Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions.  You can join in HERE.

Fool (If You Think It's Over)

Welcome to Saturday: 9
. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to
answer questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: Fool (If You Think It's Over) (1978)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Do you have any pranks planned for April Fool's Day?  Nope. I am working today and there won't be pranks for the Fishing Derby.

2) When Crazy Sam was a little girl, she once pranked her mother by putting bubble wrap under the bath mat so Mom heard a POP when she stepped on it. When you find bubble wrap, can you resist popping it?  I will always pop bubble wrap (unless I am using it for package protection).

3) This week's song is about a wise man counseling a heartbroken younger person. Chris Rea, who wrote and performs this song, says it was inspired by watching his kid sister endure her first breakup. Were you in love at 17? Do you remember the object of your affections?  I was not in love when I was 17 but I was writing to the man who became my first husband. He was a Marine in Viet Nam during my last two years of high school. Now, looking back, I know it was not the kind of enduring love needed for a good marriage. I didn't find that until I was 32 and met Joe.

4) She's dressed in black as she mourns the end of her romance. Does your wardrobe include a lot of black?  I do wear a lot of black but have for years and not because I am in mourning.

5) He offers to treat her to her first glass of good wine. Do you prefer white or red?  Red.

6) Chris' own teenage romance was highly successful. He met Joan Lesley while still in school and they have been married since 1968. Whose was the most recent wedding you have attended?  Gosh, I think it was my nephew Nicholas and his wife Carolyn.  I think it was in 2017...  They just had their first baby!!

7) Chris Rea is a passionate race car fan and once worked as a pit mechanic for a Formula One race. Do you watch auto racing?  Nope. Not an interest at all.

8) In 1978, when this song was popular, Laverne and Shirley was America's #1 TV show. It's still available via cable and streaming today. Are/were you a fan?  Yes!  I loved Lavern & Shirley when it was on.  I've caught a rerun here and there and don't find it nearly as funny as I used to.

9) Random question: What are you grateful for this morning?  I am grateful to be getting an extra six hours in my paycheck and get to enjoy helping with the Youth Fishing Derby today.  I will be at work by 7:00 and it ends at 1:00.

Peace & hugs!!
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound!

  2. So many of the old shows aren't funny now. I think it's got to have something to do with those being simpler times and we were not as jaded as we are today. Have fun at the fishing derby! I bet it will be a blast.

  3. Hope you are having a great time at the fishing derby right now. It's a beautiful day for it It's interesting that you and I were both writing to guys in Viet Nam around the same time. However, I am thankful that God introduced me to my hubby at the same time, and I am very thankful that I realized that he was the right one for me before I was trapped in an unhappy situation. I am sorry for the unhappiness you had to go through before you met "Mr. Right", but we know that "All things work together for good..." (Romans 8:28) and thankfully it all worked out for your good in the long run. I hope you have a wonderful day today. Yes, that extra 6 hours of $$ will be nice, and you are having fun earning it! Can't wait to hear all about it later.

  4. I, too, have a lot of black in my wardrobe.... better to hide my red wine spills! I'm not much of a racing fan, but always pause to watch the fly-over. Oh, and to see the drivers, their wives and babes standing at attention, caps off and hands over hearts when they play the National Anthem. Patriotism defined!

  6. Such a busy day, but filled with fun, too. No April Fool's jokes here, although I've done pranks in the past.
    Blessings!

  7. No pranks for me today. I can NOT avoid popping bubble wrap! It's addicting! The last wedding I went to was my daughter's in September 2021, in Boston Massachusetts. We always love visiting the east coast.
