Monster Mash
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Monster Mash (1962)
6) While Halloween is most popular in the United States and Canada, and isn't really celebrated at all in Japan or South Korea. How would you explain our Halloween customs to a visitor from another land? Fun for kiddos and a chance for adults to pretend they are someone else. I would send them to Wikipedia since I don't really understand it myself.
Thanks for coming by my blog! Happy Saturday!! Peace & hugs.
Saturday 9: Monster Mash (1962)
Unfamiliar with this week's featured song? Hear it here.
1) In your younger days, did you ever trick or treat while dressed as a monster or ghoul? I don't remember dressing up as a monster or ghoul. Actually, I don't really remember any of my costumes. Not very memorable I guess.
2) Do you enjoy being frightened by celluloid boys-gone-bad, like Michael Myers (Halloween) or Jason (Friday the 13th)? No. I have never watched those movies and don't believe I ever will. Give me Hitchcock or the old black and white Chiller Theater style movies any day. No blood or guts and SO scary!
3) When you were a kid, did you ever TP a neighbor's house or indulge in any other Halloween acts of vandalism? (Don't worry, the statute of limitations is up.) Several of us TP'd our band director's house one Halloween.
4) Will you be attending any Halloween parties this year? If so, will you dress up? No Halloween parties and I don't dress up anymore.
5) Can you see any Halloween decorations as you answer these 9 questions? Just these little guys....

7) "Monster Mash" is one of Halloween's most played songs. Are you happy to hear it every year? Or does it set your teeth on edge? Haha. I enjoy hearing it and actually know most all of the words to sing along. There is a dance that goes with it too. If you were a teen in the 60s, you probably know how to do it!
8) This week's featured artist, Bobby "Boris" Pickett, started as a stand-up comedian who incorporated his imitations of Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi into his act. Can you impersonate anyone? No, I can't. It would be fun though!
9) Dick Clark was an impossibly young looking 33 in this week's featured clip. Are you often told you look good for your age? I've been told I look younger than my nearly 66 years. Now that my hair is 'natural' (not colored) that doesn't happen often anymore.
Thanks to Sam Winters/The Gal Herself for this week's questions!! Happy Halloween! You can find the questions and link-up HERE!!

I love Hitchcock movies. I just watched Psycho last night.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I have never been a fan of scary movies, however my niece, Laura, loves them She just saw IT at the theater. Clowns creep me out and a maniac clown would keep me awake at night!!:)
ReplyDeleteGreattttttttttttttt......I'm singing the song now, lol. I enjoyed your answers, Terri. Have a beautiful day, friend.
ReplyDeleteNo scary movies for me...but I do enjoy Hitchcock films. I guess that would be considered a good mystery. I like Monster Mash too, it's cute, and there's nothing scary about that song. Enjoyed your answers today..hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes! to Chiller Theater and Chilly Billy! We also watched a similar show that came from Ohio...Supe's On. I think it came from Akron or someplace. The host, Supe, was a middle-age chubby guy in a bad Superman-ish costume who talked and looked like an old drunk.
ReplyDeleteOur shows came out of Columbus. I don't recall Supe but we sure watched Chiller Theater every Friday night!
DeleteI have never been a big Halloween lover, even as a child. Blood and guts I got enough of in nursing school..lol..we dont even have many children that trick or treat us on that day either. I have to say I look my age. Nuf said!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I missed out on this one. We are out of town. No scary movies for me. I did enjoy suspense like The Man Who Knew Too Much and other Hitchcock movies. The Monster Mash was popular when I was in 8th grade. I can do an impersonation of Edith Anne.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Halloween and don't like that it has become such a big deal around here. People decorate quite elaborately these days. We do pass out candy.
I never trick or treated as a kid - no one in our area, out in the country did. I did do my share of TP'ing though! :)
ReplyDeleteHitchcock was genius, wasn't he? I can't recall watching a single 'scary' movie since the Exorcist ... which, actually, made me giggle.
