- Today is like a Friday! I am off from work the next two days!
- Work is quiet, with just a few of us in this week, and I got a lot done yesterday!
- Joe and I went grocery shopping last night, when I got home from work. The holiday leftovers are being thrown out and replaced with fresher options!
- We are having a little New Year's Day feast, though. We invited Helen, Cheryl and Sheila to come for pork and black-eyed peas, at 1:30. It will be fun having one last little 'hoorah' before I put all the decorations away. I even have some 'bubbly' in the 'fridge, for a toast to 2015!
- News from the ICU in Tallahassee is better. I spoke with my sister last night, and she said they are preparing Bruce for transport back to Georgia (Valdosta Memorial) and from there, to a rehab home. They are putting a feeding tube in his stomach today or tomorrow (hoping for today) so the one in his nose can come out. His BP and temp were regulated and normal yesterday, so hoping they found the right combination of drugs, at least for awhile. He was even setting up for awhile. He knows people, but expresses frustration at not understanding words. I can't imagine how awful it must be to not be able to communicate. There is a long hard time of rehab ahead. They didn't do a swallow test yet, but are moving forward with the feeding tube, which will help get nutrition in his body, even if he is able to eventually eat something. My sister, Tammy, had planned to make a run back home today, returning to Tallahassee tomorrow, but she is waiting now, and hoping to be back in Georgia by the end of the week, with Bruce. One of Bruce's daughters works in a rehab facility, so they are hoping he can get a bed in that one.
- All of that said, your prayers are still appreciated!!
Thanks for checking in today! I see the Hodgepodge questions have been posted for tomorrow's meme, so I'll start working on that during my lunch time today. Joyce has a wedding in just a few days.... I'm so excited for them and can't wait to see the photos and hear all about it! Peace & blessings!

Very good news on Bruce. They do have a long hard pull ahead, but with time, and patience and rehab, we will pray he returns to normal, be able to communicate. Prayers for your sister too...taking care of Jim, lets me know how hard the caregiver has it. Hugs
ReplyDeleteI can tell you, I certaintly can understand about Bruce and Tammy. (and referring to Linda E. as well)--my husband was unable to talk for along time after his stroke, and now, oh he talks, but often is confused, even nearly 10 yrs later. Tammy needs to take care of herself, I often did not heed that comment(s)...please know I am keeping them in prayer.
ReplyDeleteSame here with leftovers and putting the Christmas things away tomorrow. Blessings
Enjoy your days off and prayers to your family!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on Bruce. Enjoy your day off.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read about Bruce. I will certainly send up prayers. We're in the mountains this week but I am now wondering why I thought it would be relaxing. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI still have to work tomorrow, but will be off for a 4-day weekend then. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well with the move and the rehab.
Continued prayers for Bruce.
ReplyDeleteHope Bruce can get into the place where his daughter works too. I know how hard the whole ordeal is on everyone, and just maybe being close .to home things will go better for Bruce and everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe only things sure with what I have on New Year's Eve are the 12 grapes and my bubbly choice is fermented apple cider - sidra in Spanish. Hope you enjoy your time together.
Bruce is still in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your next few days are relaxing and fun.
ReplyDeleteA new year already... it's hard to believe. Bob and I are wishing you and Joe a happy healthy year ahead.
It is so easy in all the busyness of Christmas and New Year's to overlook those who are suffering. Praying for Bruce. I hope you have a nice New Year's Day feast. Mr. C. bought a flat of cans of black eyed peas about a year ago. I haven't been brave enough to use them yet. So it's pork I'm supposed to put with them?? I feel like I live in a foreign country - Wisconsin! LOL Happy New Year to you and Joe.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed! Pork and black-eyed peas. I will put the tenderloin in the crock pot, and will pair the black-eyed peas with green beans and ham seasoning. It is sure to bring good luck and prosperity in the new year!
