Lakeland celebrates Independence Day on the night before, with fireworks at our beautiful Lake Mirror. It's called our Red, White, and Kaboom! There can be 30,000 or more people there. I have great memories of fireworks with my parents and little brother at a city park in my childhood hometown. BUT, I have never been moved to brave the crowds and parking woes by trying to get to Lake Mirror on the night of the third. I will find some to watch on TV instead!
I am starting my holiday weekend by having an early dinner with a long-time blogging friend whom I have yet to meet in person!! Joyce and her hubs are in Tampa for a wedding and have asked to meet for dinner tonight!! I'm so happy that they are taking a couple of hours out of their weekend to meet with me!! There will be photos!! Joyce is the Wednesday Hodgepodge hostess and also blogs at From This Side of The Pond. We've been blogging friends for many years, and I am so excited to meet her and her hubby!
Check out the tab above (if you are seeing my blog on your computer), and you will see some 27 blogging friends I've been blessed to meet in person through the years. I started blogging in 2007. I have been quite deliberate about meeting fellow bloggers, and my Joe actually enjoyed being part of it. Quite a few of us actually visit often now! If your picture isn't included, it can be!! Let's meet!!
So, an exciting evening ahead for me. Check back for my Monday Musings post for photos and fun! I'm attending the Mas Verde potluck at the clubhouse on Saturday, followed by a decorated golf cart parade. Our HOA is doing the hamburgers and hot dogs. I'm making a pasta salad as my contribution. I hope the rain holds off for the parade.
To all who are celebrating, Happy Independence Day weekend!

Have a wonderful visit with Joyce and her husband! I don't really know her, but I follow the Wednesday hodgepodge that all of our friends do, so I guess I do know her in a way. I love how you go out of your way to meet all of us friends in blogland. I'm so glad you reached out to me, especially when Joe was still with you! That was such a wonderful visit! And now we've had several more to add to it! Some day I hope we make it down to Lakeland to see your home and your fine city! Enjoy your weekend!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so jealous you get to meet Joyce! Ocala is having fireworks tomorrow night for the first time in many years. Wishing you beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteHave an enjoyable time with your blogging friend! I usually watch the fireworks in DC following A Capitol Fourth on PBS. This year, the program is being aired tonight at 8 instead of on the 4th. I don't like crowds anymore plus it is too hot/humid. Have a fabulous weekend, Terri.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to meet Joyce and her husband! I know you'll take plenty of photos to share with us here, too, Terri. Have a wonderful July 4th celebration!
ReplyDeleteI love the Star Spangle Banner. I also think you have met the most bloggers of anyone else - that is so cool!
ReplyDeleteThe town that is,south of us has their fireworks tonight and my town, its tomorrow. So many events going on - truly a busy active weekend for some. Not me. If I could just be there without driving and having to look for parking, I'd go. Too, peopley out there this weekend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit with Joyce and her husband.
Have a great time tonight! Please be safe! I never knew all the verses of the Star-Spangled Banner! Thank you for posting it! I sure hope the kitties handle the fireworks ok.
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of seeing the fireworks but I would want to stay home too.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to be meeting up with Joyce! I hope you have a wonderful time together! That is amazing you have met up with so many bloggers!

Dear Terri, enjoy your time, my good friend! Please stay cool and safe! I posted an update personal post on my blog just now but of course have no idea when it will show up in the Blogger news reader. What else is new? LOL! Take good care of yourself. Sending you much love and hugs.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled that you get to meet Joyce and her hubby!!! Yes, share your pictures, for sure!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing you have met that many bloggers. We went to the city fireworks when the kids were elementary to middle school age. I will be watching from the TV too.
ReplyDelete*Squeal!!!* about your dinner date, Terri. I'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you about staying away from fireworks gatherings. Sad, I can no longer enjoy the heat or being around a crowd.
Color me, Proud to be among your 27!
And hopefully we can get together again!! xo
