Weekend Recap on Monday....

Well, it was another somewhat uneventful weekend. It has been nice, though.  We were hoping our granddaughter would make it up for a visit, but on Friday she texted me that she was having car trouble and couldn't make it after all.  It's a long ride from Boca Raton (3-4 hours) and no fun at all by yourself.  We would never ask her to try it when her car isn't running right.  She said to give her a couple of pay periods (her words) so it might be more than just a little problem. I'm sure mom will help when she gets home and hears about it.

Today is grandson Tritan's 20th birthday. Their mom, Kathy, flew out to spend the weekend with him in Dallas, at SMU. I'm sure they are having a good time. It is also parent's weekend so it worked out well for her to be there.  Next weekend, our son Joe (their dad) and Darlene are driving out to Dallas to spend a few days with Tristan.

But OUR weekend started Friday evening with an opening reception for two new exhibits at the Museum. Gallery I has part of George Lowe's art collection on exhibit, including a few pieces of his own work. George lives in Lakeland and was at the reception.  You probably don't recognize his name, but he does lots of voice-over work and he was the voice of Space Ghost on Space Ghost Coast to Coast, which was a late-night adult cartoon that was pretty popular a few years ago

George is giving a talk about his collection this coming Thursday.  Friday, at the opening, Josephine Sacabo is the one who spoke about her art, which is in our Gallery II. She is a photographer from New Orleans.  A Gallery For Fine Art represents her work.  You may remember that Joe and I peeked in there when we were in New Orleans last year. Here is a link for some images of her work.  And this is a shot taken in our auditorium during her talk.

Some friends from Tampa came to the opening who we hadn't seen in ages, so it was good to reconnect with them and to introduce them to our Executive Director.  By the time we got out to the area where the food was being served, it was all gone.  We were hungry, so we left fairly quickly and went to Reececliff for some dinner. By the time we got home, it was after 9:00.

Saturday we slept in (9 hours of sleep is such a luxury) and then went to Sam's Club and Publix for groceries. I also got a new printer!! My old one was not compatible with Windows 10 and I was fighting it all the time, usually losing. It was almost six years old and was not expensive so we tossed it and I got a new HP printer at Sam's, also not expensive but new and it works.

Sunday we slept in again.  I actually was up around 8:30 and Joe didn't get up until nearly 10:00.  He spent part of the day working on some client files. I got the laundry done and a little cleaning. I have to show you what Vinny does when he doesn't like the cat food I put down for them.  He can really make a mess....food gets flung on the dryer, on the wall, on the floor and he tries to cover it up with the newspaper like he is covering his poo in the litter box.  Stinker.

It is still hot here in Florida. Instead of being in the 90s it is in the high 80s, but we still have high humidity and rain every afternoon or evening. Now we are also watching hurricane Matthew to see which way he will be heading come mid-week.

So another week begins. Welcome, October!!  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs.

  1. Sounds like you had a great weekend. That cat is hilarious....it's almost like they are little kids. ;-) We're getting some cooler, fallish weather here in East Tennessee and this old gal is loving it! I decided after nearly a month of 90+ temps that I'm definitely not a summer person. LOL HOPE you have a great Monday!

  2. Glad you had a quiet, restful weekend. You are usually so busy and on the go, it has to be nice to play catch up. Do you like Windows 10? I downloaded it, and didnt really like it, so uninstalled, but that was some time ago, so maybe it is better now. Hope your Monday is good...be blessed dear friend.

    1. Linda, we have Windows 10 at work and at home so I have gotten quite used to it. My old printer just wasn't compatible. I'm happy with W10.

  3. I will take an uneventful weekend any time Terri!:) Sorry you did not get to see your granddaughter and I would not want any of mine on the road with car problems.

  4. We're keeping our eye on that hurricane too. I hope and pray it goes out to sea and bothers no one. Sounds like a fun Friday night! Exposure to culture. Imagine that! Not that we don't have cultural events here. I just don't seem to get out to attend them. Totally my fault. Too funny about the cat food. Cats are interesting creatures for sure. Have a wonderful Monday!

  7. Vinny sure knows how to send a message! Our temps are still in the 80's too, but the humidity has been low. That makes it a lot better, cool nights in the 60's. Your Halloween blog décor is cute!

  9. I'm watching to see what happens with this hurricane. I'm used to tornado warnings, but don't have a clue what we will need to do in a hurricane!

  11. Oh that Vinny can be a rascal! And I know you're eager for retirement to come, but you certainly do have an interesting place to work in the meantime! Love all your sidebar posters!! xo

  12. Knowing someone whose car broke down on Alligator Alley, I'm relieved to hear your granddaughter opted to stay home -- for now!

Vinny's evidence is a panic! When our girls cop an 'attitude' about their food, they know my hubby will cave and give them ham. (Me, I'm the 'bad' mom.) I like your kitty stencils!

  13. I love Windows 10 and have no plans of every going back to the previous Vista. LOL---it has been crisp and rainy here in western NY--not complaining, smiles

  14. Bad storm down my way today. 40 plus MPH wind gusts, lightening, thunder. Glad my double wide is tied down. I long to return to the bunker but this will have to do for now. I think the weather might be ready to break here in Florida? I notice a couple of days it didn't make 90!!

  15. Our Oliver is messy like that too. :)
Hope your granddaughters car isn't too expensive. Cars can be such a pain! Glad you had a nice weekend.

  16. Too bad your granddaughter couldn't come. But you did probably get more sleep, haha!!

I've had my HP printer at least 8 or 9 years. Every now and then when I'm scanning things I wonder if it's going to die, but it keeps plugging along.

Our hot summer weather is pretty much over, I guess. I even had to turn some heat on once or twice.
