If it is Monday, it is time for the Weekend Recap...
... except there isn't a whole lot to talk about.
On Friday, Jeff and Kali went to Clermont to stay a couple of nights with Kali's parents. Her folks and her sister came to Joe's service on Thursday but I didn't get to spend much time talking with them. I'm glad the 'kids' had some time with them before they left for Virginia yesterday.
Saturday was my laundry day... sheets and towels and a couple of loads of clothing since I didn't get any done during the week. I also went to the beauty shop, at Cheryl's request, to 'adult-sit' with Helen while she got a perm and a haircut. She is doing okay after that bad fall. Cheryl dropped her off and came to pick her up so I sat and people watched for a couple of hours.
Some may not know that Joe and I are Helen's POA, Health Surrogate, and Guardian. Now it is just me. Cheryl is Helen's niece and has been living with her since Helen's husband, Al, died 10 years ago. Helen needs a lot of help now and I think Cheryl has had enough. So, Cheryl is moving out of Helen's house this Saturday (a big surprise as I had no idea and just got this one-week notice) so she is busy getting that arranged. This also means I have to get Helen moved into assisted living soon. I am meeting with Comfort Keepers this morning to see if they can be there during the day (for a few weeks). I will bring Helen here for over-nights until I can get her moved. She can't afford 24/7 care in her home. One day at a time, sweet Jesus is my new mantra.
Oh, and I am also looking for a job...
I went to church on Sunday and invited Elaine & Jim and their son Chris and DIL Sue (who are here visiting) over for dessert after lunch. Cheryl called to see if she and Helen could come over and I said of course. So we had a party with cake and ice cream. Bella came too, which the cats just loved! She is the sweetest pup and entertained us, going from person to person around the table getting all kinds of love.
And that's just about all I have to write about. I am doing okay. Mornings at the breakfast table are the hardest for me. I've been praying and reading my devotional, crying a bit, and then getting on with it. God is in control. He isn't handing me anything I can't handle. Deep breaths and praising God keep me going. I also feel the love and prayers from all of my friends and family... thank you!
We are looking into making some difficult decisions in regards to my mil and her husband...I won't get into details. We are their POA/Health Proxies court mandated. Keeping Helen and you in prayer, Terri.
ReplyDeleteNot only are you missing your Joe and dealing with your feelings, but you have lots to do to take up time. That can be good. I am shocked about Helen having to go into assisted living home but I know she needs 24-7. Hope you can find a job that is just right for you. Prayers for comfort continue.
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time (like you stated) is the best thing.
ReplyDeleteWith all you are dealing with, my continued prayers are with you.

Praying for you and even more with this change in circumstances. Wow. Yes, my experience is that mornings are especially hard. It gets better over time as the wounds of grief begin to heal over but you are so right to stay close to the Lord to get you through this. He is your strength and He sees what's ahead. He will give you all you need to get through what He allows. You may have tears through it, but He gets it done. You are so precious to Him (and to me).
ReplyDeleteThere is so much on your plate right now, Terri, but maybe staying busy with Helen is a good thing right now as you grieve. Having someone else to care for can take our minds off of our own immediate problems. I pray that you can find a place for her soon, and that you can also find a job that you will truly enjoy. Keeping you in my prayers, as always!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely between you and Jesus you can handle whatever comes. I'm so glad you have such good friends and most of all you have Jesus.
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time sweet Jesus is a lovely gospel song, we have today; doing the things that have to be done daily and you are thinking of others and helping your friend Helen. Peace be with you. Jenny
ReplyDeleteStill praying for you. I think a job would be just the ticket. It's good to get out and be with people. I admire your strength. Blessings. xx
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, how upsetting to have to find care for Helen in such a short time and on top of all you are dealing with! Will be praying all works out with that and your job hunt. Hugs and Prayers.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Terri. To be honest, I was horrified to hear of Cheryl's decision. But reading what others have said, maybe this is all part of God's plan that we're not privy to just yet. All the same, you remain in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteI am going to add the Helen matter to my list and you finding a job. I pray that you can find a place for her soon and get that settled and that you can find something you will enjoy and that will give you an outing, extra income, but not stressful. I will pray for those things!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
DeleteYou are certainly dealing with a lot right now. Praying for you as you make all these decisions, mourn your dear Joe and look for a PT job. Good thing we know God has a plan.
ReplyDeletePraying for you as you deal with the Helen/Cheryl situation. Wow, not sure if you needed that added to your plate right now, but then again, God knows these things, and perhaps it is a blessing in disguise. Praying for you as you sort through this as well as look for a job and all the other things you must do. May the Lord give you wisdom and strength and comfort for each day. Spend time with Jesus in the mornings...someone recently showed a devotional book called Breakfast with Jesus or something like that...I think it was our friend Martha Jane Orlando if I'm not mistaken. May the Lord help you to use that time that you are missing Joe the most to be a time for prayer and meditation of God's Word...and He will help you get through that time and prepare you for the rest of the day. Just a suggestion...I know you will find the answers you need. God bless you dear friend. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteWow, this sounds like a LOT. I don't like Cheryl's timing. Your attitude is incredible and shows that God is giving YOU the grace for all this and not me. I will definitely be praying for all these matters, Terri.
