I am linking my Thankful Thursday post with Rebecca Jo, over at Knit by God's Hand. Check out her post if you have time and aren't already connected to this sister in Christ who writes the best thankful lists each week!!
I decided I have to spend this thankful session on friendship. I am SO blessed with such good people in my life, starting with my VBFF (very best friend forever) Joe. Good golly does he put up with me!! It must be love is all I can say.
This week has been filled with friends and friendship. Monday night, Joe and I were treated to dinner out with my former boss and friend, Claire. We had a great time. Claire is Greek and she bakes THE BEST Greek cookies. She brought us a baggie full of them! When I asked Joe what he wanted for breakfast on Tuesday morning, he said he didn't care as long as it included some of Claire's cookies!
On Tuesday, we had a meeting with our insurance agent who has become more than just a business acquaintance (referred by another friend). It is time to renew our Medicare supplements and prescription plans. He spent over two hours with us here at the house and we also got to see pictures of his so sweet new daughter. He is also giving us a gift card because we gave him a couple of referrals. Yay!
Wednesday started with a 7:30 phone call from our friend Helen, who asked us to take her to urgent care. She wasn't feeling well. Helen is 89 so we don't take her health problems lightly. Joe called his client (at the farm) to tell her we would be late. Fortunately, it was nothing and the doctor had her laughing while telling her she should use her walker ALL THE TIME and that she needs to eat better. We dropped her off at home. I told her I would stay with her until Cheryl (niece) got home from work but she shooed me out. She really was okay. She called twice during the day to tell me she is doing okay. :) Cheryl called me too so I could tell her about the doctor visit.
Of course, Joe's clients, who have become our friends too, allow me to commune with their animals while Joe works with them. The horses were too far out in the pastures to see them, but I got time with three of the dogs, three goats, a parrot, a cockatoo, and a bunch of chickens and roosters who are free-ranging since Irma blew their coop away. The sky, as we drove off the farm was gorgeous! While there I also finished a book I have been reading "Eleanor Olifant is Completely Fine" by Gail Honeyman. It is being made into a movie and I look forward to seeing it. The book was really good!
Wednesday evening, we were treated to dinner out with Gregory and his parents. We were thrilled to see Gregory doing so well (thanks to those who have been praying for his recovery!) and getting out and about already. His surgery was just a week ago Monday. The staples are out and he is healing well. He is even allowed to drive already when he isn't taking pain pills anymore. His folks are so nice and we have known them for years, too (though they live in NC). Gregory is a good friend.
Today I have time to dwell on blogging friends and what a blessing our little 'community' here is! We are also excited that Lynda and her hubby will be here on Monday to spend a few hours with us. Meeting blogging friends in person is always a blessing and this is our third meet-up with the Harringtons. There will be photos!!
Tomorrow will be filled with more friends! Our across-the-street neighbors are going to Mazarro's with us. They are Italian from upstate New York. They hadn't heard of Mazarro's Italian Market so we are excited to introduce them!! Friday night we are going to dinner with Helen and Cheryl to celebrate Cheryl's birthday. I ordered a birthday cake from Publix and we will enjoy it back at our house after dinner. Friends!! Blessings!!
What are you thankful for today? Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs.

I was going to say you are lucky to have so many good friends. But really luck has nothing to do with it. It's just a reflection of how good a friend you are to others.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear someone having a wonderful time in retirement. Time to spend with friends and family. Can't beat it!! :)
ReplyDelete89! Wow..I wonder what you know when you’re 89.

ReplyDeleteEspecially friends that bake Greek cookies ;) haha
I love your friend knew to call you all to take her to the urgent care. Glad that was all OK.
So glad you are having so much fun with all your friends. Visiting with all those animals sounds like fun too. Hope you have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post full of thanks. I'm grateful for my blogging friends, too...although I'm slack in visiting like I should.
ReplyDeleteWow, I nearly get tuckered out hearing about all your fun exploits. Way to celebrate retirement!
ReplyDeletePS - Happy to hear Helen is OK. Getting older can be dicey, indeed.
I'm thankful for friends too - such a blessing! And you are a good friend. Glad you could help Helen out and then have a fun, busy day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post, Terri. I too am thankful for friends and hope to make more here at Blogger. I think I will check out the hostess of your thankful Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI love how much you are enjoying your retirement! God has blessed you with so many good friends (and places to eat!) I am thankful that we have this place to get acquainted and have such wonderful friends online.
ReplyDeleteIt seems the older we get, the more important our friends become. Maybe it is because we have more time for friendships after we have raised our families and have retired. I am so happy that you have "international" friends. They broaden our outlook on life. Have a wonderful weekend!
