Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 444
2. Do you trim a tree this time of year, and if so is yours all done? Yes and yes. What's something in your home-closet-life that needs to be trimmed in the new year? I've been sorting things all year and am just about done with rearranging and donating things. As for trimming... yes, my body needs some trimming and I'm working on that mentally... gotta get to it again soon!
3. Are you 'dreaming of a white Christmas'? No, absolutely not. Is that a possibility where you'll be celebrating? Nope. According to this site the top ten places in the US you can count on for a white Christmas are- North Pole Alaska, Crater Lake Oregon, Yellowstone National Park, Winthrop Washington, Aspen Colorado, Ketchum Idaho, Mt. Washington New Hampshire, Whitefish Montana, Duluth Minnesota, and the Lake Tahoe town of Truckee California
Of the snowy spots listed which would you most like to visit? Not one of them. Sorry. I am done with cold and ice.
4. December 8th is National Brownie Day...will you be celebrating? How do you like your brownies-chewy or cake-like, frosted or plain, nuts or no nuts, a piece from the middle or give me the corner? Yes, check all of the above! As a child were you a member of a brownie troop? No, but I was a Blue Bird (Campfire Girls).
5. Share a favorite line or two from a Christmas carol or holiday tune. One that brings goosebumps and sometimes tears every time I hear it... Mary, did you know - When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God? Can you even imagine?!
6. Insert your own random thought here. I am excited to be going out to dinner Friday night with two friends from my church group, Livia and Wilma! Then we are going to a Christmas show at the Polk Theatre. Lindsey Alley is a locally-grown talent who was a Mouseketeer back in the day. She comes back often and this show benefits kids in honor of her dad. You can check her out HERE.

I just booked some tickets to take my mil to a show in the nearby town here when she's visiting. Part of her Christmas gift, but I'm looking forward to it too. Enjoy your Friday night outing!
ReplyDeleteYour journey continues. You remind me of my dearest and oldest friend in the world. Her comment..."I don't dwell on the last couple of years with the A...illness...and taking care of him...I dwell on the 55 years of marriage. He died March 2020...even last year, she did Christmas exactly the same. We smile...she had four or five or six trees. One million santas...as many houses...her house looks like a Disney Land of Christmas and is tastefully done actually. She says, "I have kids and grandkids..." It will be great...she is inspiring as are you always. Prayers as you go through this step/mile of your journey this year...as my friend said, "You were right...everyone says the first is the worst...sorry...each one is the worst..." She keeps going and is an amazing woman. They married at 18...he was diagnosed about ten years ago...the worst the last two years...the best 55...
ReplyDeleteP. S. Not only did my friend lose her husband last year, she lost her closest brother a few months later (We loved him)...he was killed in an accident in front of his business...then this year, a beloved favorite nephew died young of Covid...
ReplyDeleteSo much heartache but still, God is in control and holds us in His care.
Delete"Mary, Did You Know?" always brings me to tears, Terri. It may very well be my favorite Christmas tune. Have fun with your friends on Friday!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
The Christmas show sounds so great. We always went to shows when I was a girl. Love all the beautiful songs on the radio right now. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers to today's hodge podge, Terri! I love that Dec. 8th is National Brownie Day. While I love desserts, brownies are definitely one that I will never turn down.
ReplyDeleteI love that song and kissing the face of God...What a thought!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun Friday night!
Chuckling about the White Christmas ... my Tom feels exactly the same way. Your Friday night plans sound like such fun. Wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteYou truly are an inspiration. I hope if I'm ever faced with that trial I am as strong. You are a treasure.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of the Blue Bird's. Sounds like fun for kids! Great name. I was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout in Titusville, Florida. Since I didn't have Christian parents or a loving home, both were excellent training for later in life. Their ways have stayed with me all these years.
I didn't decorate as much this year as usual. It's too warm to be festive. Even though I've never lived in it I also don't want a White Christmas. Looks like too much work. *lol*
God bless ya pal. Enjoy supper on Friday. Wish we could join y'all. xx
I don't want to visit those snowy places either - maybe in the summer!
ReplyDeleteMy body needs trimming too. :)
I've been on top of Mt. Washington,NH, in summer and fall, and it was still cold and snowy! It can be snowy up there on Easter! Yep, where we lived we could see Mt. Washington year round, unless it was cloudy, snowy, or foggy. I'm glad we are here in sunny Florida now. And I loved your answers. "Mary Did You KNow" is a wonderful wonderful song. Yes, it does give one good goosebumps. (((hugs))) to you. You are amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove those verses, so beautiful! And, getting together with friends is extra special this time of year, so glad you have that to look forward to. Christmas blessings Terrie!
ReplyDeleteThe very words you quoted, "Mary, did you know - When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?" have been astounding to me, too, ever since I first heard that song when it came out.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Terri: I am excited about this Season first time in a long time.
ReplyDeleteWe have one tree up need to decorate has lights only right now.
I am not a fan of cold, snow is pretty if it melts right after Christmas, I will stay in as long as possible I live in Minnesota about 125 miles from Duluth Minnesota.
We bought brownies today, yummy.
Mary did You Know is my favorite, by Pentantonix, the words in the song are amazing and so beautiful, just think how lucky she was to be chosen to be the Mother of our Savior, just think no instruments just a young man making beautiful sounds with his mouth, sounding like instruments.
I am excited to spend Christmas with Family.
Merry Christmas My Friend
Catherine
Enjoyed your answers. I was not in Brownies. We lived in a rural area until I was in the 6th grade. I joined Girl Scouts and probably stayed in them far past the cool age to do so but I was making up for lost time. No to cold weather too. I am a true Florida girl to the core.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers...I always want snow though...haha. Hope you had a good dinner out.
