Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 412
1. This week's Hodgepodge lands on St. Patrick's Day. Will you wear green? Eat corned beef and cabbage? Drink green beer? Have you ever been to Ireland? Is it on your travel 'bucket list'? Yes, I will wear green. I doubt I will have corned beef and cabbage but I do like it. I have never had a green beer. I have not been to Ireland but would love to go.
2. Something you think is 'worth its weight in gold'? Family, Friends, Love
3. Something that makes you 'green around the gills'? Oysters. Okra.
4. What puts a 'spring in your step' these days? I have lost my spring lately.
5. Write a limerick using one of the following as your theme....March, St. Patrick's Day, Covid, 2020 and/or 2021, the color green, or life lately. Yes, you can do it.
6. Insert your own random thought here. LOL on that limerick!!
I did not see Helen yesterday because I called in the morning to see how she was doing and they told me she was doing fine. Then my phone rang at 8:30 last night and it was a nurse in her room, trying to give her the meds and help her get ready for bed. Helen told her to call me, so the nurse asked me to talk with her, which I did. I told Helen to let the nurse help her with her meds and getting ready for bed. Helen chastised me for not going to see her (sigh). I told her I had meetings to go to but would see her tomorrow (today). She seemed okay with that and the nurse thanked me. I hope Helen behaved after we hung up.
I had lunch with my friend, Shirley, yesterday and I also took Joe's death certificate to our bank and talked with the branch manager for a while. She and Joe were in the same Rotary group so we have known her for a long time. I also returned Helen's old modem to Spectrum and went to her bank to sign some papers with the investment advisor, who we have also known for a long time. I did enjoy most of the afternoon at home, getting some things done.

I loved your limerick, Terri - so clever!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Helen is bordering on being difficult, so extra prayers for her and for you as you deal with all the changes. Not easy at all, but then again, nothing about life is ever easy, is it?
Blessings, my friend, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!
you had a busy day yesterday; hope today is slower. praying for Helen - she seems to be going down and she depends on you so much. bless her heart and yours for taking care of her.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy day. Sorry to hear about Helen. I went through all that with my mom and it's so hard. I hope she has a better day today.
ReplyDeleteDear one, I don't know if Helen is a distraction that might help or just a very hard part to have to cope with in some hard times. I tend to think the latter since I know it can be hard dealing with an older person. I am praying this passes by soon. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeletePoor Helen...it must be a very confusing time for her and I am happy though, she trusts you, does that make sense? I hope it does.
ReplyDeleteThe thought about the loss of spring in your step, makes me so sad. But I do understand...and I keep you in prayer, Terri.
I hope Helen settles in....thank goodness just a phone call calmed her down. bless her...and you!! I know you have so much on your plate right now. Prayers for peace and calm.
ReplyDeleteYou sure are a blessing to Helen and I know God blesses you for all that you do for others. I hope today is a good one! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThat limerick has me in stitches, Terri. Who among us can't relate? 😉
ReplyDeletePraying that Helen soon becomes more at ease with her new normal! Love you!
Loved your limerick. Hope Helen will be okay and calm down. I'm sure it's a big adjustment. Life is hard sometimes, which I know you know. Take care.
ReplyDeleteTerri,
ReplyDeleteI think everyone is doing exceptional with their limericks. I really was at loss but gave it a stab anyhow. You have your hands full. I've been reading your posts when they arrive in my in-box. You've been in our prayers. Take care and thanks for sharing your responses, my dear.
Curious as a Cathy
Good job on the limerick. It is fun to read them, they are all so different.
ReplyDeleteNice to visit you today. I'll need to go back and catch up on what has been happening. God bless you.
Great limerick!
ReplyDeleteI'm praying God's gracious hand upon you, Terri, as you deal with Helen on top of the loss of Joe and soon the loss of your dear neighbors. I pray that the prayers of all your friends will be like wings underneath you.
You did very well on the limerick! I thought it was perfect! Bless your heart...sounds like Helen is going to be a bit of a challenge for you and for the nurses. Praying she will settle down soon and get into the routine of things. Are they looking into moving her into a different section soon? Sounds like she might need too much assistance for assisted living, Praying things will work out soon. Praying God will give you strength and energy for these things. (((hugs))) to you regarding the "spring in your step" feelings...May God give you grace and peace and everything you need.
ReplyDeleteI will get an evaluation in 14 days so we will see what they suggest. It would be okay with me but harder for her. She does have good days but the down days are not good.
DeleteI love the limerick! (I have a friend who lives in Limerick, Ireland - isn't that fun?)
ReplyDeleteI do understand the lack of a spring in your step and am sorry you are having so much to deal with, with Helen right now. You are loved and have lots of people praying for you!
Those prayers are holding me up, Mari. SO much appreciated!
DeleteI think your limerick is my favorite so far!!
ReplyDeleteYou are too sweet!
DeleteI agree with you on number 3. I am not sure who Helen is, but I am sure she is scared and you are a comfort to her. I enjoyed your limerick.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the limerick! And I love all the shamrocks in your background.
