I haven't done a throw-back post in awhile. Pulled out a few more photos to scan in, to share with you here. My older Multiply friends may remember a couple of these....
My mom made these dresses for my sister, Patti, and me, so we could march in the parade that celebrated the sesquicentennial (150 years) of the town of my birth, Washington Court House, Ohio. The year was 1960. Patti won a prize for prettiest baby!
Those same dresses were worn for another parade, by my two nieces, Sara (in my dress) and Kelly (in her mom's dress). It brings tears to my eyes, looking at these. My mom was such a talented seamstress and a creative crafter. I sure do miss her!
This is the house we all grew up in, in Millersport, Ohio. It was a home, filled with love and laughter (and tears, too). We lived only one block from the school, so we had friends in and out all the time. I'm sorry the tree blocks the front porch, and the swing on the porch. I loved that front porch!
My home town, Millersport, was at the western end of Buckeye Lake. Our house was (still is) located just off the bottom left of this post card. We fished, went boating, swimming, and in the winter, ice skating, all over this lake. It was a major part of my growing up years.
My parents, posing for a formal 40th Anniversary photo. This was taken just two months before we lost dad to his brain cancer (which came from his lung cancer).
That is me, at (guessing) four years old. We moved from this house when I was four, for a bigger house - making room for my brother, who was 3 1/2 years younger.
My dad's parents, Leota Eldora Swiss and Ora Wilbur Kelly.
And this is my naked-baby picture. Taken in my grandma's back yard, at the end of June 1952.
Thanks for joining me on my walk down memory lane. Peace, love & hugs.

Terri - these are wonderful pictures! Those dresses are a real work of talent. You were a cute baby and little girl and I can see a lot of your mom in you.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics. Thanks for sharing your memories. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved your pictures and know you have many happy memories of your childhood, growing up in Ohio. You were certainly blessed with a good family. Thanks for sharing on this TBT.
ReplyDeleteLove all these, Terri! And I especially like that four-year-old pic. You look so sweet and shy. Thanks for sharing these with us!
ReplyDeleteOh how I enjoy seeing old photos.. I am a Genealogy Nut ---so always am looking at old pictures, etc.... Love seeing you and the family back when!!!! Is your childhood home in good shape? The people who bought ours renovated it --and it looks great now --but it doesn't look at all like "MY" home... Made me cry when I saw it....At least though, it's not run-down.....Sigh!
ReplyDeleteNeat that your nieces could wear your costumes... I'm sure that brought back great memories
Hugs,
Betsy
Betsy, the house now has a garage attached, where the kitchen window was (looks awful!), and empty lots/fields are now full of houses, so the entire neighborhood has changed from when I lived there. I don't get back often. Went into the house once and it felt so small to me, when it used to seem so spacious. "You can't go home...." is a true statement, I think.
DeleteTerri, I love it when you share your throwback pictures. Thanks for the smiles..what wonderful memories..loveeeeeee the house..and of course, the naked baby pic. Blessings
ReplyDeleteAwww. I love that last one the best!
ReplyDeleteLove that picture of your home. Many of us spent countless hours enjoying that swing. Sweet picture of your Mom and Dad too. As for that last picture....shameless, just shameless!
ReplyDeleteLove you, Karen! If that swing could talk, we would both be in trouble!! :)
DeleteOh Terri I loved this post!! What awesome memories! I loved the house you lived in! You were such a cute little girl!
ReplyDeleteYes your mother was very talented, the dresses look lovely. Looks like a lovely home to grow up in. Love your photo on the slide!
