Happy New Year Sunday Stealing....

Happy New Year

Thanks to Bev Sykes for this week's Sunday Stealing questions!  Get the questions HERE, answer on your blog then link back with other fans!!

This is a questionnaire that I answer every year because most answers change every year.  You can find it all over the Internet.  Now it's here.

End of Year Questions

1. What did you do last year that you had not done before?  Retired!!

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions/goals for the year and will you make/set more for next year?  What are they? What are your new ones?  I don't make resolutions or set goals anymore.  I'm retired and just want to keep Joe and myself healthy so we can enjoy retirement!

3. Did anyone you know give birth? Or become pregnant?  Or adopt?  Several blogging friends here have new grandchildren.  We have a new 2xgrand niece, Maya Naomi.

4. Did anyone you know die? Or have a serious illness/injury?  Yes, we did have a couple of friends pass away in 2017 and there have been a few serious illnesses.

5. What places have you visited?  We visited family in Ohio and Georgia. No place exotic or foreign.

6. Any new pets? Lost a pet? No new pets and thankfully none lost.  Just our sweet Lucy, Vinny, and Lilly.

7. What would you like to have next year that you lacked this year (doesn't have to be a physical thing i.e. love, job security, peace of mind...)?  Praise God, I can't think of a thing that was lacking in my life in 2017.  Blessed.

8. What date from last year will remain etched in your memory and why? July 31 was my last day at work after 20+ years working at Polk Museum of Art.  I had a party at work, lunch out, and a beautiful write-up in the newsletter.

9. What was your biggest achievement last year?  Selling our home of 28 years and buying a new one....and all that goes into downsizing and moving.

10. Did you get sick or injured?  No more than the usual cold/sniffles.

11. What was the best thing you bought? Our new home!!

12. Where did most of your disposable income go (money leftover after you pay for food, medical care, basic clothing, transportation and shelter)?  We eat out way too much so I have to say restaurants.

13. What song will always remind you of last year?  Doesn't have to be a song released last year.  I'm just not that into music anymore.  The only time we play music is in the car and we use an oldies station and or 50s/60s on Sirius.

14. What do you wish you would have done more of?  Walking on the beach.

15. What do you wish you would have done less of?  Eating out.

16. What was your favorite new TV program? Movie? Album/Songs? Or if you didn't pick up any new ones, what are you still watching/listening to? Any recommendations?  We are TV junkies and especially British TV.  Pretty much anything on Acorn TV is worth a look-see.

17. What was the best book you read this year?  How many did you read?  Probably "A Man Called Ove".  I read book after book after book and don't track them so I can't answer that question.

18. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you? Did you feel differently?  Joe took me out to eat on my birthday.  I turned 66.

19. What political or social issue stirred you the most?  I am thrilled that Donald Trump is our President.  I still want to see Hilary in jail.

20. Who was the most interesting new person you met?  Most new people I meet are interesting!!

21. Describe how a relationship changed.  My being retired has changed my relationship with Joe since I am home all the time. I think he is eating better and I believe we are having more fun!

22. Do you think you are still the same person that you were at the beginning of the year?  How so?  Nope....I'm a woman of leisure now!  LOL  (Are you sick of me answering "retirement" for every question?)

23. Summarize the year in three words or less. Bonus points for doing it in one word. Explain. Retired.

24. How have people around you changed?  We are all older! Ha!

25. What have you learned throughout the year? (Other than crafts) I learned that even though we purged before the move, we still have way too much stuff.

26. Did you learn any new crafts or techniques? What was your favorite thing you made? Nothing new but I really like my two-tiered centerpiece that I can change with the seasons.

27. What changed about your physical appearance? (Hair? Wrinkles? New makeup style? Etc)  I have lost 28 pounds with that many more to go (gained 6 during the holidays but have taken those off); my hair is SHORT; and I stopped wearing makeup.

28. What are your hopes and dreams for the new year?  (Some suggestions-family, travel, work, lifestyle, hobbies, pets, appearance)  I just hope we can keep our finances stable and have fun.  We LOVE our new community and our neighbors. Best decision we ever made was moving here.  Of course, we hope our family will all be healthy and happy and that we will get visits from as many as possible!

Happy Sunday!  We had a great time yesterday, having lunch with our grandson and his mom.  More about that on Monday!

Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs!!

  1. Ha you will have to think of a new topic for next year although of course you will still be retired! lol I'm so glad you are still enjoying it. A Man Called Ove is on my want to read list. (I don't have a copy of it yet so it might not happen although I could probably get it from the library.) I keep track of my reading on Goodreads.

  3. "5. What places have you visited? We visited family in Ohio and Georgia. No place exotic or foreign."

These places are exotic if you live someplace far enough away. ;-)

  7. Adding my own 'amen!' to your #19! What a remarkable year you've enjoyed! You're the 3rd person I know who's mentioned "A Man Called Ove" ... must bear checking it out.

    Have a beautiful day!

  11. I think we are all in agreement on #19, at least those of us who aren't afraid to admit it. I am so happy you retired this past year...isn't it grand? We haven't been anywhere since I retired two years ago. I am hoping this year will change that! Finances are a big issue for us, so we probably won't be going very far...maybe to Lakeland to see a spring training baseball game with some wonderful retired friends...LOL! That would be grand!!! BTW, Ohio and GA are two places we have lived, and would love to go visit again. We have relatives and friends in both places asking us to come...we just can't see to get out of our routine here...

  12. Yay for you for losing 28 pounds! I too gained over the holidays, 8 pounds and have to get it into gear to take it back off again.
I completely agree on #19! And I'm not sick of hearing about retirement. It's a big deal!

  13. Maya Naomi is a little doll!

Keeping yourselves healthy is a most worthy goal for 2018, and something we all have to work at the older we get.
