Saturday:9....David Bowie

Thanks to Samantha for this fun Meme every week!  Here is the LINK if you want to join in!

Let's Dance

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Let's Dance (1983)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

In memory of David Bowie (1947-2016).

1) In this song, David encourages his partner to "put on your red shoes and dance." When did you last dance?  It's been a long, long time. I can't even remember.

2) Mr. Bowie recalled that he and choreographer Toni Basil developed a dance step now known as "the moonwalk" for his 1974 tour, nearly a decade before Michael Jackson performed "Billie Jean." Can you think of something you should have gotten credit for, but didn't?  It happens at work now and then, but I don't really care and don't have anything specific.  I'm happy to share something that someone else makes happen.

3) Similarly, the band Roxy Music was upset because Bowie copied their "catsuit look" for his own stage wardrobe and made it famous. What do you usually wear, Monday through Friday?  We 'do' business casual at work and can even wear jeans if we want to. I wear slacks and a nice top with matching accessories.  No more dresses for me!

4) David Bowie was particular about the aftershave he wore, and one of his favorites was by Guerlain. Do you regularly apply cologne or aftershave?  I get migraines from strong scents. There are no perfume or cologne bottles in our house.

5) In school, David's best subject was art. Think back to your own school days. In which class did you excel?  I always got good grades (except for Cs in chemistry and geometry).  Art was my favorite class, but I also got As in biology and English. I was 6th in my senior class, scholastically.  Darn that geometry, music and chemistry.

6) In addition to art and music, David Bowie displayed a keen head for business, leaving a fortune of more than $600,000,000. Would you describe yourself as "good with money?"  I'm an accountant.  I handle the Museum's money well and do my best with our home finances.  We don't, however, have anything close to $600,000,000!! LOL

7) Bowie also appeared in a variety of movies from The Man Who Fell to Earth to Zoolander. Who is your all-time favorite movie actor?  Well, I have a lot of favorites and most of them are long gone. When channel surfing, I will always stop to watch Fred Astaire dance.

8) One of Bowie's hits is "Life on Mars." If you had the opportunity to travel into space, would you take it?  No thanks.

9) The creators of SpongeBob Square Pants are huge Bowie fans and were thrilled when, in 2007, he appeared in an episode. Sam suspects that she may be the only person who hasn't seen that cartoon show. What about you? Have you ever watched an episode of SpongeBob, start to finish?  I've watched, but not start to finish.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

I am writing this Friday night to post in the morning.  We thought Joe might get to go home today (Saturday) but it may not be until Sunday now.  They took his IV drug off to see how he got along without it.  His heart is back in normal rhythm, but it is still racing.  When I left last night, they had to hook him back up because it was spiking at over 150 beats per minute again.  I don't want him to come home with a racing heart. The nurse thinks they may just need to increase his dose of the oral medicine.  They did decide to put him on Eliquis, for which we are thankful!  I'll keep you posted on how he is doing, and I thank you all for your continued prayers!

Peace & hugs!!

  1. Joe is in my thoughts and prayers. I don't blame you for wanting his heart completely regulated before he comes home. I hope it is Sunday. Enjoyed your answers. I never was a David Bowie fan but I was surprised to hear that he was the first to do the moon walk. I also love Fred Astaire but I love Gene Kelly just a tad more! Have a good day.

  5. You know, I am one of the oddballs totally unfamiliar with anything of David Bowie. 😟

Thanks for the update on Joe. Better for the hospital to get him fixed up before coming home. Praying that happens very soon. God bless you both.

  6. I am lost in answering these questions, as I was not a fan of David Bowie, but am a fan of yours and Joe! I dont blame you for not wanting him home until they are sure they have his heart rate balanced. Will certainly keep praying and look forward to your telling us all is well.

  7. I know very little about David Bowie, was never a fan. I still enjoyed your answers, we have a few things in common. I don't wear dresses any more and I was a bookkeeper for many years. AND we don't have $600,000,000 either!! Hope they get Joe's meds adjusted so he can go home. Wishing you a blessed SonDay.

  8. Oh Terri, I hope Joe is doing better tonight and that the medication is working so he will be able to go home with confidence. Continued prayers.

Somehow $600,000,000 doesn't seem like a big deal when you compare it to our current budget deficit.
