I Got My Mind Set on You
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: Got My Mind Set on You (1976)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
6) In the 1970s, George took up gardening. He said that clearing away weeds and overgrowth helped him clear his head, and he was very proud of his jasmine flowers. What's your hobby? For the last couple of years, it has been watching TV and blogging. Why do you enjoy it? I sure have been (and my larger backside is proof).

1) George Harrison sings that he requires money, patience, and time. Which of those three do you wish for most this morning? I could always use a little more jingle in my purse but (as most of you know) I am usually short on patience so please help me be patient. God always provides!
2) This was long one of George's favorite songs. He first heard it back in September 1963 -- months before the Beatles became an international phenomenon -- when he visited his sister in Benton, IL. Is there a song that reminds you of a trip you took? When we got our first car with a CD player, we put the soundtrack from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera in it and played it over and over and over on every trip we took in that car. Joe loved it and I still know most of the words to most of the songs.
3) For years, George thought his birthday was February 25. When he was 17, he saw his birth certificate and learned he was really born on the 24th. His mother explained that he was born just before midnight on the 24th and she didn't get to hold him until early morning on the 25th, so she considered the 25th as his birthday. Do you know any interesting stories about the day you were born? I was born during a major snowstorm. The doctor told my dad to take mom outside for a walk when her labor started so they bundled up and walked in the snow before heading to the hospital. (That is probably why I don't care for cold weather and snow!! LOL)
4) When George was just 14, he met Paul McCartney on a bus en route to school. Tell us about a time when you met someone who ended up changing your life. I met Joe on Monday evening, August 1, 1983. My life was changed forever!

5) Then 17, John Lennon was not interested in letting George perform with his band. He dismissed George as too young. Paul insisted George get a chance and the rest, as they say, is history. Tell us about someone who stood up for you and helped you succeed. Many employers helped me succeed but no one had my back like Joe. He taught me so much about business and accounting.

7) He also enjoyed playing ukulele and encouraged others to do the same. George often gave ukuleles as birthday and Christmas gifts. What's the last gift you received? I receive the gift of a new day each morning when I wake up. Thank you, Jesus!
8) At the Academy Awards in spring 1976, another George was in the news. George Burns won an Oscar for his performance in The Sunshine Boys. Who was in the last movie you watched? Does "Annie" live count? I DVR'd it and am watching it as I type this. It stars Harry Connick, Jr. and has been very good so far! Well done!
9) What's the last thing you dropped? I drop things often but the last thing I dropped that broke was a Christmas ornament. Did it break? Yes. I was going to try gluing it but tossed it instead. Thankfully it wasn't one that I treasured.

Jesus is the reason for the season!

Yes, the ornaments that each year one would break in the process it seemed. Thank goodness for lights now that don't require replacement bulbs.Recall taking each bulb out and trying to see if it was the one burned out. Maybe I am just showing my age!
ReplyDeleteMy husband wasn't born in a hospital. AND no one really knows the exact date (between March 17-21). Lo and behold, the Marine Corp told him to pick a date and he went with March 19. We even filed a new birth certificate...anyways, hope you have a beautiful day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't break any ornaments this year so far. Probably will when we take down the tree. lol
ReplyDeleteBlogger hasn't been letting me leave comments for a while now. I do read your blog every day. It finally let me today. Hopefully it stays fixed.
Have a great day!
I wouldn't care for snow either and I certainly wouldn't if I had been your mother:) Fun answers. I broke one of my favorite ornaments last year. I was so sad. It is what happens though. I still have the memory of getting it and that counts.
ReplyDeleteIt was snowy and icy on the day I was born too. I'm glad we don't have to deal with that any more. We have fog this morning though which is interesting! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour response to #7 is perfect. The BEST gift, ever! I, too, loved the Phantom soundtrack and used to play it over and over (and over). Neat memory! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to have had parents that can share about your birth and other memories of growing up. I've not had that privilege. I know nothing of my birth except the date and where. That's OK, though. God knows all and if I'm to know any of it He'll share. Amen!?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers.
Love & Blessings. xx
I love Phantom of the Opera!! Loved your answers. Have a nice weekend.

George H. was my favorite Beatle. I didn't know is birthday was Feb. 25th (or 24th, but I like 25th best) My son Matthew was born on Feb. 25th. Good thing I didn't know it was George's b.d. too, or we might have had to name Matthew George! LOL. I don't know anything about the day I was born, except that when I was born the Dr. said, "A little redhead!" and my mother said she said, "Let me see her!!" And the rest is history... I am sorry you broke an ornament, but I am glad it wasn't sentimental. I can't remember the last thing I broke, but I best not think about it or I might break something just thinking about it. Strange I've never listened to Phantom of the Opera. Now I think I should. I always enjoy your posts. I feel like I'm visiting an old friend! Have a blessed day my "old" friend, although I am older than you...
ReplyDeleteYour poor mom walking in labor in a snow storm. Sounds like no fun!
ReplyDeleteI was born on Thanksgiving Day, so my mom had to miss her turkey that day. :)
I enjoyed your answers today!
Being in labor during a snow storm certainly doesn't sound like a walk in the park, Terri, but so glad your mother gave birth to you safely in the long run. This world would be a lot poorer without you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
This year I've been enjoying the Christmas music on the radio in my car, more so than last year, when I couldn't handle the cheer. The Lord is healing my soul and I marvel at that.
