This Monday's memory theme is "First Date".....
I must admit that I truly don't remember my first date. I've been thinking about it since the subject was given to us last Monday. I really don't remember!! Not too memorable, I guess! Ha ha!
I wasn't allowed to date until I was 15 years old, and then only double dates. We (my group of friends) did lots of group things. Band trips, pizza after football games, etc.
I DO remember my first steady boyfriend, though, and my first real date was most likely one with him - in a group. I was a sophomore and he was a junior. I know I went to the homecoming dances with him, and he invited me to the prom. I was one of only a couple of sophomore girls who got to attend the Junior/Senior Prom. His name is Archie (nickname) and today he is married (happily, I assume) and we connected on Facebook a couple of years ago. I haven't seen him in over 40 years. Our "steady" relationship was purely platonic. He was the boy next door....actually down the block, but we could see each other's houses from our front yards. It was fun. Just good fun (as it should be at that age!).
I will reveal a secret that only a few people know (or knew). I really had a crush on Archie's older brother. Doesn't that sound so "teenager"?!!! LOL We worked together at the ice cream parlor, and I just thought he was the dreamiest upper-classman! So I dated his little brother.
Okay - now you have today's memory moment! Not much of a memory. I DO remember my first date with Joe, and the second and the third.....when you find true love, the memories are a little 'stickier'!
Thanks for stopping by today! Peace & blessings!

I don't remember my 1st date either. We lived far away from stuff to do so we always did group stuff. Someones mom would drive us there, another would pick us up.
ReplyDeleteI do remember my 1st date with hubby. Movies and McDonalds. lol
Have a great day!
Teri, I struggled with this one, too. Sounds like you had a good time with your steady. But that's funny that you dated the younger brother of the one you really had a crush on. My memory of my first date left me thinking about the immaturity of the way we were in those years.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your memories! I'd blogged about my first boyfriend several years ago, or I probably wouldn't have remembered quite as much :) Like you, dates with my 'significant other' stick in my mind a lot more than the others.
ReplyDeleteYou should have more chocolate. I read and heard that chocolate was good for the memory. You sure have more photos of schoolday events than I. Does Archie still look the same? I find people that I went to school with have changed so much.
ReplyDeleteNo, not really. We are old now! LOL I probably would not know 3/4 of my classmates if they walked through my door and said hello....and they wouldn't know me either, I'm sure!
DeleteSticky memories ... I like it :) Let's see, what was Archie's brother's name....oh gosh, I've got his image, but can't remember his name. Funny, I don't remember my 1st date either....we all kind of did things in a group, so I'm not sure what would constitute a "date". But I doremember my 1st kiss....it was at your house....
ReplyDeleteLOL - one of those spin-the-bottle parties, or my cousin, Tom?
DeleteWhy Terr! I'm not the kind of girl that kiss and tell :) (ahem, the former)
DeleteThanks for stopping over. Yes the movies come out on Netflix pretty quickly these days! Love your little secret. I am sure a lot of girls had crushes on the older brothers. I didn't join in today because I don't remember my first date either.
ReplyDeleteHi Cutie, I was looking at your thumbnail photo on your blog.. Is that recent? I used to wear my hair that way for YEARS... I had perm after perm --and it was an easy 'do'... Just wash it and shake!!!!! ha.. These days, I just wear it short and straight.
ReplyDeleteLove your prom photo.. Funny that you had a 'crush' on his older brother... Did your boyfriend ever know that????? ha
I went 'steady' all through high school. His name is Ralph ---and I caught up with him a few years ago. He lives in Richmond, VA and has Type I Diabetes. We emailed a bit --but things came to a halt when he found out I was a conservative Republican. He is one of those nut-case Liberals--and to him, I am worth NOTHING!!!!! Haven't talked to him in a very very long time--and probably won't talk to him again. Amazing how things turn out!!!!! ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Betsy, the photo is about a year old, but that is how I still wear my hair. It is all natural curl, though. No perms needed. I finally gave up trying to straighten it and gave in to the curls. Thanks for your comments, always!
DeleteI enjoyed your stories! I don't remember my first date. I do remember my first love!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't remember her first date. I'm wondering if it was with my first steady BF like yours might have been. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteI don't remember my first date either, but I do remember the first date with Bob!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your memories today!
I didnt date until I was 16 and went steady with the same boy all through high school. When we graduated, for some reason, he went his way and I mind. I learned this summer that he passed away. You and I must have had too much to do to date much...lol
ReplyDeleteThat was fun! I do indeed remember my first date. I was 15 and Dick was 16 when we started dating in 1967, and we've been together ever since!
