Come Saturday Morning
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme! Saturday 9: Come Saturday Morning (1969)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) What are your plans for this Saturday morning? I have to work until 12:30.
2) In this song, a man sings of going away for the day with a friend. Where did you go on your last day trip? I haven't been on a "day trip" in a long time. We drive down to Ft. Meade once a week, to the farm (Joe's client). Maybe that should count! It does take 35-40 minutes to get there and we stay a few hours.
3) The lyrics say, "we will remember long after Saturday's gone." What's something you've done recently that you predict you'll remember for a long time to come? Working in a doctor's office is pretty memorable. Not something I ever aspired to or thought about doing. I'm enjoying it though.
4) This song was the Oscar-nominated theme from the movie The Sterile Cuckoo. What's the first movie song that pops into your head?
5) In the movie, Liza Minnelli played Mary Ann Adams, an eccentric girl everyone called "Pookie." Have you ever been known by a memorable nickname? Only memorable to me. Who gave it to you? My dad would call me T or TeeLee sometimes. My D'Orsaneo nieces call me Aunt T.
6) Today's group began their career as The Grads. Recording artist/producer Herb Alpert liked their sound but hated their name. Alpert picked "sandpiper" at random out of the dictionary. Do you still have and use a bound dictionary? I do have one but rarely look for it when Google is right here. Or do you rely on the internet for word searches and spelling? I totally rely on the internet now for all of that and more!
7) The biggest news story of 1969, the year this song was popular, was one of the biggest news stories of all time. On July 20, Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon. Other than the moon landing, what's the most consequential event that you've seen in your lifetime. How do you feel it changed America and the world? President Kennedy's assassination; 9/11, the Challenger explosion, and let's not forget the Beatles on Ed Sullivan back in 1964. I don't think I need to explain how any of these changed America.
8) 1969 was a big year for music festivals, with Atlanta, Toronto, and Woodstock all holding famous fests. Have you visited Georgia, Ontario or New York (state)? I have visited all of those places.
9) Random question -- According to some plant enthusiasts, house plants do better when they're spoken to. Do you talk to your plants? I don't have plants because I kill them. Talking to them wouldn't help, I'm sure.
Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions! Always fun!! Visit her HERE!!
Your visit today is appreciated!! Happy Saturday!!
Peace & hugs. God Bless!!

My plan for today is a nap! Didnt sleep good last night; have been to Georgia and New York, but not Toronto. I dont use a dictionary any more....I Google it too! I probably have talked to my plants from time to time. We havent taken a day trip lately...we drive to our daughters houses which takes about 30-45 minutes so we may count that. Hope you and Joe have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! This post sure hit home for me! We used to have that album by the Sandpipers, and I loved that song "Come Saturday Morning". It was actually one of the first albums John and I bought together as a newly married couple. We found it to be very "romantic".1969 was the year we were married...so I have many memorable memories from that year in addition to the ones mentioned above. This Saturday morning, today, we are going to take a little road trip over to Sanford to meet with hubby's brother and family at the Cracker Barrel. Our married son is going with us, but his wife has to work. We haven't seen hubby's brother and family since Christmas, and we miss being together as often as we used to be when Nanny was living. We are actually going to celebrate hubby's birthday again with them. So it should be fun. Thank you for reminding me of some pleasant memories with this post...ahhhh, to be young and "romantic" like that again. LOL. We are still romantic, just haven't listened to music like that in a long time.
ReplyDeleteI use Google and spellcheck everyday. I got rid of my dictionary years ago.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Talking to vegetables releases carbon dioxide from one's breath which is good for them. Unless one has been drinking in which case they get drunk too.
ReplyDeleteReal scientific fact from a book I am writing entitled "Modern Fiction".
God bless.
I spoke to my vase of orange roses just this morning, as well as to the sunshine, and none of that is unusual for me. I know they aren't beings that can receive, process and respond to my words, but that's just the way I like to be when I'm feeling cheerful.
ReplyDeleteTo take the romance out of it, my guess is that the carbon dioxide (or whatever it is) in our breath is good for the plants since they take the bad air and make it clean again.
Enjoy your Saturday!
Ah! After writing my comment, I noticed that Victor verified what I had just said. (great minds think alike!)
ReplyDeleteYes! Great minds, indeed!!
DeleteNo house plants for me, Terri, as they wouldn't last a month. I can grow things fine outdoors, but that's it. Enjoy your Saturday!
ReplyDeleteTerri, you and I are kindred spirits in growing plants. I have managed to hang on to two. One was a plant that was given to me when my Daddy died so I have kept it alive for five years now. The other is one of those vines that no one can kill apparently as it is still with me.:)
ReplyDeleteI don't try to have a lot of plants in my house any more! We have such beautiful flower beds and lawns...I like that better! Hope your morning goes well. Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove the pick of the movie song.. thats when movies were movies I could really enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLove your answers,Terri. I think these things are always fun. Your memorable events are the same as mine! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day at work! I love your Trump Tough graphic over in your sidebar! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

Yes .. JFK, Challenger, Ed Sullivan. What pivotal moments we've hard-wired in our consciousness. Loved watching that video clip! Have a great afternoon/evening!

ReplyDeleteI would add the election of Donald Trump to that list.
I liked that last one. I kill plants too! :)
