Fall is Here and so is the Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 236
Thank you, Joyce, for another Hodgepodge full of great questions for us!  Answer the questions on your blog and then hop back over to Joyce's blog to link up with everyone!  Always fun!

1. What have you 'fallen for' recently? It's the first question and I don't have an answer...unless to say I've fallen victim to a miserable cold!

2. What's something you're 'squirreling away' for later?  I'm not squirreling anything away, but Joe ordered three boxes of his favorite fall cookie and he is being very stingy with them... Ivan's Famous Spiced Wafers.

3. How do you like your apples? Sweet? Tart? Crisp? Cooked? Apples are one of the superfoods for fall...how often do you eat an apple either plain or as part of a favorite recipe? What's your favorite variety? I like tart and crisp apples.  I don't eat one every day, but rather go in spurts. Most often, I buy Granny Smith apples because I can never get my absolute favorite apple down here in Florida.  Cortland is THE BEST and I miss getting them from the Catoctin Mountain Orchard in Maryland. I like apple crisp, apple pie, apple cake....and Cortlands.

4. According to Fodor's the ten best fall foliage trips in the US of A are-Aspen ColoradoThe Catskills New York, The Berkshires Massachusetts, Columbia River Gorge Oregon, Green Mountain Byway Vermont, Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway New Mexico, Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, Upper Peninsula Michigan, Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, and Glacier National Park Montana. Which would you most like to visit this fall and why?  Well, I've seen some beautiful foliage in Ohio and Virginia, too, but it is hard to beat the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  I would be happy for a quick trip up that way next month.

5. The topic of legalizing marijuana was raised in the most recent televised political debate so let's wade in too. Twenty-three states and the District of Columbia currently have laws legalizing marijuana in some form. Four states have legalize marijuana for recreational use. Your thoughts?  I am not for legalizing it for recreational use.  I believe that it is fine to use it for medicine and it can be controlled for that.  I've never smoked pot, so it is easy for me to say no. It has been proven to kill brain cells and to lead to stronger drugs.  Smoking tobacco leads to cancer too... Everything like this always boils down to politics and money.

6. Are you okay to watch a movie already in progress or do you need to always see it from the beginning? How about jumping into a TV series somewhere in the middle? Is that okay? Of course it is "okay", but I can't watch a movie from the middle if I've never seen it before. I have to watch from the beginning. Same for a TV series.  Years ago, Joe and I watched five seasons of The Sopranos in two weeks so we could be caught up for the next season on HBO. We are TV addicts. We are.

7. Thursday (September 24) is National Punctuation Day. What rule of punctuation trips you up most often? Using a comma. I tend to put too many commas in sentences. What rule of punctuation, when broken by someone else, bugs you the most? Let's not even go there! LOL

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  It isn't really random, but as you are reading this, Joe and I are most likely at the hospital for his heart catheterization.  Whisper a prayer for him and his cardiologist, please!

---------------------------------

I did make it into work yesterday and finished the reports I needed to do. I was only there a couple of hours. I am also feeling a little better. The medicine is working and sleeping through the night helps immensely.

Thanks for peeking in today!  Peace & hugs!!

  2. Oh, I adore your background....so very pretty! I thought of you and Mr. Joe this morning. Prayers all goes well and so glad you're feeling some better. We live near the Smoky Mountains...what a small, small world. We are about 10-15 miles from Sevierville, at the base of the Smokies!!! ;-)

  3. A FB friend introduced me to Honey Crisp Apples. Yum! Pricey though so I don't get them often. I usually get Jazz Apples. I love them.

Glad you are feeling better. Hope everything goes well with Joe's cath.

  4. I'm thinking of you both and praying that Joe's heart procedure goes well. I really miss seeing all the beautiful colours that will soon come out, and always thought I'd love to see them in Maine, which wasn't mentioned. Colds are going around I think. Both my sister and brother-in-law have bad throats.

  5. Prayers for his heart test and your cold. I also like to start movies from the beginning - it is hard to know what is going on else wise. I like my apples sweet!

I've been struggling with the WordPress Template so it's on hold and I'm back to Blogger. It is like second nature here.

  8. I do hope all went well with your husbands procedure. And you take care and feel better soon too. I love the Catoctin Orchard. We used to take field trips there with our girl scouts when we lived in Severna Park. My sister in law lives in that prt of MD so we still get there occasionally.

  10. I knew you were a person of excellent tastes. I have loved Cortland's for years. I usually took one into the woods with some Cheddar Cheese slices and consumed them while I sat waiting for a deer to come by my stand. They never came by, but it was pure bliss all the same. Thanks for your comments.
