Tuesday 4...

Thanks to Annie and Pamela for today's questions!  You can join in HERE.

Tuesday 4

Blogging

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 kept up in her memory.

This week the questions were supplied by Pamela Steiner... Here we go, let's talk about Blogging!

1.  Tell us about your blog.  When did you start blogging?  I started blogging in 2007 on a platform called Yahoo 360.  It went bust and most of my friends there moved to Multiply. When Multiply crashed and sank, some of us moved to Blogger and others to Word Press.  I think the only Multiply person left in my list of blogging friends is Linda Eller.  (Many are still FB friends but gave up on blogging.) Anyway, there isn't much to tell about my blog. It is more of a journal/diary than what most people think of like a blog.  I'm not a talented writer and really just write for myself and to keep some of my family and friends informed about what's going on with me.  I have met about 14 blogging friends in person and love connecting in person with my wonderful friends here.  This really is a community of terrific people!

2.  What prompted you to begin blogging? Talk about a small world.  I began blogging because of a woman we met in Italy.  She and her family lived in Philly and knew a few folks that Joe knew from back in the day.  We hung with them a good bit of our trip (they were in our group - father, mother, and sisters). Genny was a photographer and blogger and got me interested in blogging. Professionally, she was the director of a homeless shelter in Philly.  We became good friends.  She visited us here in FL and we met with her & her family a couple of times in Philly.  Unfortunately, she passed away in 2019 (her obit).  Her sister, Caroline, let me know.  Their dad also passed.  Not sure about mom, but she wasn't well.  This is reminding me to touch base with Caroline again. (Genny spelled wrong on the picture below.)

This is Genny at Hollis Gardens, here in Lakeland.
She was my first blogging friend to get a tour of Lakeland!!

3.  What was your first blog about and why did you choose that subject/title?  Gosh, that was 14-15 years ago and Yahoo 360 is long gone.  I imagine I wrote about our trip to Italy and probably posted some photos.

 4.  How has your blog changed over time, and has it done for you what you hoped it would do in the first place?  When I started on Yahoo 360 back in 2007 it was a place to post pictures and change the clothing on your avatar.  We couldn't change our backgrounds but the avatars could have a new look and new surroundings every day. That was fun. I don't know that I hoped it would do anything for me but it has turned into a journal and a place to meet fellow bloggers, believers, and to even connect with some of you in person!

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves us!!

  1. And YOU are the first blogging friend that I have met in person! I was so excited when you sent me a message saying you and Joe would be passing through our town that day...I almost missed it and thought you meant the next day, but thank God I got the message in time and we had such a great visit! You even liked my fruitcake! LOL. Some people would say that I am as "nutty as a fruitcake". I enjoy your daily blog posts. Yours is one of the first ones I look for to read each day. It's like picking up the phone to visit with a good friend or family member. We don't seem to do that much anymore in today's society, so these daily "conversations" are a wonderful connection with some super wonderful people. Thank you for being my friend!!

  2. It is fun and rewarding to actually meet our blogging friends in person, at least it is for me. Can't say how others view meeting me. *lol* I know I can be moody. I'm much better hidden behind the screen. Thank you for being a friend.
Enjoyed your answers. I hope your work is going well.
    Blessings. xx

  3. I have considered giving up blogging lately Terri and just having friends on FB and Instagram. AS the grands get older they probably will not be as thrilled at having their photos on the Net. I have stopped before then started back so I am on the fence. It is a nice way to keep up with life and my blog friends.

  5. It's interesting to see what inspires us to blog. Some days I still ask myself "why", after 12+ years of posts.

My blog has changed names many times, most recently four years ago. Eventually I settled down to just one name when I realized too many changes are confusing to my readers.

  8. I had a yahoo 360 page too, I just didn't do much with it. It was fun though. I had forgotten that one. I am so sorry about your friend Genny. I have lost a few online friends over the years too. It is hard. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

  9. Wow! Yahoo 360...I haven't heard that in a long time! I think it's awesome how you have met so many of your blogging friends. Most of mine from a long time ago no longer blog.

  10. I've never heard of Yahoo 360, Terri, so I found that interesting. Yes, blogging is not only great for making friends, but it does provide a great way to look back on our memories. I love writing mine, and hate that I've been too busy with Mom to do so as of late. Hoping to hop back into it sometime this weekend.
    Blessings!

  11. I love how many of your blogging buddies you have met in person! I think you may have the honor of having met the most of anyone I know. You are on my short list should we ever be in the same part of the country at the same time.

It's the same here...not too many from the early days are still around. I really miss some of them.

  13. This is a fun one! I started blogging in 2008 because my two sisters had a blog and wanted me to do it too. They both quit and here I still am! I've met so many nice people through blogging - including you! And hopefully someday I can meet you in person.

  14. Interesting. I never even heard of Yahoo 360, lol but I do remember when Yahoo had groups and Yahoo had messenger. It's awesome you've met a number of bloggers. I've only met about 3 of them though there were plans to meet more that never materialized.

  15. Do you have any idea when we met here on Blogger? I really do not!

I started in 2005, right here on Blogger, encouraged by my friend Cheryl. It has become our family's diary. We often refer back to it when trying to remember things.

I also have made very precious friends through blogging, including you.

  17. Hi! I found you via the Tuesday 4 website. I started blogging a little before you and I remember Yahoo 360 but have no memory of Multiply. I was on Blogger then Typepad back then. Funny how so many of us have been around forever. Kind of cool.
