A new week is ahead of us and with it comes a new month too! November, daylight savings time ends, Thanksgiving happens and we will be full steam ahead for Christmas. WOW! Are you ready?
I usually start my weekend recaps with Friday so I will tell you that I did laundry on Friday and our insurance man came by to sign me up for a new prescription plan to begin in January. It was a pretty lazy day.
Saturday started much earlier than I am used to now!! I actually saw the sunrise!!
Half a bus full of women from Mas Verde, myself included, boarded at 7:30 a.m.
for our trip to Mount Dora for their Arts & Crafts Festival.
We stopped at another community, Sandpiper, to fill the other side of the bus
with residents from there. It was a lively ride with lots of conversations happening.
There were over 400 vendors and artists who took over
the downtown area of Mt. Dora. There was no way to see them all.
There was a sea of people wherever you looked, making
it nearly impossible at times to even see inside the booths.
A bagpipe band marched through a few times
playing some great music. My Highlander blood
sings when I hear bagpipes!
I sat with and walked around with Theresa. We had a great time
We both had the Manicotti, followed by a dip of Gelato for dessert.
The bus pulled out at 3:00 and we were home by 4:45. I was really exhausted and my entire body hurt...not just my knees. That was more walking than I've done in months and months. It was lots of fun, though. I bought some toffee candy from a man who said it was his mom's recipe, and a visor because the sun was almost blinding and I didn't have a hat or sunglasses....and lunch of course.
Sunday afternoon we went to visit with our friend Gregory who is still recovering from his hernia surgery. It was good to see him looking so well and to also get to play with his sweet pup, Paisley. These photos are not from Sunday, but I took them at other times.
And speaking of pets, I took these photos of our sweet cats over the weekend.
This is Vinny's favorite place to sleep lately. It the top tube of our cat tree.
Lilly has claimed a roll of screening that I put on the day-bed out in
our den/catch-all room. She snuggles up to it every day. I need to rescreen one of the
doors and just haven't gotten to it yet. I'll just give her some more time.... (LOL)
Our Lucy....always the Diva, posing for pictures that show her beauty.
We have nothing on the calendar for today OR tomorrow. That feels good after the busy week we had last week. I'm sure we will find something to do. The grocery list is growing so we will most likely be visiting Sam's Club and Publix on one of the two free days.
We were told there are never trick-or-treaters here in Mas Verde so Halloween will skip on by and that is just fine with us. We haven't handed out candy in years and years.
Wishing you a good week ahead and I appreciate your visit here! Peace & hugs!!

The trip to the craft event looks like fun, but with all that walking, I would be 'down' for sure! I love seeing your beautiful kitties and miss mine every day. Hope the new week is less busy and you can rest a little.
ReplyDeleteMy mom and dad usually go to that...I will ask them when I call my dad later (it's his birthday 73rd today).
ReplyDeleteNo trick or treater's this year, I will be in the hospital and hubby said he wasn't going to "deal with it." lol
Going to the arts and crafts festival sounds like such a fun time!! And it cracked me up when you told of the kitty snuggling up to a roll of screen. They are the sweetest and most amusing little creatures. I bet ours would like a cat tree like that. Have a good week, Terri.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great craft fair but as you said, with the crowds, it would be difficult to enjoy all of it. Praise God though for such a great turn-out of vendors.
ReplyDeleteCats - - our two - - especially our sweet KitCat ALWAYS find the new or clean item that has been set down - - even if momentarily!!! It's like a magnet drawing them.
Arts + Crafts Show looks like fun. I love looking at handmade things.
ReplyDeleteLast year was the 1st year we didn't buy any T or T candy. We aren't buying any this year either. Seems most of the kids go to Trunk or Treat events instead of door to door.
Glad to hear your friend is doing well.
Your fur babies are adorable.
Have a great day!
What a fun weekend. I love a good art & craft fair. So many ideas!!!
ReplyDeleteI had manicotti too this weekend - I can eat that every day!
Oh, what fun you must have had a the craft fair. I love those things. I'm sorry you were hurting afterward, though...hope that pain has subsided. Yummy looking food, too. And, your fur babies are all so beautiful. Glad you don't have too much on your plate for this week...take it easy and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have been able to resist "mom's recipe" either! :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa, a sea of people is right! I recall falling in love with one vendor's hand-carved walking sticks -- then catching an attitude because 'someone' wouldn't buy it for me. One of a kind, for sure. I'd buy one today if the opportunity presented itself.
I think Vinny's stolen my heart. :)
Looks like you had lots of fun! I love bagpipes too and would have been thrilled to hear them.
ReplyDeleteWe hardly get any trick or treaters here either.
I knew you would be exhausted after that trip...I did it one year and just walking from our parking place to the "fair" was enough for me, but of course that was just the beginning...and then we still had to walk back to the car at the end of the day...It was fun, but I think I'll look at my arts and crafts on pinterest! LOL. But to meet you in Mt. Dora sometime to visit and have lunch would be marvelous! Let me know when...hubbies too, right? Relax and rest up this week. That's what I am doing. Next weekend (11th) is our son's wedding...
ReplyDeleteNo, I am not ready. I heard on the news this morning that Christmas is just 56 days away. Noooooooo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the pictures. It looks like it was a wonderful festival and a beautiful day for it. Hope you got plenty of rest today and feeling back to normal.
Thanksgiving is my favorite so I am happy to usher in November. October was nice though, but I look forward to more quiet evenings at home preparing for the holidays. You can't go wrong with gelato for dessert : )
