Hump Day Is Here!

It seems like there are fewer and fewer posts on Blogger these days.  I sure do miss my "gang" from Multiply and the conversations we were able to have over there.  Gosh darn it all.  I'm so blessed to still have a few of you here, checking in regularly, and also a few new Blogger regulars who I am enjoying getting to know, but...  Blogger seems to be geared to people with a mission, or things to advertise and sell.  I feel like my daily 'blah' has to be so boring to anyone new (and maybe to my old friends, too).  Coming from Yahoo360, then Multiply, where we just shared our daily stuff and requested prayer when needed, and encouraged each other when someone had a problem or was down....I miss it.  I write silly stuff everyday (or most every day) more like a journal than the definition of a 'blog', and sure do enjoy reading yours!!  Thanks so much for sticking with me!  If you are reading and not commenting, please at least leave a "hello" so I know you were here!!

Busy at work today, but getting things done.  Joe went to Helen's yesterday, to help her sort through some of her financial things, and to get ready to prepare her tax return for her.  She was relieved of some worry (he said) by the time he left.  They aren't done, but at least she feels better about it.  Al took care of everything and she is really clueless.  Not good.

I "attended" a webinar today, about Excel Pivot Tables.  The first 15 minutes held my attention, then I decided I could listen and get some filing done.  I really have trouble maintaining concentration when I have to listen to a webinar and the person 'teaching' just drones on and on and on and on and on.....

With the death of our friend, Al, Joe and I got motivated to make an appointment to update our wills, living wills, etc.  We wanted to get it done before our big road trip in May.  Joe also finally said we need to get funeral preferences written down....thank goodness he is ready.  I've been trying to get him to talk about it for a few years now.  He saw the trouble Helen had, and is having.....

Death is certain, and we don't know when we will be called to our final glory, but it's coming and we really should be prepared with proper wills, some instructions written out for those left behind, and with instructions about how to dispose of left-behind worldly goods (and how to close a business!).  I'm not afraid of death.  I've witnessed it close up and personal.  I am happy to be here for a long, long time, yet - but we never know, and we should be ready spiritually as well.

Enough about that!!  Not sure where it all came from, but I guess it's been on my mind.

We are downhill to the weekend now!  I wish you all a good Thursday!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I never tire of reading your posts,Terri. I usually write things that happen around me too, and maybe one day I'll post something every day. It is quiet here. Believe it or not, I was thinking the same today. We're lucky to still be in contact with some of our multiply friends on facebook though.

When my mother passed away, she had everything all organized down to what she was going to wear. We all need to think of that eventuality. Death is one sure thing for everyone no matter how many material things they may possess.

  2. I can say the same thing. I miss the camaraderie we had before. I was also on 360 and Multiply. My blogs are a journal too, nothing to sell, and can be very boring, I know. I've tried to think of some way to make it more interesting, but I can't think of anything. My life is very dull. At least you have an interesting work place that I love to hear about. I enjoy your posts.
When my mother died, I knew what her wishes were because she had told me. When Bob's mother died, his father sold everything, and I mean everything, and moved out of state. He never let his boys have any remembrance items of their mother's. It was awful. You are right... we all need to be prepared.
I hope you have a good Thursday.

    1. For Brenda & Carol - my dad had nothing planned and it was really hard on all of us to have to make arrangements from scratch. My mom made her decisions right after we said good-bye to Dad, so her's was much easier. My grandma had everything planned and paid for, too. I just had to call the funeral director, and he did everything else. We can't afford to pay for it right now, but we can certainly have it all laid out, so hard decisions don't have to made through grief.

I enjoy both of you and your posts. Some of just keep plugging along, as if we were still on Multiply. I love it and the friendships we share!

  3. Hi Terri! I haven't blogged in a month, and when I don't blog, I don't visit my page and see who else has blogged. I've been so behind in work that I don't even give it a thought. I'm sorry. Blogger is definitely not as user-friendly as Multiply and Yahoo were.

My mom's mom had her plans written out and hidden under her dresser mirror for her children to easily find. I saw the notes one time. She'd cross off people she had planned to have participate in the funeral as they moved away and so forth. I remember a man she had requested to sing being on the list; but he moved away, so she marked him off and wrote someone else down. I'd have started a new sheet of paper, but she was frugal. :-) I know it made the funeral easier. My daughter tells me she will come to my funeral. I tell her I'm not having one. Seriously, after turning 50 last year and inviting people to join me at a restaurant for breakfast, and only my one best friend showed up? Well, I don't want to be embarrassed like that at my own funeral! I think it would break her heart to see how little people care about me. And if they do care, they need to show me while I'm alive. Once I'm gone, it's too late.

    1. Brenda, we are all so busy and I understand. Sometimes I really have to make myself sit down and log on to post. I'm not complaining about my friends, but rather am still feeling booted out by Multiply. I didn't feel that angry when Yahoo closed, but Multiply closing threw me for a loop. I'm happy you are here!! There are a few who didn't come to Blogger that I really miss hearing from. Facebook just isn't Multiply. :(

  4. Oh boy, I have felt the way you do about our blogging, many times over. I go from blog to blog, looking at what is posted, and what I post is very dull and boring. I am not in college, I don't have any craft, I don't like to cook, so don't collect recipes, etc., etc. I just chug alone day to day and I guess my church and my grandchildren are what I blog about most of the time. I guess when you get my age, that is about it. I too, miss our conversations, day to day posts, but if this is what it is, I accept it and go on. Maybe I blog for me. I guess there is a place out there that might be better than Blogger, but I am not willing to change again if I don't have to.
Death is real, and most people don't want to deal with it. I am different. I want it planned to the "T". It might be my OCD, but I don't want my children to fight or fuss about what is left behind. My mother had it all written down on a yellow legal pad. I have mine in a spiral notebook and Jim has a will. Death is a part of life and it has to be faced. Rainy day 100% here, but wishing you sunshine and sending hugs.

  5. I don't blog hardly at all anymore. Mine was a journal too. I don't really do much exciting. When I do I usually blog about it. Our small business keeps me busy and I tend to check mail + FB on my iphone throughout the day. I do miss blogging. I do read blogs and try to leave comments. I enjoy reading about other peoples lives. Have a great day!

  6. I will be just like Helen if my husband goes first; Ijust hope there will be caring people to also step in and help me when I need it. I have been asking Hubby to help me lay out what would need to be done in such an event and he either doesn't have the time, won't make the time or doesn't want to talk about it or all of the above. My pleas fall on deaf ears.

I miss Multiply too for all the reasons you have stated. I click the next blog button , but I'm sent to people I have absolutely nothing in common with nor want to. :(
