Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 414

From this Side of the Pond

1. The Hodgepodge lands on the last day of March...in ten words or less bid the month adieu.  My first March without Joe since 1983. I miss him!

2. March 31st is National Tater Day...your favorite way to have a potato? Given a choice would you opt for sweet, white, or red? How often are potatoes on your menu in one form or another? Ever been to Idaho? If not, is that a state you'd like to visit someday?  Gosh, I love potatoes just about any way they show up on my plate.  I always buy golden potatoes so that is my favorite (not on the list). I eat potatoes at least a couple of times a week.  Joe did not like TaterTots but I love them so there is now a bag of them in my freezer and I've been having them for breakfast a few mornings a week (with eggs) - 10 minutes in the air-fryer!  I have never been to Idaho and it is not on my list of places to visit, but that is not to say I wouldn't go given the opportunity! How's that!?

3. Last time someone or something rained on your parade?  Explain.  Well, there has been a lot of rain on my parade lately and I would prefer to not go there right now. Gotta shake the rain off the umbrella!!  Suffice it to say that my days are getting easier, but then again...

4. Put all your eggs in one basket, get cracking, nest egg, bad egg, a good egg, egg on, have egg on your face, or walk on eggshells...choose a phrase from the list that applies to something in your life currently and tell us how or why.  I have to get cracking on finding a job.  I had an interview yesterday for a job I would enjoy but I don't like the afternoon/evening shift - M-F 2:30 to 7:00.  I would much prefer a morning shift, and also a bit more money.  The pay isn't great, but how picky can I be?  Hoping something else comes around soon. They are waiting for me to say I want the job so they can do the fingerprints and background check. It is mine if I want it.  I like the people, the location is very close to home, and I know I would enjoy the work... but, do I want to work until 7:00 all week?  Can I afford to be this picky? Help me!

5. If I visited your home would I find a lot of baskets there? Something you like to keep in a basket?   I do have a lot of baskets around because I love baskets but I don't have as many as I used to.  Some have nothing in them and others hold all kinds of things from my meds in the vanity to my colored pencils and coloring books I keep forgetting I have.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Joe's best CPA friend, David, who gave Joe's eulogy at his memorial service, asked me to lunch yesterday.  I met him at Crispers (think Panara but better!).  He treated me to a delicious summer salad and we talked about Joe.  Before we finished, I told him I am looking for a part-time job, in case he knows of anyone who could use my experience. I just happened to have my resume in my purse when he asked for a copy.  I also forwarded my resume to Tori, who works for the CPA firm that did the Museum's annual audit each year. Tori was the lead on that audit for the last few years of my time at the museum and she did say to let her know if I wanted to go back to work... SO, I am hoping for something other than that evening shift.  We will see what the next couple of days brings. I will be praying about it.  I could use your prayers (and advice) too!  Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket...

PS... Update on Joey. He is coming Thursday and staying until Tuesday!

Peace & hugs!!
Jesus loves you and me!!

  2. Emmanuel -- God is with us. He is most certainly with you during these hard days. I pray clear leading for you with everything that concerns you, and in particular the job opportunity before you and possible ones you might prefer.

Coeur d' lene Idaho is a beautiful place that was on our bucket list years ago. Thankfully, we drove up there from Denver and had a wonderful time. Loved the trees, blue sky, and the lake on which the town sits.

As for the tater tots and eggs for breakfast -- that sounds like real comfort food! I need to keep that menu in mind.

I am not familiar with Crispers. You have restaurants in your area that I've not seen here.

Love you, girl. You're in my prayers and in my heart. "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10 I am holding onto this verse today. It applies to both of us.

  3. My best friend since birth lol lost her husband one year ago March 29...they were married almost 55 years...she is strong like you and does not wallow in pity although that is another process...I am so proud of her also...she is strong for her kids and becoming more and more independent instead of asking them to always help her. Like you helping your friend...my son in lost lost his dad about the same time and his mom...after 50 plus years of marriage...has picked up and is strong also...as Christians we have the One helper...I lost these and other close family and friends last year...a year of grief...

  5. Terri, I would say, wait on that job. I don't like the thoughts of you working into the evening. But that is just my opinion, with that and five dollars you can get coffee at Starbucks. I will be praying the right job comes through for you.

  6. Prayers for the perfect job for you, Terri! I love potatoes, too, and adore a good Tater Tot now and again. Glad to know that Joey is going to stay for a good long while. The company will be good for you.
    Blessings!

  7. My hope is that you get the job you want, with good working hours and good pay. It will help you more than you realize. Jim has been gone a little over a year and I am getting used to it, more each day and you will too. Sending love and hughs.

  10. Well first I am glad you are getting a Thursday to Tuesday visit. That is good. I have been to Idaho and it surprised me with its beauty. I would like to visit again. Only visit though. I love where I live. I will pray for wisdom in the job department. They don't come easily these days, but then again when someone sees a competent person with work ethic they will come around. I will be praying for you to make the best decision about the 7:00 one and for just the best.

  11. Oh Terri! I say be patient and wait on God for the right job for you. the evening shift might not be too bad during the spring and summer when we have longer days, but in the fall and winter it would be hard coming home in the dark. I believe God has something better for you, so keep praying and trusting Him to guide you. That's my two cents worth for what it's worth. God is in control, and I believe He will show you soon what you should do. I am glad Joey will be with you for the weekend. That will make Easter more pleasant for you to have company. I like potatoes too, and we have them a few times a week. Mashed, baked, or fried. I haven't had a tater tot in ages! Maybe I should have some again! It would be a fun change. Praying for you each step of the way. Have a blessed Easter.

  12. Initially I was going to say? What about accepting the job offer -- with a 30-day caveat, if you don't like it (or find something better suited) you can leave with no hard feelings. Then again, what Pam just said about commuting in the dark. (That was the straw that broke 'my' camel's back when I worked at the funeral home.) I'm praying right now!

    1. It isn't the dark that would bother me, but I would have to drop my community group at church (Wednesday nights) and my out-to-dinner group from here on Thursdays. When would I see my friends? I will turn it down today. It doesn't feel right so I am listening to my gut. Sigh. God has this.

  13. I know you miss Joe- I think you always will.
That job sounds like perfect hours for me. I like my morning home and then evening.
Good luck and let us know what you decide.

  14. Potatoes are not keto friendly. I do miss having them but they make me too fat. One of my fav's is mashed 'taters'. I've substituted that with mashed cauliflower. You know, it tastes the same and there are zero carb's. Win Win! *lol* I do love my eggs. Thank heavens they are carb free.
    Love & Prayers xx

  16. I think this is the first time I have left a comment as I only recently discovered your blog. I am sorry about your husband's passing. I think there is a job out there other than the one that ends in the evening. Enjoy your Thursday to Tuesday with Joey! Thinking of you, Terri!

  17. I hope just the right job comes along, maybe from one of these connections you mentioned. I wouldn't like the later hours of the job you're considering, but that might just be me. So glad you'll have company this weekend!

  18. Praying you get the right job. I don't know if your city is very busy. But you would not have to deal with traffic with the later hours. Have a blessed Easter though I know it will be hard without your Joe.

  19. Praying about your job situation. I wouldn't want to work to 7 every night either. I think with your qualities and history you will find something with better hours!

  20. Oh Terri, I can feel your frustration. I'm so sorry. I will keep praying that something good will open up. I probably wouldn't mind that shift too much because I hate hurrying in the morning. But we're each different.
