Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's nine questions! You can join in HERE!

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Selected because this Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day. Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Bing Crosby sings that he learned this song from his mother. Can you recall a song from your early childhood? The theme song for the Mickey Mouse Club Show!! M I C K E Y M O U S E...
2) Bing was NBC's first choice to play TV's Columbo. He turned down the role because, by that time, he was in his 60s and just didn't feel like working a full week anymore. Peter Falk eventually got the part and played Det. Columbo for 10 seasons. Do you enjoy detective stories, whether on TV, in movies, or in books? Yes, I do and I LOVED Columbo. I still catch a rerun now and then. I can't imagine Bing Crosby playing Columbo. No way would that have worked!
3) Bing could trace his family back to County Cork. While it's said that on St. Patrick's Day everyone is Irish, can you honestly claim Irish heritage? Yep.. my maiden name is Kelly.
4) Other than St. Patrick, what is Ireland famous for? Irish Stew, Guinness, Soda Bread, Corned Beef & Cabbage...
5) "The wearing o' the green" is one way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Will you wear something green in honor of the day? I always do!! Sure don't want to be pinched!!
6) Have you ever had green beer? No.
7) Have you ever ordered a Shamrock Shake from McDonald's? No.
8) A four-leaf clover is considered good luck. Do you have a lucky charm? No, I don't really believe in lucky charms. God is in control!
9) Speaking of Lucky Charms, they are magically delicious. What brand of cereal is in your kitchen right now? I'm not fond of many kinds of cereal but there are some corn flakes (Joe's), some Cheerios (also Joe's), and some Frosted Mini-Wheats (mine).

Update: We got Helen moved into her new apartment yesterday. Elaine and Jim helped SO much. I thank the Lord daily that they are here with me (right next door) right now. Helen was a little pensive and still fearful when I left her there in the late afternoon. I think she likes that she has her furniture. When I was leaving the dietician came in to get her dinner request... the menu was BIG. I remember BBQ sandwich or salmon or chicken tenders or a turkey burger... there was a soup choice and she could have broccoli or spring veggies. She chose chicken tenders and spring veggies with cranberry juice and milk. Pretty awesome. They are doing room service still because of COVID but will be opening the dining room in two weeks!! That will be so much better for her to meet people. She wondered if someone would look in on her during the night and I told her yes. I will go over tomorrow with her clean laundry (they will do it, but I did what she had at the house) and she wants ice cream so I will get that for her. I am SO glad she is making this work and I am so glad we got that much done. Now, when Cheryl (her niece) gets moved this week, I can get the house cleaned, the locks changed, and in a few months will hopefully be able to list it for sale. I want Helen to be comfortable with that before I move forward. Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts for both of us.
No news on a part-time job. I've answered a few ads on Indeed but haven't heard back from them. I need to get out to a couple of agencies and will hopefully have time for that next week, now that Helen is situated. Pray for me!!

As you well know, God's timing is always perfect, and at the right moment, the right job will come available for you. It sounds like you have a lot going on right now and it would complicate things to have to learn a new job in the midst of it all. So, first things first...and then the job will be a blessing and not an interruption. I am happy that Helen got moved and I pray she will settle in and be happy there. I didn't realize that they couldn't eat together...that is sad, but hopefully it won't be long and she will be meeting others and having some activities to keep her occupied. I hope that Cheryl will be happy with wherever she is going and enjoy her new place/life as well. One day at a time...everything will fall into place. Blessings to you today dear friend in Florida. I am glad you are still blogging!!! I look forward to hearing from you.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Helen moved in without a fuss. It's gotta be scary for her. Good luck on your job hunt.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Helen is making a smooth transition, Terri, and we can all be thankful for that. Yes, I will keep you both in my prayers. I know, too, that God is in control, and He knows you are looking for a job. The right one will come along, I'm sure of it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I am glad that you got Helen moved. I will pray she loves it and all goes well there. I always think in person is better for job hunting. I will pray for that as well. Lucky Charms bring back lots of memories. They were my son's favorite cereal. And I can still hear my step dad giggle every time Columbo said, "There's just one more thing."
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome about Helen, been wondering how that was going. Sigh, I really understand about the job hunting, been doing a lot of that here too (for other states including FL). Since NY is tech. on lockdown until April 1, it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteBeen keeping you in prayer sweet friend.
What a relief to get her moved in! I am praying for you every day my friend. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteGad you were able to get Helen moved in! I'll be praying for you as you're looking for a job!
ReplyDeleteIt's been many years, but remember LOVING Columbo. Shamrock shakes, too! Now I see where copy-cat recipes are popular. Hmmmm. Goodness, but that menu selection at Helen's new home sounds wonderful. Recalling my mother's situation and the delight she took in little things (weekly ice-cream sundae bar, etc.) makes me realize what a big role comfort food plays. Hopefully, as the 'snow birds' begin to leave, a new p/t opportunity will present itself. Leaving it in God's hands, yes!
ReplyDeletePraying for you, Helen and a part time job. You've got this and God is with you. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Our maiden names give us away, don't they? (Mine is Andrews) I still, for some reason, sing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song for no reason out of the blue. It's just one of those songs that sticks with you, I guess. Bing would have been absolutely awful as Columbo! He was way too suave for that role. So glad you were able to get Helen settled in her new home. That has to be a relief. I hope she really likes it and is happy there. I'll be praying about a job. Competition is so stiff these days. I've only applied to a few and only heard from one. Hoping we both find just the right thing at the right time!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously in awe of all that you are handling and accomplishing at a time like this in your life!! You are definitely a stronger, more capable woman than I. I pray that the right job will open up just at the right time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Helen is getting settled. That's always a difficult situation when someone has to move. It can be scary for them! Glad you've been able to help her. I'll be praying for you to find a job. That's another thing that can bring stress! I'll also pray for your peace of mind. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Columbo too and can't imagine Bing Crosby playing that role.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of Ireland and the Irish, but none is in my blood...
I'm so thankful the move is done and I'm so proud of how you are handling all of this. I'm thankful for Jim and Elaine too, they are very good friends. Still praying!
