It's a Hodgepodge Hodgepodge!

Thanks to our hostess, Joyce, for another fun Hodgepodge!!  She gives us the great questions and we write the answers!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 230

Hello Hodgepodgers! One item of business to note: There will not be any Hodgepodge next week (August 4/5) as we'll be wrapping up some travel, and then moving into our apartment down south.

Or as I like to call it-Phase 3.

The Hodgepodge will return the following week (August 11/12), so thanks for understanding! Now back to this week...answer the questions on your own blog, then hop back here tomorrow to share answers with your peeps.

1.  I recently read here about four secrets to happiness from around the world. They were-

Overcome your fears by facing them head on, allow yourself to relax and reset, work to live versus living to work, and find the good in life. Not sure if these are the actual secret to happiness, but which of the four do you struggle with most?
Probably overcoming my fears (public speaking, specifically).  Which one comes most easily to you?  Resting and relaxing, indeed!

2. How would you spend a found $20 bill today?  Lunch with friends.

3. Ego trip, power trip, guilt trip, round trip, trip the light fantastic, or trip over your own two feet...which 'trip' have you experienced or dealt with most recently?  Probably round trip.  Explain.  New Orleans, the beach, and this week St. Augustine.  Round trips all.

4. If you could master any physical skill in the world what would it be, and how would you use that skill?  At my age.... can't think of a thing.

5. As July draws to a close, let's take inventory of our summer fun. Since the official first day of (North American) summer (June 20th) have you...been swimming?  Yes. enjoyed an ice cream cone? Yes. seen a summer blockbuster? Yes. camped? Never.  eaten corn on the cob?  Yes. gardened? Nope. deliberately unplugged? Yes! watched a ballgame? Yes.  picked fruit off the vine?v No  taken a road trip?  Yes. read a book?  Several, yes. Are any of these activities on your must-do-before-summer-ends list?  None of no answers is on my must-do list.

6. The Republican Presidential candidates will debate on August 6th. What's your question?  How will you bring God back into our country?  (I have a long, long list, but you only asked for one.)

7. What's your most listened to song so far this summer?  I don't listen to music that way.  Spotify plays on my computer at work, but I don't really hear it.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  It is such a shame that SOME kids today feel entitled and privileged and share no responsibility for family or even themselves.  I am sad and disappointed in someone and it has been a struggle for a couple of days now.  I need to give it to God.

I appreciate your visit today!  Prayers for my #8 will be appreciated too.  Peace & hugs!

  1. I recently posted a link and some photos of Madrid on FB. The link was entitled '10 Things Spaniards Do Better Than the Rest of the World'. One of the 10 things was work to live. Sadly, I agree with your random thought. I could go on but best I stop here. Have a good day!

  3. That is what I would do with $20 too, or spend it on my grandchildren. #8 putting on my prayer list. I agree with your statement here too. Too, too many of them out there. Sad indeed my friend.

  4. Oh how I agree with number 8, Terri...and there are some adults who act that way too....I am so blessed to have a son who cares for others, and doesn't act that way. Very rarely do we have to give an attitude adjustment, wink.

Great answers...I went more in depth for #6, I am afraid. sigh...have a lovely day---keeping you in prayer...hope the situation gets worked out--your right, turn it over to the good Lord. Blessings sweet friend.

    1. I had Pandora for awhile, but it keeps asking "Are you still listening?" and just stops. Spotify keeps on playing....

  6. St. Augustine? I love it there, have been many many times. If you have never been to Osteen's Restaurant, give it a try. We love it and have even changed our directions at times to eat there. Nothing fancy, just good food. I hooked up with Spotify just yesterday and can listen when I want, or turn off volume. Have a happy hump day! Prayers for the person you are dealing with and hope it will be resolved soon.

  7. AMEN to your answer to #6. Turning away from God is the downfall of America. So very sad! ;(

  8. I bet we all have people like that (#8) in our lives. It's so disturbing, isn't it. And you're right, we need to keep praying about it. Unfortunately, I am a fixer and it's hard not to try to fix things like that - to give it to God who alone is able to change hearts. Have a wonderful day, friend.

  9. Boy it was deep this week wasn't it - I enjoyed your answers. My biggest fear is public speaking too! Yikes. Have a good day.

  10. Teri, all of your answers are always good. Public speaking has been one fear I have tried to conquer face on, and still haven't conquered it. I have many questions for the candidates, and pray that soon our leaders will humble themselves and remember they are PUBLIC servants to SERVE the people of our country and not themselves. It has become such a circus.
I know the feeling of what you expressed in your random thought. Prayers for you because I have struggled this past week with disappointment myself.

  11. If I found $20 I would give it to my grandson, he is out of work right now. I will listen to the candidates Aug 6th. A little early but I pray that the good Lord will see fit to help turn America around. Praying your disappointed person will see the light.

  12. So fun to read your answers Terri! Love your #6 and I love that you've done so much on your summer list already!! Good job. ;)
I'll send prayers for #8. xoxo
    Blessings to you my Dear!

  13. Terri, I like the way you spent your $20. I would use it on junk food! :-)

  14. I agree with your debate question completely!
Sorry about #8 - that is hard to let go. Praying for you!

  15. I have no fear of public speaking; in fact, I enjoy it. But the fear I wish I could conquer is learning to swim.

I'm sorry about the disappointment you're having in someone. I had one particular case like that with a teenage foster daughter a number of years ago. Her sense of entitlement and lack of gratefulness was really draining. Thankfully, even kids like that do grow up to be responsible adults.

  16. Loved your answer to #6, I feel is we would turn back to God as a country, a lot of other issues would fall into place. I would probably do the same with a $20 bill. I love visiting with friends. In fact, I'm having lunch with 5 friends tmrw. We've all known each other for years.

  17. May the Lord help you with [#8]. Most of us have been there and it's only with God's grace that we get through it well. It's a "test of our holiness"!

  18. It is disconcerting that some kids and some adults feel entitled. Americans used to have a work ethic that led them to earn what they wanted. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment.
