Boat Drinks
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
3) "Boat drinks" are mixed drinks designed to enhance the enjoyment of a boat ride or time on the beach. Popular boat drinks include The Tequila Sunrise, Cuba Libre, and Mimosa. When did you last sip an alcoholic beverage? Was it a boat drink? I had a glass of wine with our dinner guests last Saturday evening. I don't care for sweet drinks like the Sunrise. I don't care for champagne so Mimosas are also out. I've never heard of a Cuba Libre. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker.
4) Jimmy met his wife, Jane, in Key West at a bar called The Chart Room. Have you ever been to Key West? Yes, I have, and once was enough.
5) Have you ever met anyone worth knowing at a bar? Actually, Joe and I met in a bar/restaurant, so that's a big YES!
6) While Keith Richards and Paul McCartney have made cameo appearances in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Jimmy Buffet has not. Producers have asked him, but he's always had to decline because of his touring schedule. Have you seen any of the Pirates/Jack Sparrow movies? Yes, we have seen all but the latest one and enjoyed them enough to see them again (on DVD).
7) When Jimmy gave the commencement address at the University of Miami, he showed up in flip-flops. How many pairs of flip-flops do you own? None.
8) Jimmy has his own station on Sirius Radio. Do you subscribe to Sirius? Yes, we do. It came with the new car and we are hooked on the 40s Junction station. We both love those old big band sounds and silly songs.
9) Random question: What trend or fad from your youth do you hope never makes a comeback? They have all come back already, for the most part. I was a teen in the 60s. Mini skirts, maxi skirts, and hot pants by any other name....
1) Jimmy Buffett is singing about his bandmates watching hockey in a sports bar. Since it's Super Bowl weekend, our first question is: In cold weather, which sport do you watch most: football, hockey, or basketball? We haven't been watching much hockey because the Flyers are having a horrible season. BUT we have been watching the Eagles football and Villanova basketball. If they are on television, we watch them. I enjoy it, too, by the way.
2) Jimmy sings it's just 20º outside. How high will the mercury reach where you are today? It is to be 76° today, as it was yesterday. Beautiful!!

Thanks to Crazy Sam for this week's questions! You can join the fun HERE!!
Thanks for your visit! Happy Saturday! Peace & hugs.

I still miss my bobby socks! They were so comfortable! :)
ReplyDeleteThey were indeed!
DeleteLOL at your temps...my answers will be up shortly. I hope you and Joe have a beautiful Saturday, smiles.
ReplyDeleteStay warm up there!
DeleteI am jealous of your weather! We're going to have a heatwave our own here today with temps in the low 30s. After that, rain turning to snow overnight, back to rain tomorrow and then snow again and quite possibly every day next week. :-P
ReplyDeleteThanks to my dad I like the sounds of the Big Band era so that sounds like a great radio station.
Enjoy your beautiful weather and have a wonderful weekend!
Wising you a good weekend too, Stacy!
Delete20 degrees here right now. Too cold for me.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your nice weather!
Brrrrr!!
DeleteJimmy Buffet songs always bring back memories to me. I liked and still like his way of singing. As for Key West, once was enough for me too. As for the drinks, I am sure I tasted all of them, back in the day, but no longer for me. And I am pulling for the Eagles tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteFly Eagles, Fly!
DeleteSo many people I love live in and love Key West. I can't imagine not going back. It would be like cutting out my heart. I was so happy to return this past Christmas and see that everything is OK after Irma.
ReplyDeleteGlad your friends are okay! We aren't bar people and we couldn't find the beach. We saw the attractions and took our picture at the end of Route 1, etc. etc. No need to return for us. It is also an 8-hour drive from Lakeland!
DeleteI have a few pairs of Flip Flops and I am looking forward to Flip Flop Weather. 76 degrees sounds perfect. Maybe we need to move to Lakeland.:)
ReplyDeleteCome on down!! I can't wear flip-flops because of a toe joint replacement. I can't walk in them!! Glad the question wasn't about Crocs!
DeleteWhy was once enough (visiting Key West)?
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing there to do once you do the historic tour unless you like to drink in bars. No beach and always crowded. It's a party place and we are too old for partying now. None of the keys are fun unless you have a boat to fish or snorkel. It was worth seeing once. Our opinion.
DeleteNo beach??
DeleteDoes anyone here know that Jimmy Buffet also writes novels? They are excellent entertainment.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Terri!
I did not know that. Will have to look him up!
Delete#'s 4, 5 and 7? Ditto, Ditto, Ditto!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying really hard to be thrifty, but Sirius sounds like something we'd really enjoy.
Wishing y'all a relaxing and remarkable Sunday ... hugs!
Wishing you the same!
DeleteOnce again, I find we are alike! I would love that Sirius station. I always said I was born too late for the music I like. No flip flops for me either, and I'm not much for alcohol, but a glass of wine is good!
ReplyDeleteWe got 6 months of Sirius with the new car and have decided to go ahead and extend it. The deal we have been offered is less than $10.00 a month. There are lots of channels covering all kinds of music, news, and sports.
DeleteI too have seen the fashions come around again. Minis, etc. I hated bell bottom pants in the 70's, still don't like them. Have to go watch the Pats win the super bowl. Sorry Eagles!!! (if they win I will be glad for their fans though.) Love my Pats. Hugs, lj
ReplyDeleteNo flip flops in your closet? Well, they can be uncomfortable (that strap between the toes) and do take some getting used to. My niece tells me flip flops make us walk differently, something to do with spine alignment. That is worthy of consideration...
