Thursday has arrived and that means it is time to link-up with Rebecca Jo at Knit By God's Hand for her Thankful Thursday!! Join in HERE!
Yesterday was "farm day" (I go with Joe to his clients' farm and I commune with the animals while he does the accounting work). Cattle and horses, dogs and goats..... here is a peek at why I am so thankful for Wednesday farm days!
Last night Joe and I went to a benefit "red carpet" showing of "Same Kind of Different as Me". We have three excellent homeless shelters here in Lakeland. One of them, Lighthouse Ministries, got to do this fundraiser for the movie that doesn't open until Friday. I am happy to say that they filled two theaters for the event!! Thankful that we could attend and thankful for Lighthouse and the money they raised for holiday meals.
I did not read the book, so wasn't sure what to expect. When I saw several women carrying in big boxes of tissues I got the idea that it would be a tear-jerker, and it is.
The movie is really good. Joe and I both had tears. We also laughed. One of the best lines was when Denver said: "....you really have to bless the hell out of some people". Truth that.
I have to mention that (I think) Renee Zellweger ruined her face with plastic surgery. What makes a successful actress like her and several others decide to drastically change their looks? She isn't 'ugly' but she sure isn't Renee Zellweger anymore. Sighing.
Thanks for visiting today!! Go see the movie! Peace & hugs.

I had to giggle over the comment about Renee Zellweger. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteI read the book a long time ago, Terri. Sounds like a good date night movie for us.
ReplyDeleteI have just recently heard about the movie. Would like to see it, but under my circumstances, it would mean I could read the book instead of going to see the movie. Wonder why Renee Z. decided to change her looks? Seemed fine to me as she was.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Renee recently so now I am gonna have to look her up so I can see what she looks like now.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
It's so sad how far plastic surgery can go - especially when she was so beautiful & had such a unique look to begin with.
ReplyDeleteI may have to check out that movie when we're on vacation next week. When does it come out? I'll have to look
It comes out here tomorrow (Friday, Oct 20).
DeleteLooking forward to seeing it..
ReplyDeleteThank you for the good review of the movie. I would love to see it. The book was very good. I don't know the actress you spoke of as I haven't seen a current movie in a long time...something I'd like to change...but hubby isn't a big movie goer. Waits for it to come on TV. (cheap! LOL) I'll have to look her up, before and after pics. I do not like plastic surgery results just for vanity sake. I've rarely ever seen it to make an improvement. Why can't we all just grow old gracefully??? :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a good movie. I will have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteI want to see this movie too.
ReplyDeleteI saw my first (commercial) spot for this movie not an hour ago. We don't care to attend movies on opening weekends, but I'd really like to see it soon.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the movie. I never read that book either, but would like to see the movie. I agree on Renee Zellweger. I think that often plastic surgery makes people look worse, or not themselves.
ReplyDeleteI love farms and sometimes really miss the farm life. I want to see that movie. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting. Hope all is better here soon so I can get back to visiting blogs and commenting. Hugs and blessings
