The Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie for today's questions!   You can join in HERE!

Your Town

Hello!  This is Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask just 4 questions each week in an effort to get you blogging, thinking, and learning about others.
Maybe we can discuss the town you live in.  It might be nice to find out more about where you live and why you live there. Sometimes we just fall into a place and other times we \choose.

1. What are the good points of living in your town? Could you interest us in moving there?

Lakeland, Florida, is the best place to live in Florida (my opinion). We are close to Tampa and Orlando and are only an hour from the beautiful Gulf beaches.  It is a mid-sized city but still acts like a small town. People are friendly and caring.  I have sung Lakeland's praises many times through this blog.

2.  Are the things you need convenient for your home? (shopping, library, schools, entertainment?)  We have shopping, a main library with several branches, and public and private schools, including several thriving Montessori schools.  We have a very talented Community Theater, colleges and universities with music and drama performances, a performing arts complex with theaters and sporting events, movie theaters... on and on.

3.  Did you choose your town or did you just end up there?  We chose to live here 34 years ago and it was the best decision Joe and I made.

4.   Is your town known for any special foods, activities, places, or people?  We have all kinds of restaurants with any kind of food you are looking for.  We have a weekly Farmer's Market that covers five blocks in our downtown.  We have beautiful parks (ask anyone who has visited here!).  People... Karen Olivo won several Tonys for her work on Broadway. Lindsey Alley... I found 67 people with THIS LINK if you want more famous people from Lakeland.  We have a performing arts high school that has produced many talented actors and musicians.  Of course, we also have a high-class art museum (where I worked for 20 years!).

Check this out!!

Singing the praises of Lakeland, Florida!

Peace & hugs!

  3. Sounds like a great place to live. I'm sure we've been through there before. My oldest went to college in Lake Wales.

  6. Before meeting you, Lakeland was just a 'piddle stop' (lol) between St. Pete and Orlando. Now I'm looking back to 1988 and trying to remember why we were so fixated on living in Tampa. There's little likelihood I'll ever move again, but I wouldn't hesitate recommending Lakeland to anyone looking to move to Florida.

  7. I haven't been to Lakeland since I was a child. But you make me want to visit it and YOU! Someday maybe we will venture out of our town to visit your town. You sure have a LOT more to talk about than we do!!

  9. I first visited Lakeland in 1966 when my sister Janet and her husband lived there with a Mennonite Voluntary Service unit. I know they attended a CMA church. I was in Lakeland again a few years later with a music team. It really does sound like a fantastic place to live!
