I am skipping the Sunday Stealing Meme today, to start showing you photos from our trip this past week to our son & daughter-in-law's home in Brunswick, Georgia. We had a wonderful time and they treated us like royalty! Seriously!
Joe and Darlene at their front door. I asked them to pose after we were done with the hugs!
Zoe was happy to see "Grandma & Grandpa"....
.....and so was Brooke!
We arrived later than anticipated because Joe had to visit Urgent Care Monday morning. We weren't sure we would get to go, but he was just (just) having asthma trouble. Some prednisone and an antibiotic got us on the road by 11:00 instead of 9:00. The kids held off on dinner until we arrived, and then we ordered sandwiches from one of their favorite take-out spots. They were delicious! We spent the evening catching up on their news and enjoying the company!
On Tuesday, we took our time getting up and having breakfast, then headed out for Jekyll Island. What a pretty place! We had been there years ago (22 years ago, I think), but I didn't remember any of it so seeing it 'again' was like seeing it for the first time.
We got trolley tickets and took the tour the easy way!
Joe, Joey, and Darlene.
I suggested a 'selfie' and Darlene agreed! I was sad that the sun's glare messed it up, but I still love it (and my sweet daughter-in-law).
This was a cute little shop that had artist made things for sale.
I couldn't resist this bracelet that says "Amazing Grace" and has a cross, Angel wings and a tree of life charm on it. Actually, I was resisting until Joe insisted that I get it.
The homes on the island were all winter homes of the very rich and famous from the early 1900s. I'm sorry I don't remember which one belonged to which person, but the history is rich and some of the houses are said to be haunted....
A view of "the club" which is now a hotel.
We left the historic part of the Island and went to the beach side, to a Mexican restaurant the kids enjoy - Tortuga Jacks. Our meals were very good, but it was too hot to eat outside. The view wasn't that great anyway because of the dunes and grasses between the land and the beaches. Darlene and I enjoyed a Margarita. I rarely have an alcoholic beverage because I am usually driving....not on this day, though!
The waitress's shirt says "Shut Up and Drink Your Margarita"
The ocean view was waaaayyyyy over there!
When we got home, we were still full, so relaxed, played with the pups and later in the evening ordered some Chinese food from another restaurant the kids like. It was very good. I had Kung Po Shrimp and Hot & Sour Soup. Yum.
Wednesday, we slept late again, and then went over to St. Simon's Island.....more of that tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by today! Peace & hugs.

Photos are lovely and sounds like you had such fun. I am glad Joe felt better and you were able to still go. What a great family trip and memories made.
ReplyDeleteOh, my...what an awesome little getaway. I so want to go on a vacation with my hubby....sigh....HOPEfully, sometime this year...but I've said that for the last 7-8 years. It's nice to live vicariously through others, though! LOL Can't wait to see more of your trip. Love the pretty bracelet...glad Mr. Joe encouraged you to get it.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty, it has been many years since we been over that way and I liked that sign at the restaurant. Your bracelet is so pretty, many Happy Sunday Blessings to you. (and I glad to read Joe is ok)
ReplyDeleteIsland looks like fun. I love looking at houses. Can't wait to hear about the next island.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your pictures Jeckyll Island looks simply lovely. Now I know why my family doc retired and moved there. (Darn his hide) So glad Joe's okay. I too had an asthma attack before we left for Julie's for Christmas, and my doc sent me to the hosp. for xrays before letting me go. We were so bummed for awhile, but the film showed no pneumonia (ie, no hospital stay) and prednisone did the trick. Huzzah! Better living thru chemistry :) Your trip sounds amazing and I love that shot with your daughter-in-law. So sweet, and that bracelet is perfect, my Friend. Hugs :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed sharing your trip. Very nice pics and I like the selfie with your daughter-in-law. Sweet of Joe to convince you to buy the bracelet. You will enjoy it and the memories of your trip.
