Friday Foto Friends.....

Joining Debbie at Breathing in Grace for Friday Foto Friends!

Checking in from Xenia, Ohio.  Sorry yesterday's pictures didn't show up. I should not have copied and pasted them and won't try that trick again. My bad.  They were cute pictures.

Our two-day journey to Ohio was good.  Traffic had its moments and we did see two very bad accidents that tied up traffic really bad - heading south. We were thankfully not in those back-ups, but there were definitely gridlocks in Atlanta on Thursday and again in Cincinnati yesterday. You just can't get through big cities without traffic tie-ups.  We forget how bad Washington, DC was when we lived there and put up with it every day.

On Thursday, we stopped at my sister's, near Valdosta, GA, and had lunch with her and Bruce.  We stayed a couple of hours and were so happy to see Bruce doing so well. He has made some big improvements since we saw him last. He also had some eye surgery done and his sight is much better now. When he gets new glasses (soon) they are hoping he can stop using the walker and just use a cane to get around. Tammy had a good lunch for us.  We gave them their birthday gifts (Bruce's is May 31 and Tammy's is June 5th.)  I hope we will have time for another visit on our way back home, but didn't want to chance it. We had fun, were well fed, and it was a nice break in our long day on the road.  We stopped for the night north of Chattanooga, TN and found ourselves eating dinner at 9:00 p.m. It was a long day.

We got to Xenia a couple of hours later than we hoped to but got to spend a couple of hours with Grandma in the evening.  We will be spending most of the day with her today, and made arrangements last night to have lunch with her in the dining room.  We don't even have to pay for it! I thought that was very nice.  It is good to see her thriving in her new environment. They do keep the residents busy and have been doing therapy with her every day for her hands and legs. I think she is happy.

This planter is the one we (sisters) all sent to her when she went to the hospital. It still looks great!

The flowers in the vase are artificial, but she had a florist do the bouquet so it looked like the fresh flowers we (sisters) sent her for Mother's Day. I thought that was really nice!  The hanging planter outside her window was a Mother's Day gift and the bird feeder was busy while we were there.

Thanks for stopping by today!  We head to Pickerington tomorrow, and will be staying with my sister -in-law (mother of the bride) Saturday night.  The wedding is Sunday.  More photos to come!

Peace & hugs!

  2. SWEET pictures with you grandma! So glad also to hear how well Bruce is doing. That is a LOT of driving! I don't know if my hips could take sitting in the car all day long anymore. We always fly when we go to Florida. Safe travels today!

  3. Soooooo glad you made it safe and sound, despite the horrible traffic. Your Grandma looks really happy, but I'm thinking that's because your and Mr. Joe are visiting her. Seems she's in a really nice place, too. HOPE you have a wonderful weekend...looking forward to more pics. Stay safe, though.

  4. So glad you made it to Ohio! You are right about Atlanta. We avoid it when possible.:) My son takes Marta downtown every day to his work at Georgia State and he is very glad for park and ride. The bus takes him to the door of his building! I have never been to Valdosta but I have heard a lot about it. And it sounds as if your grandmother is doing well which is good news indeed. I live about an hour and a half from Chattanooga, maybe some day we can meet when yall are not traveling leisurely!

  8. Wow, y'all made good time!
Big-city traffic aside, I'd rather drive than deal with all the airport hassles.

    Your grandma looks cute!
