In the Fall, I always lament about not getting to enjoy visiting an apple orchard. It is the one thing I miss about 'the north'.
BUT....when a co-worker goes to visit his parents in North Carolina and brings back a box full of apples from an honest to goodness apple orchard, I can bite into one of them and close my eyes and (almost) pretend that I picked it myself.
I don't know what kind they are (and he doesn't either) but they are a little tart but also sweet, very juicy and so crisp. What more does one need when the weather turns to sweater weather and the seasons are changing?
I've had one already and am sure to get another before they are gone. Sharing them with everyone is necessary. Even though I know his parents, they are not all for me! Ha! Glad we have a small staff!!
So make me feel bad and tell me that you have been to an orchard this year. Or maybe you aren't an apple person?
Thanks for your visit today! Peace & hugs!!

I call them mountain apples Terri. I have a friend who is from NC as well and she brought me some this year. They are delicious.
ReplyDeleteNo, we haven't been....and what a great idea..the weather has been pretty lousy, maybe this coming weekend. Have a beautiful Tuesday, Terri.
ReplyDeleteMy fave apple is honey crisp but we can't afford them so I get Jazz apples. They are like smaller honey crisp apples. I have never been to an orchard. We get ours from the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteI love apples any way they can be fixed. My fav for just munching on is Gala. They have such tasty insides. Yum! ~:)
ReplyDeleteI almost hate to post it, but yes, I have been to an apple orchard already this year. We like Mutsu, honey crisp and granny smith. I dont care for the mushy kinds. Glad you get to enjoy some from an orchard tho! Hugs
ReplyDeleteAh....a friend and her mother went to an apple orchard yesterday. She is bringing apples to Bible study tonight!
ReplyDeletePretty to look at -- but sorry, I'm not fond of fruit. (Hangs head in shame ....)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're enjoying a taste of Fall, even if it is by proxy! That's one thoughtful co-worker!
I haven't been, but I bought a bunch of apples (honeycrisp) from a boy at church. His sports team sells apples fresh from the orchard every year as a fund raiser. Now that's a fund raiser I like!
ReplyDeleteMissed visiting yesterday. I'm pretty sure we're heading to Carver's Apple Orchard in Cosby today. I'll share pics Friday. Wish you could go with us.
