It's Hodgepodge question time and the
Hodgepodge, like time itself, waits for no
over-committed blogger man.
Thank you Joyce, for another weekly Hodgepodge!!
1. What is something you'll never forget about the age you are right now? The aches and pains! But I imagine they will get worse, rather than better, as time goes by, so maybe I'll remember how much better I felt at this age! I'm blessed. So blessed. I hope I'll never forget how blessed I am, each and every day. Life really does get better, aches and pains and all!
2. What's a household chore you've never done? How have you managed that??? I honestly don't think there is any chore I've not done. Maybe when I read the answers from others, something will pop up that I didn't think of, but I grew up in a do-it-yourself (or it doesn't get done) household. I've even taken a mixer and a toaster apart. I'm actually quite handy with tools. Toilets don't scare me.....
3. Does nature shape our personalities more than nurture? Explain? My first reaction is to say no. I don't have a scientific explanation, but I know studies have been done. Babies do better when they are held and nurtured. We need human touch. We just need human contact and gentle touch. We need to feel safe (nurtured) and grow up better for it.
4. Friday (February 28th) is 'Something on a Stick Day'...funny because Zoanna over at A Penchant for Pens recently sent me an idea for a question relating to this topic. What's your favorite food eaten on a stick? Well, you can't beat a fudge sickle. I also enjoy shrimp kabobs! Does that count? I wouldn't turn down a Tootsie Pop....
5. Which of your five senses do you treasure most, and why? I have actually thought about this one over the years. I can't imagine being without any, but many people live quite lovely and productive lives without one or more. I think I treasure touch. See #3 - we just need human contact to feel alive - at least I do. I enjoy that connection when someone reaches out to touch my arm as they walk by, or that handshake, or that hug. A hug is one of the best things you can give away!! Touch!
6. What's the best music, theatre, or sporting venue you've been to? What made it great? When I lived in the Washington, D.C. area, we went to the Kennedy Center frequently, and also the National Theater, and I've seen several plays at the Ford Theater, in Washington, and we attended Wolf Trap for concerts a few times. All wonderful, but so is Lakeland's own historic Polk Theatre. We have also enjoyed several events at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. What makes them all great is the anticipation you feel when you walk in, find your seat, and wait for the curtain to rise.... anticipation makes them all great, each in its own way!! I don't think size or location matters - it's what you are going to experience that makes it great.
7. It's the last week of the month...in five words or less bid adieu to your February. Gone so soon?
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Thanks for stopping in for my Hodgepodge!! Wishing you all a good Wednesday!! Peace, love & hugs.
Terri, I think you will be one of the few respondents who are sad to see February leave! ha! Enjoy the final days of it in lovely Florida!
ReplyDeleteFebruary in FL. sure sounds a lot nicer than Feb. in Georgia! I say...SO LONG, FEBRUARY!
ReplyDelete#1 You know, I don't know if I will remember a specific thing about being 52 when say I'm 60, 70, 80-something, except a general sense of where I was physically, emotionally, and spiritually in my life which I have to say is pretty good. Every day is a blessing. I plan to cherish and nurture each aspect of my life. My goal is to always be the best I can be no matter what my age is. #4 I'm a sucker for suckers, so that would be my favorite food on a stick. #5 My most treasured sense would have to be my eyes. As much as I love music or the sound of voices of those I love, I would not want to go through life in darkness. #7 Come on, spring-time! #8 It's cloudy and cold this morning with temperatures in the low 40s the next two days, then beginning to warm a bit on Friday with temps just below 50. As I said, Come on, spring-time! Thanks for visiting this morning.
ReplyDeleteI am so ready for Spring. This cold weather has really bothered me this year. I just can't seem to ever get warm. Of course soon I will complaining about the hot weather. lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome answers! LOL about Feb and FL..Like I was telling Sparky the other day..when y'all are baking in the summer, we will be nice and not humid. Upstate NY only gets like 2 weeks above 90-humidity. (and we don't have central ac up here.) Blessings
ReplyDeleteI love Tootsie pops even though I haven't had one in ages. Good points on the sense of touch, I didn't think about that one much.
ReplyDeleteLove your answers about food on a stick...all my favs too! Your weather sounds delightful currently. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI would really hate to lose any of my senses too (although my sense of smell isn't so great anymore). Touch is a good one. I often find myself walking by someone and putting my hand on their back or shoulder when I say hello or I give them a compliment and I can see the positive response to the touch. Enjoyed your answers! Hopefully we'll get some of that spring-like weather in March.
ReplyDeleteGood answers always. For me, sight I think. On a stick any kind of kabob. Hope your Wed. is a good one!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see February go because next month is when plants start leafing out and greenery should be everywhere. Everything is still bleak, stark and harsh looking. But I do understand being able to open windows and let the life in. That is the best part of our more temperate weather. ~:)
ReplyDeleteWell we have a big snow in our forecast for Monday, so apparently March is going to come in like a lion. It usually does here : ) I don't mind more snow, but my dog is definitely anxious for the grass to return!
ReplyDeleteYou're the first person I've encountered who is sad to see February go... It's been so warm, we already have pollen!
ReplyDeleteI certainly agree with number 7. I used to think February was such a long month, even with the fewer days. Now I imagine March will seem extra long, but with the way time speeds by who knows? Good answers, Terri.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions and answers this week, Terri. I don't think I can decide on which sense I'd miss most. I lost my sense of taste when I had Bells Palsy....not fun....and watched Dad struggle with his severe hearing loss, then eyesight. It was so sad that he had no further input, just lived with his memories and imagination...wanting to have human contact, but unable to understand it or enjoy it.
