Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
3) Billie Joe says "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" was inspired by the Edward Hopper painting, "Nighthawks." Tell us about a piece of artwork that you enjoy. (Yes, the macaroni picture frame created for you by your nephew counts.) Well, just by chance "Nighthawks" is one of my favorites. I really like Edward Hopper. I own two of my mom's paintings and treasure them. She started painting when she retired. They are not "fine art" but live in my heart as if they are. Priceless. Here is "Nighthawks" for those of you not familiar with this work....
6) Green Day uses their Facebook page to let more than 32 million know what the group is doing. What's the last thing you posted to social media? I shared a video on Facebook and here it is:
7) In 2004, when this song was popular, Ken Jennings had a still unbeaten string of 74 wins on Jeopardy! What game show do you think you'd do well on? I would be terrible on any game show but my Joe's brain is a storehouse of useless information and he would do well on Jeopardy. He is also good at word puzzles so could win on Wheel of Fortune too.
8) Also in 2004, Lance Armstrong was in the midst of his own Tour de France winning streak. Now we know he cheated. Tell us about a time you broke the rules. I'm a first born child who ALWAYS follows the rules. Always! LOL Joe is a middle child and makes fun of me following the rules all the time.
9) 2004 is when Morgan Spurlock released Super Size Me, his documentary about eating nothing but McDonald's for a month. What's the last fast food restaurant you visited? Yesterday I had a sub from Jimmy John's for lunch.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Saturday 9: Boulevard of Broken Dreams (2004)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) The "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" video begins with the gentlemen of Green Day dealing with car trouble. If your car overheated, what's the first thing you would do to remedy the situation? Call AAA!!
2) Thinking of cars, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong has had his share of trouble behind the wheel and was busted for driving well beyond the speed limit. Was your last ticket for parking, or was it a moving violation? My one and only violation was in 1985 for speeding. I was going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone.

4) Let's go back to childhood. Was the home where you grew up located on a boulevard, an avenue, a street, a lane or a road? Street.
5) This song won Green Day a Grammy for Record of the Year. What positive feedback have you received recently? Just yesterday, from my boss about handling a personnel issue.

Your answer for number one is the logical choice. Because Madrid is having problems with pollution - the air is not moving at all - drivers are having to drive at 70 kph maximum on the roads. That's slow I know as those who have already got speeding tickets can tell you. So much money is being lost because people who depend on their cars for work aren't permitted to park on the streets and, of course, the public car parks are full. Still, it's not as bad as the pollution in China. Enjoy your Saturday.
ReplyDeleteSigh---Jimmy John's---miss that place, no Jimmy's up here. I am also the oldest and follow the rules, I think it is ingrained into us. AND I like Green Day's music...thanks for the smiles, Terri. Have a beautiful Saturday.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I see so much that we have in common. Good for you, rules follower. I am also the oldest and they tease me for sticking to the rules, but unfortunately, when it comes to driving, I do have quite a record of traffic violations because I inherited a "lead foot" from my dad. My last violation was in 2008 and I since have learned to use cruise control to keep my foot off.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on your favorite artwork. Those are indeed the best treasures.
As always, enjoyed your answers. Hope you're enjoying the week-end. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSome how I think first born, and only born, do the same things, feel the same way. I cant remember if I have gotten a ticket, but dont think so. I am teased and called 'the little old lady from Pasadena' regarding my driving! I used to be able to remember, but now days I just cant. It is aggravating to me. Enjoy your Saturday.
ReplyDeleteNighthawks is such a great choice. It was always one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm, Jimmy John's! My favorite!
ReplyDeleteLoved you answers, but that video....priceless!!! ;-) Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI've never had Jimmy John's. Is it good?
ReplyDeleteI can never follow the speed limits... I have a lead foot. Is that because I'm the baby of the family?? LOL
