All day in the hospital....
Our cardiologist is the best. Dr. Owen wanted to do a cath on Joe to see if his breathing problems were due to his heart. Praise God!! Joe had a 90% blockage in one of his arteries. A stent has been put in (his fourth) and the other three stents are all open and doing great (one is 10 years old!). They had to keep him over night, so I will pick him up tomorrow to bring him home. We got to the hospital at 7:30 this morning, and he went in for the procedure at 10:15. It took a little more than an hour, but he didn't get to a room until 4:00. I stayed and had dinner with him, then left around 7:00 p.m. He still wasn't allowed to get up yet, but the nurse said the shifts would be changing and they would get him up when the new nurse comes in.
I will call him shortly, to say good night. I'm exhausted, but so thankful!! Here is a photo of the printout Dr. Owen gave me. It is very easy to see the blockage, even without clicking to enlarge!
Prayers appreciated for his quick healing, and of thanksgiving for Dr. Owen and his team. If it hadn't been caught, a heart attack could have been.... let's just don't go there. Praise God.
Peace, love & hugs to all.

Oh my, yes! Praise God for His loving kindness and mercy and for giving you a diligent and alert doctor who's on top of things! I pray that all goes well and that Joe will be able to come home soon. A potential tragedy averted!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they found that!
ReplyDeleteHope both of you slept well (and the cats) and thankful that the problem was discovered. What you said the nurse said didn't make a lot of sense to me, but then I'm not trained in the medical field.
ReplyDeleteI spoke with Joe this morning (7:00 a.m.) and he sounds great, says he feels great. He was not allowed to stand up until 7:00. When he asked the nurse if he could just get up at 7:00, she told him NO - they would be changing shifts, and she would bring the night RN in to look at the puncture point, to make sure it isn't bleeding, then they would let him get up. Sorry I didn't explain it too well.
DeletePraising God!! I'm so happy that everything went well and now praying for Joe's recovery! I hope Joe had a restful night. Will you be able to take today off from work?
ReplyDeleteI'm at work right now. Will leave just before lunch time, go get his medicine, and then go to the hospital to wait until he is released.
DeleteTerri, I am so thankful that your Dr. found the problem and it was 'fixable' for Joe. God had His hand on him to be sure. I know you were exhausted, physically and mentally, but now you can breathe easier. Keep us posted on how things go for the next few days. Sending love and hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this was caught early and Joe is doing well. Yay!!!!

ReplyDeleteOh yes.... praise God. Prayers for you and for Joe's quick recovery and thankfulness for the dr. and his team. Keep us posted on how you're both doing in the next few days. ♥
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they caught that when they did! Praying he'll recover quickly.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else...good they caught it and was able to fix it. Hope he is feeling good tonight and will rest well at home.
