Thankful Thursday!!
Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts! Joe's cardioversion (I've been spelling it incorrectly as cardio conversion) went well and he is in normal sinus rhythm!! The doctor told us that it doesn't always hold, especially when the AFib has been going on for awhile, but we are hopeful! His follow-up appointment is Tuesday.
We arrived at the hospital at 7:00ish. He was supposed to be there by 7:30. The procedure was scheduled for 10:00. Oops...bloodwork showed low magnesium. They had to put a drip on and it took nearly two hours. They finally took him in at noon. It took 20 minutes to prep him and get him to sleep and only 2-3 minutes for the actual cardioversion. He was in recovery for a little over two hours, but he did get to eat lunch. We were home by 3:15ish. He went right to bed and slept three hours. He got up for dinner and says he really feels better already. Praise God.
The staff at our hospital are all so great, including the sweet elderly volunteers who "man" the waiting rooms and keep families advised of what is going on and when. The nurses are wonderful and compassionate. We have never had a bad experience at Lakeland Regional Health.
My day was spent waiting. That's what the family members do, though. I had my Kindle with me and was comfortable. Not so bad. The outcome was well worth the wait.
Thanks for checking in!! Peace & hugs.

"The outcome was well worth the wait."

Yes, ma'am, well worth the wait. I am so happy to read that Joe's procedure had a good outcome...keeping you in prayer, friend.
ReplyDeletePrayers that the rhythm holds. We'll do anything for those we love....even wait...and wait...and wait. ;-) I've been WAITing on mine hand and FOOT...LOL (a little play on words since it's his foot that's causing all the WAITing) HOPE you have a great day and got some rest yourself.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Joe's procedure went well. Waiting is hard. I always bring a book too.
