Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 283
1. What would you say is the best and worst thing about moving house? The best is the cleaning out and disposing of stuff that hasn't seen the light of day in years. The worst is the back-breaking packing and toting. Of course, moving into that new house and making it home is the fun part, while saying goodbye to the old homestead can sometimes be sorta sad. It will start for us in a few months as we begin to prepare for downsizing and moving.
2. What's moved you recently? It was great seeing grandson Tristan for a weekend last summer, before he headed back to college. I was moved by how much he has matured in just a year. I have been moved to tears seeing my 97 year-old grandma failing and anticipating "that call" one of these days soon. This picture was posted by her brother on Facebook earlier this week.
3. Do you feel your life is moving forward, backward, or is it on hold? Moving forward. How so? I'm keeping on track with the forward movement toward that retirement date!
4. On the move, move mountains, get a move on, it's your move, or bust a move...which phrase best applies to some aspect of your life right now? Get a move on!! Explain. I am a slug these days. I'm short on motivation. I need to start moving and eating healthier. I am a slug and I'm beginning to be disgusted with myself.
5. What song makes you want to get up and move? I wish I knew, so I would get my butt off the sofa and start moving!
7. What one accessory makes your house feel like home? Just one? Three litter boxes; the cat condo in the living room; cat toys in a basket; I'm halfway laughing about this, but our pets do help make a house a home, even the cat hair on the furniture and rugs. Our house is comfortable. You are welcome to tuck your feet up on the sofa and eat your Cappuccino Fudge Blitz while watching TV. It is not from the pages of a magazine - not even close.
8. Insert your own random thought here. Sometimes a random thought just pops into my head when I get to this question, but not today. My head is too full of bank statements and payroll from work and with medicare insurance stuff, hoping we will sell our house and find a new one with good timing and all that goes with it. My brain has been too busy for random these days. Good golly.
Actually a random did just pop into my head as an underwire poked my side. Gosh, I hate it when an underwire pops through the fabric and bites you. I won't go into detail here, because not everyone reading will be of the gender to understand, but those of you who do get my meaning!! Sometimes it's not even old and worn, either! Hate that!
Thanks for your visit today! Happy hump day! Peace & hugs.

LOL on the random thought....that HURTS!!! Great answers....HOPE you have a great day!
ReplyDelete...and that is why I don't wear underwire, lol. (after the cancer and breasts removal, I don't need too, it would be to uncomfortable anyways on the scars--still) TMI, sorry...giggling
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers....I do feel for you about your grandmother....my folks got a call about my paternal grandmother, not much longer....sad to say....she is 96 and has dementia.
Keeping you in prayer, Terri....and I loveeeeee your background here. smiles
I think many of us are 'blank' these days. We have been flooded with all the political stuff until I have shut off. A very nice picture of your grandmother..praying she has peace and comfort in her days to come. Our house is exactly like yours...comfortable...take it or leave. God bless you in a special way today.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I don't wear underwire. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Oh I LOVE your choice of snack Terri. I will have to look for that flavor.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry about the motivation problem. That tends to take care of itself when time gets short! (yes, that's the problem, right?) I enjoyed your post today.
ReplyDeleteNow Terri, I always enjoy your answers and today, you made me sad, and you made me laugh. So I guess your answers today moved me!!! It's a great feeling watching someone mature and truly sad to watch a loved one failing. I understand.
ReplyDeletelol, those underwires are little devils! I've been a slug too, a slug in a slump! Smile, you're on candid camera...NOT! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou described my feelings about moving to a tee!
ReplyDeleteIf we hadn't been in the path of "Matthew", I'd have been a slug, too. Once the cleanup is over, I may return to that status for a while... I hope your family in Brunswick survived okay.
Ah, those pesky underwires. I tried them, once, but couldn't deal with it!
Kathy (Reflections)
For me, visiting someone is all about them, not about any cat hair that might be on the sofa. I know I'd feel comfortable in your home, Terri, especially if you gave me two scoops of that delicious ice cream with nuts sprinkled on top. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou love your cats and I LOVE that! We just brought a new kitty into our home this past weekend, adopted her from the SPCA. We hope she likes our new home :) Also, I love what you wrote about your grab and go snacks :) good stuff out there!
ReplyDeleteI probably should have said pretzels too. I like the flat kind and just four or five take the edge of my hunger. I think it's so easy to slip into the habit of not moving. Harder to slip into the habit of moving : ) I say just start. Hopefully it's cooler there and you can maybe get out for a walk. I much prefer outdoor exercise to a gym.
ReplyDeleteIt's heart wrenching to watch those we love age and begin to fade. I've lost so many loved ones too. Just remember that in Christ we are being renewed (spiritually) daily. That's what really counts. For those that trust and believe in Christ, we'll see them again.
ReplyDeleteHope the move goes easily and as planned. I hope my moving days are over. My husband and dogs make the house a home too. Doesn't matter where we are as long as we're together then I am content. ~:)
I love what you said about tucking my feet up on the sofa, grabbing a spoon and watching TV! (I HOPE our guests feel that way, too.) My SIL has a gorgeous home, but when we visited last year I felt like a little girl, trying to remember to mind her manners and not get anything dirty.
ReplyDeletePraying for your grandmother's comfort .....
Again you make me laugh! I hate the underwires. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're cracking me up! I absolutely HATE bras with underwires. Never, ever wear them. Wow, that ice cream sounds delish. I hardly ever buy boxes of ice cream unless company's coming. I buy boxes of popsicles for Dick's sweet tooth. I'd rather have salty stuff.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! To have both a grandma AND a grown grandson...that is such a blessing! None of my great-great grandparents were still living when I was born and only two of my great-grandmothers. I had all of my grandparents until the year I turned 15. The last, my granny, passed away the year I turned 45. You are so very blessed...this just touches me to the core. I guess I sound silly going on about it. I can't help it. My grandmothers meant the world to me and I have yet to become a grandma and may not live to see that day. Thank you for sharing your grandma with us here. She is a beautiful lady. Please give her a hug for me.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed week!
I'm sorry your grandma is not doing so well but fantastic that she's in her 90's and has been around for grandchildren and great grandchildren for so long. I had to laugh at the underwire comment. I've had that issue more than once. I'm sure when you get really into the moving phase of your transition into retirement you will have plenty to do to stop you being a slug. But I never think of you as being a slug - you're working and always sound busy. Transition can be difficult at times and unsettling so don't be too hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your grandma and her failing health. It's really hard when our senior loved ones become a shell of their former selves and inevitably pass on. On Question #7 I am allergic to cats so no way that would work for me. SWMBO and I do love our little dogs though. Thanks for visiting.
