Thanks to Sam Winters for this week's Saturday 9 meme! Join in the fun HERE.
If I Knew You Were Comin' ...
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
5) In 1961, Ms. Barton got married in Juarez, Mexico. What's the longest distance you've ever traveled to attend a wedding? From Florida to Pennsylvania.
6) In 1950, when this song was popular, the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup. Are you looking forward to the upcoming NHL season? Yes, I enjoy hockey and am always happy when Joe's Flyers win a game.
9) Random question: Think about the last "white lie" you told. Was it to spare someone's feelings, or to make your day go more smoothly? I learned a long time ago that I'm a terrible liar and it just gets you into more trouble. I don't even tell little white lies. If your jeans make you look fat, I'll tell you they do.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
1) This song is performed by a woman who is positively tickled to have unexpected company. How do you feel when people drop by unannounced? Family or friends....come on by anytime!! Salesmen or other peddlers, please just go away.
2) She is clearly proud of her skills in the kitchen. Do you enjoy baking? Cooking? I love to bake and cook for a crowd. Just for the two of us...not so much.
3) Reference is made to hiring a band. Tell us the last time you were at an event with live music. Back in May, at the Museum's Mayfaire art festival.
4) After making recordings in the early 1950s, Eileen Barton appeared on daytime TV in the early 1960s -- including a game show called Video Village. Let's say we're all headed to a TV game show taping this morning. Would you volunteer to appear as a contestant? No. Or would you rather just stay in the audience? Yes.

7) 1950 also marks the first time anyone in the United States paid by credit card. Do you pay with a credit card to get rewards? We use our debit card for practically everything, and if we press the credit button instead of the debit button, we get cashback rewards. If yes, what rewards are you accumulating (points, cash back, airline miles)? Cash back.
8) In 1950, an athlete named Florence Chadwick swam the English Channel. Are you a good swimmer? Not as strong as I used to be in my younger years, but I was, at one time, a qualified lifeguard.

It was a relatively easy Q & A this week! Thanks for your visit!! Peace & hugs.

How do I feel when unexpected company comes by? My first thoughts run wild -- have I left anything out that would embarrass me? (smile)
ReplyDeleteFamily and friends, yes, do come on in. Sales people, no thank you!
Have a good weekend!
Dont mind visitors, dont like to bake or cook at all, been a long time since I was somewhere that a band was playing, and the last wedding was local. Never been to a hockey game and know nothing about the game. Simple questions and easy to answer. Enjoy your Saturday.
ReplyDeleteRe #7 -- You're very smart to hit "credit" because it takes a little longer for the transaction to hit your account than "debit" does. Sometimes it's just hours, but it can be up to 3 days. So in addition to your rewards, you may be earning a little more interest.
ReplyDeleteso, my husband told me that his mother stopped by yesterday...and proceeded to be nosy, right into my little office area that is quiet messy and she made some commments....oh I can imagine the thoughts on FB on that...but, you know, I like having unexpected company. smiles
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day friend.
You are my kind of girl, Ms. Terri....just tell it like it is, no beating around the bush. I MUCH prefer honesty to flattery and lies. HOPE you have an awesomely blessed day!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You are brutal. LOL! I love honesty, too and maybe someday I will knock on your door and we will have some good Italian food.
ReplyDeleteI love to bake but not for a crowd.
ReplyDeleteDepends how clean my house is whether I'm happy to have unexpected company. lol
Enjoy the weekend!
I vaguely remember that song from my childhood. I always enjoy reading your answers to questions Terri!!
ReplyDeleteI love that little song...and remember it well. I didn't know it was from 1950, the year I was born!!! I wonder how many times we have quoted that line "If I knew you were coming I'd a baked a cake"? I know I've said it before...mostly with a laugh and a smile. I do like to bake, but I like to have a little notice if someone's coming. However, I'd never turn anyone away. They just may have to eat peanut butter and jelly if I'm not prepared! LOL.
ReplyDeleteFinally, a song I recognize! *lol* For #5, for me, Jacksonville, Florida, to Omaha, Nebraska. The visit to Nebraska was worth it but the wedding was forgettable. Hope your day is blessed. ~:)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, but ha, ha....remind me not to ask you how I look in my jeans!

ReplyDeleteTerri, very interesting! I do recognize the song. I am happy to bake/cook for a crowd IF given ample notice! And I would feel safe swimming with you. I can't swim to save my life (but you could!) ♥
ReplyDeleteI really need to check out those rewards cards. So far, I've (stubbornly) refused to check out other institutions, on account I'm grandfathered into a really low rate.
ReplyDeleteYour candor is so refreshing!
