good! What fun to see it again and have all those memories! You are a good artist. Do you still paint? I'm trying to learn watercolors but I'm going to need just a 'wee bit' more practice! heehee! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading about your weekend adventures.
ReplyDeleteThat was so fun seeing the street you lived on in VA! Since you have lived in FL ever since I know you, it's hard for me to picture you anywhere else! Isn't it so great to get together with people that we knew in previous places?
ReplyDeleteI have so many cat pictures!! These cats have some very definite personality traits!
